INTRODUCTION
Car free city refers to population centre which relies upon public transport, walking as
well as recycling for purpose of transport in urban areas. It is one of city where motorised
vehicles are banned. This model of city gained traction with current issues related to congestion
as well as infrastructure as well as proposed environmental along with quality of life. It provide
mobility as it saves cost of fuel of people (Asonitou and Kottara, 2019). It also attract tourist in
country and enhance health of people by making them physically fit. It improve physical as well
as mental health by controlling noise pollution and air pollution. There are different stakeholders
to be involved in car free city like government, people, environmental bodies, corporate
organisations. Government is contributing in many ways as their focus in on reducing pollution
and make their country pollution free. For instance, government of UK is building various
policies and strategies in order to reduce pollution in their countries. Government of UK has
made various national air quality law and policy. These stakeholder also contributing for
reducing pollution law and motivate people to build car free city. People are another stakeholders
which is contributing in developing car free city. As people are those who are directly using
motor car and they can avoid it by replacing these motor car with electric car. Some of examples
of car free city centre are Rundle Mall (Adelaide), Melbourne city centre, Queen Street Mall
(Brisbane Queensland), Brussels, Ghent, Kortrijk and many more (Chernyshov, 2016). This
project report includes discussion of health as well as social care impact of car free city. It
consist issues related to economic impact of car free city. It describe impact of tourism, events
and hospitality industries. It consist environmental impact and social impact on car free city
centre. Moreover, it discusses recommendation for maximising benefits of city centre car free.

Analysis
Health Impacts: Car free city centre is good for health of people living in that city. It create
changes in citizen exercise as it create changes in habits of people. Car free city centre
contributing in reducing pollution level and noise of honking which is good for health of children
and old age people (Ertman, 2017). It provide fresh air to people which enhance health of
asthmatic patients. It make people physically and mentally fit. Some of impact on car free city
centre on people and their health is mentioned below:

Changes in citizen exercise: In present time, everyone is using car for purpose of
travelling and is one of important transportation method. But increasing use of car create
pollution in environment which can results in negative impact on health of people (Felea and
Stanca, 2019). Car free city centre create changes in citizen exercise as it increase number of
electric vehicles in city. People also changes their habits of using car, instead they are preferring
bicycles which is good for their health. It provide economy to a person as it decrease cost of fuel
and maintenance of cars.
Impact on mental health: Car free city also cause positive impact on metal health of
people as it decrease pollution level in city which can cause negative impact health of people.
Increasing vehicles like car cause air pollution and noise pollution which can cause serious
impacts on people. Private motor cars is considered as urban transport medium in cities where
people live. These privately owned vehicles can contribute in air pollution, greenhouse emission,
raised urban temperature, noise pollution which reduce opportunity to be physically active and
cause various mental disease like depression.
Changes in health related to using vehicles less frequently: Using less vehicles cause
various positive changes in life and health of a person. People who live in car free city will be
physically fit as there are less air pollution, noise pollution where people wants to enjoy nature. It
protect people from various mental and physical health disease like depression, asthma and
others (Hirschberg, 2019). It provide cool and natural air to people which is good for their health.
In car free city, reads as well as parking infrastructure can be used for soil sealing which helps to
develop more green areas which are important for improving health of people. Pedestrian as well
as cycling infrastructure is beneficial for physical and mental well being of people.
Impact on tourism, hospitality and events industries: Tourism, hospitality as well as event
industry is one which is growing constantly. It provide various benefits to country in which
tourist visit as it provide opportunity to local people to earn profits and get employment. Car free
city promote pollution free environment and enhance natural beauty which attract tourist in that
country. Impact of car free city centre on tourism, events and hospitality industry are as follows:
Impact on the city as a tourist destination: Car free city centre promote positive image
of city in minds of different tourist. In this type of city, there is less level of pollution which
create positive impact on tourist destination of people (Holden, 2020). People are more likely to
visit places where there are less pollution which create good impact on their mental and physical

health. It create demand of tourist destination of that city and attract more and more people
which provide opportunity to people to earn profit from these tourist. It is also create positive
impact on economy of that city.
Change in type of event which can be hosted in city: Events are important as it attract
more and more people towards country which is beneficial for tourism industry. In international
events, people came from different countries to attend a events (Jackie Moczygemba and RHIA,
2021). Car free city create changes in type of events to be organise in city as avoid events which
cause pollution and not good for people. It avoid event which cause negative impact on
environment and also cause pollution.
Opportunities for new hospitality business: Car free city is one which is free from
motor cars where people can enjoy more green areas and natural air. It reduce pollution level
from city which attract more tourist in that country. For instance, tourist wants to travel city
which is pollution free and where they can get fresh air. It enhance their experience and also
make them to live stress free life. Car free city create opportunity for hospitality business of that
city as it attract more and more people towards there and provide opportunity to business to earn
more profit.
Economic Impacts: Economic factors are related to tax, interest, import, export and many other
factors. Car free city centre helps to promote good environment of city in different country which
attract tourist and hospitality business to their country. It is beneficial for country as it create
opportunity for business (Kapranos, 2016). It promote research, innovation in country which is
beneficial for country as they can sell these pollution free technologies to other countries. Some
of economic impact of car free city centre is mentioned below:
Impact related to employment: Car free city is one which is pollution free and attract
various tourist from different country. It create employment opportunities for local people as due
to its pure air and pollution free nature, various hospitality companies including national and
international which create employment opportunity for local people (Volobueva and Stepanova,
2018). This city create profit opportunity for companies as they can earn profit from tourist. It
also enhance mental and physical health of people which provide them fresh through for
business. It is beneficial for business and reduce cost of fuel and other expensive transportation.
Cost to taxpayer: Car free city centre is providing benefits to tax payers as it saves their
cost. Government is providing subsidies on pollution free vehicles as it helps them to protect

environment of that country or city. It saves cost of taxpayers on buying something which is
pollution free and encourage their policy of environment protection. This car free city centre also
ensure utilisation of tax of payers at good work.
Impact on businesses: City centre which is pollution free create both positive and
negative impact on business as it provide them opportunity to differentiate their products from
other players (Kartal, 2020). They can take advantage of term pollution free city as they can sell
natural products which is free from pollution. It also create advantage for business as people are
more likely to build pollution free vehicles in that city which create innovation in market and can
gain competitive advantage in market. It can also create negative impact on business as it
increase cost of transportation.
Other analysis:
Environmental impacts: Car free city centre also create positive impact on environment as it
allow them to prohibit car in their city. It also promote vehicles which are pollution free which is
good for environment. It reduce pollution level and motivate citizen to develop technology which
enhance their mental and physical health.
Social Impacts: Car free city centre also create social impact as it promote good habits among
people which is good for their health and environment of country (McRae, 2018). It saves money
of citizen as in car free city centre, government is providing subsidies which reduce cost of good
that provide ultimate benefits to citizen of country.
CONCLUSION
From above mentioned project report, it can be concluded that car free city centre which relies
on public transport cycling or walking for purpose of transport in urban areas. It gained traction
for purpose of current issues like congestion, infrastructure, quality and environment life
benefits. Car free city centre provide various benefits for country as reduce pollution in city
including both air and noise pollution. It create various positive impact on health of people which
is good for both physical as well as mental health of people. It create change in habit of people as
they make routine of walking to reach to their destination. It reduce habit of honking which is
good for mental peace of people. It also create food impact on health of people which is good for
asthmatic patients. It also create impact related to economy and tourism hospitality and event
industry. As positive and pollution free environment attract tourist in their country which is
beneficial for country.

RECOMMENDATION
 From above mentioned discussion, it can be recommended that car free city centre
promote battery vehicles or electric vehicles which helps city to overcome of negative
impact of pollution and other environmental issuers. It improve health of people which is
good for them.
 People should also avoid unwanted sound and noise which can disturb people to
concentrate on their work. It promote peace in city and enhance health of people which is
good for people as they are able to more focused with their work. It is important for
peoples as it also them to develop fresh thoughts and ideas which can provide them
benefits.
 It is also recommended that government should promote recycling which helps them to
make their city more pollution free and also enhance health of people. Cycling is good for
health of people and make them active as well as physically fit. It improve health of
people and also make good habit among them. This habit goes generation to generation
and make citizen fit.
 In order to make city centre car free, it is important for government to make Public
transport facilities more effective which is convenient for people. Government should
also provide pedestrian facilities which is safe and smooth for walking. Walking is good
for people as it saves their cost which allow them to save money.
