AUSTRALIAN HEALTH MINISTERS' ADVISORY COUNCIL
The Australian health ministers' Advisory council (AHMAC) is the support body of
COAG health council (CHC). It continuously works to deliver quality health services to patients
so that their conditions can be improved (Arnett and et.al, 2014). AHMAC efficiently provide
advice to health authorities for reducing well-being issues and improving regulations. This body
makes national strategic framework for improvement in chronic conditions. It makes effective
regulations and give directions through which Australian population can live a healthier life.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) has become serious issue in Australia, over the period of
time death ratio has been increased due to CVD. This framework provides specific guidance and
advice to health authorities so that effective policies can be implemented significantly and
nursing practising can be improved (Betancourt and et.al, 2016). The main aim of implementing
these strategic framework is to decrease number of case of CVD from the nation. Cardiovascular
disease is associated with increasing fats inside arteries. It increases risk of blood clot in the
human being which may turn into hearth failure, kidney failure etc. Current study is based on
three research questions (Baron and et.al, 2014). These are as following:
Explain national strategic framework for cardiovascular disease?
How strategic framework impact on nursing practices?
Explain effectiveness of strategic frameworks to minimize health issues and improving
health care practices?
RESEARCH TOPIC
Aim
“To explore national strategic framework for cardiovascular disease and its impact on nursing
practices”.
Objectives
To explain national strategic framework for cardiovascular disease.
To identify impact of strategic framework on nursing practices.
To determine effectiveness of strategic frameworks to minimize health issues and
improving health care practices.
Vision of AHMAC is to improve well-being of Australian population and prevent them
from chronic diseases. National strategic framework for cardiovascular disease is considered as

overarching documents which provides direction to health care professionals for providing
quality care services to patients. This body makes effective policies and take strict actions so that
impact of chronic conditions can be minimized in Australia. National chronic disease strategy
2005 is the biggest framework which has supported government in minimizing number of cases
of CVD from the country (Rahim and et.al, 2014). It is beneficial for government, non-
government sector, local health service providers, and population. It makes sure that people get
necessary education about CVD and its causes. Concern authorities give quality health care
services to patients in hospitals. Australian Health Ministers' Advisory council has made
partnership with states, territories for developing effective framework through which care
practices of the nation can be improved.
Chronic diseases impact on entire health system of an individual. CVD is related with
heart and blood vessels (Halfon and Forrest, 2018). If individual face difficulty in blood flow
then it may turn into heart attack, failure etc. Heart can work properly when blood supply is
being done properly and body gets proper oxygen. If one or more coronary arteries get narrow
then it creates difficulty in blood supply. High blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, high
cholesterol are the main causes of CVD. There are number of initiatives that have been taken by
AHMAC to prevent people and provide quality treatment to patients (NATIONAL STRATEGY
FOR HEART, STROKE AND VASCULAR HEALTH IN AUSTRALIA, 2004).
LITERATURE REVIEW
National strategic framework for cardiovascular disease
As per the view of Halfon and Forrest, (2018) framework of National chronic disease
strategy 2005 and national service improvement frameworks were main initiatives of
government. It has supported in minimizing number of cases of CVD cases from the Australia. It
is the body which gives guidance to concern authorities to develop new policy in Australia so
that overall health care practices can be improved, and Australian population can live a healthy
life (The Health Promotion Strategic Framework, 2017). Focus of this body is to recognize
health issues and take initiative to resolve such health problems. It has engaged with external
sectors in order to achieve its vision. External stakeholders are such as education department.
Social services, local health care services etc. Rahim and et.al, (2014) stated that guidance of
Australian health ministers' Advisory council contribute well in sustainability of health system of

Australia. With the help of this care system better care services are provided to patients so that
their health conditions can be improved.

According to Arnett and et.al, (2014) in the year 2014-2015 approx. 1 in 4 people
diagnosed with chronic diseases. In the year 2015 Primary health care advisory group has
reported to government of Australia for improving well-being (National Strategic Framework

for Chronic Conditions, 2017). The committee has stated that current health system is not that
much effective so there is requirement to make changes in existing policy so that health care
practices can be improved. As per the view of Backholer and et.al, (2014) changes in health care
technologies is the big relief to the health care system because with the assistance of highly
advance technologies medical professionals are able to provide quality services to patients.
Strategic framework of this body are equity, collaboration, person centred approach,
accountability and transparency (NATIONAL STRATEGY FOR HEART, STROKE AND
VASCULAR HEALTH IN AUSTRALIA, 2004). Strategic priority area of government is focus on
prevention for health of Australian people, provide effective care and support to patients those
who are suffering from cardiovascular disease patients.
Impact of strategic framework on nursing practices
According to Halfon and Forrest, (2018) health promotional framework have supported
in improving life style of people and making them aware with the rout cause of cardiovascular
disease. This promotional activities is considered as important element which helps in prevention
of chronic conditions, it has supported in improving quality of life of population. By promoting
health education government has become able to aware people and prevent them from such type
of health issues. As per the view of Baron and et.al, (2014) partnership with external
stakeholders is the great strategic framework of Australian health authorities. In this, committee
has made partnership with external stakeholders in order to improve health care services in the
nation. It has helped in implementing technologies in the hospitals through which better care can
be provided to patients. Apart from this fund are provided by the high authorities to local
hospitals and primary health care services (The Health Promotion Strategic Framework, 2017).
This can aid in improving wellbeing of the people and minimizing number of cases of
cardiovascular disease in Australia.
Rahim and et.al, (2014) AHMAC has developed new policies and regulations. In order to
reduce risk factors government has made Tobacco control act and has taken initiative of Tobacco
control project 2002. The national aboriginal and Torres strait Islander Nutrition strategy and
action plan was the main initiative of AHMAC. In this number of vital actions have been taken
such as improvement in food supply in rural areas, promotion of family focused nutrition,
addressing nutrition issue etc (National Strategic Framework for Chronic Conditions, 2017).

Effectiveness of strategic frameworks to minimize health issues and improving health care
practices
According to Betancourt and et.al, (2016) strategic framework of AHMAC was quite
effective to minimize chronic health problems in the Australia. After implementation of these
strategic framework, Australian people get aware with causes which increase health risk among
them. They started taking healthy diet so that their health conditions can be improved.
Furthermore, promotional strategic framework has supported the government in identifying the
life style and routine of the people. By this way they have encouraged them to take healthy diet
and do regular exercise. This can support in improving their health conditions. After this
initiative number of CVD cases have got down to great extent.
As per the view of Arnett and et.al, (2014) strategic framework was effective in order to
improve healthcare practices of nursing. After implementation of strict rules and regulations
medical professionals were bound to provide quality care services to patients well. They
diagnosed them well so that medical professionals can provide them quality care according to
their health conditions. Implementation of advance technologies have supported in providing
quality care services to diligent those who are suffering from CVD. Now people are able to get
primary health care services at the initial level of cardiovascular disease.
Halfon and Forrest, (2018) argued that strategic framework was quite ineffective because
still there are many people those who are suffering from this disease. There is no specific action
taken by the government to reduce the risk factors due to which this disease take place in human
being.
RECOMMENDATION FOR FUTURE RESEARCH
For conducting the present study scholar has taken support of secondary data collection
sources. In future if individual gather data from primary data collection sources then it will
support in identifying the main risk factor due to which CVD cases are increasing. This will help
in making effective frameworks to minimize number of chronic cases in the Australia.
Furthermore, there are many other chronic diseases such as mental issues, diabetes etc. These
issues can be taken into consideration in the future studies.
In the current research, scholar has applied exploratory research design which has
supported the researcher is exploring facts about AHMAC and their impact on health care

practices. In the future, scholar should use descriptive research design, it may help the person in
describing each small element and its impact on health care practices.
