INTRODUCTION
Graduates needs to focus on their skills and knowledge for the future career
enhancement. The present study will be base on the career viewpoint where the researcher will
evaluate the own performance on the basis of personal analysis. On the basis of own SWOT
analysis of a graduate study further support the career action plan to overcome the weaknesses as
well. As according to the area of interest for which individual will develop an action plan is
Marketing Assistant.
Personal analysis
As marketing assistance I analyzed that there are different types of skills required in it. So,
on basis of skills a person is able to grow in their respective field. Apart from skills, it is
necessary to have knowledge about various things (Chughtai, 2018). This helps in providing
growth opportunities for person. I need to compare my current skills with those that is required
for role of marketing assistance. This will help me to identify which skill is crucial and how it
helps in this. I realised that there are various skills required. The main skills are interpersonal
skills. It is required to interact with people. Also, a person needs to analyse behaviour and then
apply tactics. Furthermore, a person must clearly listen, communicate and understand things.
But on contrary, my current skill is presentation skill. I am easily able to deliver
presentation to people. In this I know what body language is required, tone, language, content,
etc. to be used. Now, I can also develop attractive presentation and deliver them. I realised that in
marketing assistance role this skill is required but to some extent.
Furthermore, another skill that is essential for marketing assistant is marketing skills. The
individual needs to know product features, company info, market, etc. This makes it easy to
market product. Alongside it, knowledge is also required related to marketing process, types of
marketing, etc. This enables in doing marketing effectively.
Whereas my current skill is creative skill which allows me to develop strategies and find
out new ways to market products (Guittar and Rayburn, 2016). I possess knowledge on
different ideas of developing strategies and which type of strategy is applied and where.
Moreover, I am easily able to find out unique way of doing task.
Moreover, communication skill is important for a marketing officer. This allows to
communicate with people in different ways and to get their views. It shows various ways and
languages required to communicate with people. A marketing person must also possess

On other side, I realise that my current skill is public speaking. I am very good at
speaking in public. I can easily read essay in front of people. In this way I am able to develop
relation with audience (Chugtai and Ali, 2018). This skill is not useful for me in my current
field. It only focuses on interacting with public. So, I does not require this skill.
Strengths
After doing comparison I came to conclusion that I was strong in some skills. Due to my
strength I was able to work at that position. Moreover, my main strength was communication
skill. I am easily able to communicate with people. I like to interact with them and identify their
needs. It helps me to create strong relations with people. For example – I communicated with
designers and asked them for logos. My one more strength is creativity skill. I apply unique and
new ideas to promote products and attract people. Also, I think outside the box and attain my
goals. This helps me to become expert in my field. So, I am highly valued person. These
strengths have allowed me to develop new strategies for marketing.
Weakness
I analyzed that I was lacking those crucial skills that is required in marketing assistant.
Also, I was not possessing some skills and weak in that (Akram and Hasan, 2018). I was weak
in negotiation skill as I am not able to negotiate with others. This affected my performance. For
example – I was not able to negotiate with clients on basis of price. Another weakness was
managerial skills. I was not able to manage my work on time. I always got delay in following my
schedule. So, I had to take extra time for completion. My plans did not work same.
I realised that I was weak in doing analysis as well. This means that I faced difficulty in
solving problems. Due to that I took decisions that were wrong or not effective. It is highly
affecting my performance. I did not what option to choose and how to evaluate each decision.
