INTRODUCTION
Training and development is the strategic process through which an individual can
undergo personal and professional development for their career growth (Miller, 2017). This
report analyses my personal strengths and weaknesses and creates a dedicated career action plan
for my professional development in my efforts to pursue my career ambition of becoming a
successful Health and Safety Inspector within the construction industries of UK.
MAIN BODY
Personal Analysis
In this section of the report, I have conducted thorough personal analyses of my
professional strengths and weaknesses in order to identify the key operational areas and skills
that I need to further enhance and improve upon in the future. This would effectively allow for
me to successfully pursue my career ambition of becoming a successful and competent Health
and Safety Inspector within the construction industry of UK. Based on the previous exercise of
CW1, I have been able to effectively analyse the key skills and competencies required of a
successful Health and Safety Inspector within the construction industry of UK. This has allowed
for me to effectively compare my own skills and competencies to the required skills of a Health
and Safety Inspector in order to assess my own personal strengths and weaknesses which are
detailed as follows:
Personal Strengths:
One of the most key requirements of a successful and competent Health and Safety
Inspector within the construction industry of UK relates to them conducting their
operations in a highly ethical, moral and legal manner. This is also one of my key major
strengths as I have been taught ethical and moral principles from my elders even since a
young age and have always strived to conduct all of my personal and professional
endeavours in an increasingly ethical, moral and legal manner (Gould, 2017). Should a
Health and Safety Inspector come to possess an immoral or unethical behaviour, then

they cannot hope to conduct their daily operations in a successful manner within the
construction industry of UK.
Another major skill requirement of a competent and successful Health and Safety
Inspector within the construction industry of UK pertains to their developed problem
solving and analytical skills. Based on the comparing my skills to CWI. I have assessed
that my analytical and problem solving skills are sufficiently developed to allow for me
to conduct the daily operations of a Health and Safety Inspector within the construction
sector of UK in a successful and effective manner (Deiorio and et.al., 2016). This is
because throughout my professional and learning career, I have always been able to
effectively apply my developed analytical and problem solving skills to come to relevant
and required solutions.
Another major personal strength of mine that is key for me to be able to become a
competent and successful Health and Safety Inspector relates to my effective
communication skills, using both the English and Romanian languages. Being bilingual
allows for me to effectively communicate with increased number of employees within the
construction industry of UK to assess whether their health and safety is actually being
protected within the construction industry or not, which would not be possible without
my adequately developed effective communication skills.
Personal Weaknesses:
A major requirement of a successful and competent Health and Safety Inspector within
the construction industry of UK relates to them possessing a complete and comprehensive
knowledge about all the legal structures, legislations, regulations etc., that the of critical
importance for their daily operations. I do not currently possess such comprehensive
knowledge about the legal structures of UK, legislations and regulations that must be
ensured and adhered to by the Health and Safety Inspector and the business organisation
within the construction industry of UK (McKenzie, Coldwell-Neilson and Palmer, 2017).
This is a major professional weakness that I possess that hinders my ability to eventually
be able to become a successful Health and Safety Inspector and thus requires my
undivided attention.

Based on the previous CW1 exercise, it is evident that another key skill requirement of
Health and Safety Inspectors within the construction industry of UK relates to them
possessing comprehensive and up to date knowledge about the measurement instruments
that are used within the construction industry in order to ensure their optimum utilisation
by businesses. As I have been away from my professional responsibilities for the past few
years, being forced to look after my family, a lot of operational machines and measuring
instruments commonly used within the construction industry have been innovated and
updated due to new advancements in technology (Hartung and Vess, 2016). As I possess
no knowledge about the new operational machines and measuring equipment within the
construction industry of UK, this is a major weakness for me and hinders my ability to
become a successful and competent Health and Safety Inspector in the future and thus is
required to be addressed by myself in the future.
Career Action Plan
Based on my personal strengths and weaknesses, it is evident that I do possess some of
the key skills and competencies that are required of a successful and competent Health and
Safety Inspector within the construction industry of UK. However, my personal weaknesses also
include some of the key skills that are required of a Health and Safety Inspector to be able to
conduct their daily operations successfully within the construction sector of UK. This is why I
have created a dedicated career action plan that aims to address my personal weaknesses so that I
would be able to become a successful and competent Health and Safety Inspector within the
construction industry of UK in the future. The career action plan detailing the strategies through
which I can address my personal weaknesses is as follows:

Legal Knowledge I can improve upon my present knowledge of
existing legal structures of UK, key legislations and
regulations that are required in the daily operations of

industry of UK by reading books and research
journals on the same topic. I can consult the library
and the internet for such required books and journals.

guidance from my superiors within the industry who
