INTRODUCTION
Researching about the career involves extensive analysis and evaluation of variety of
alternatives available from which one can be selected to pursue which is in consistent with the
interest (De Vos and Cambré, 2017). The significance of the same is to grow professionally in
the sector which gives opportunities to be explored in future. The other part of the report has
explained the career choice for the concerned person. The post selected in this report is Store
Manager in the field of Sports and Leisure as it is growing rapidly. I have analysed some skills
and knowledge which are applied within the chosen sector. Also, I have conducted primary and
secondary research for gathering information regarding the selected profession.
PERSONAL ANALYSIS
Sports and Leisure industry is large in scope which includes activities like sport, health
and fitness, play work, outdoor pursuits gaming and many similar things. It has major
contribution in the economy not just from the point of view of revenue but also by creating job
opportunities. Furthermore, this industry focus on providing services by which physical and
mental health can be loaded with huge benefits (Starovoytova and Namango, 2016). This makes
it an attractive field to invest as well as get job for professional development. In current time, the
number of health issues have increased and people are replying on organizations to get results
which can make their health better. This has created additional job positions which can be
explored. The decision to become a store manager will give me chance to apply my skills and
knowledge for carrying out my responsibilities in order to fulfil the needs and requirements of
the customers. The skills and knowledge imperative for getting a job and becoming a
professional part in this field have been elaborated below:
Skills required
Communication- This skill is vital which allows exchange of ideas,perceptions, opinions
of the individual consuming the services. It is effective when there is two way communication as
it assist in having better understanding of the demands and needs. Furthermore, with the use of
this skill, the expectations of employees can also be identified (Pathardikar, Sahu and Jaiswal,
2016).

attitudes of customers. In this way, it can make adjustments in the existing products or services
according to the trends being followed in the current situations.
Conflict management- This skill should be possessed by every person working in firms
or corporations. With the help of this skill, I as a store manager will be able to resolved conflicts
and disputes among sub-ordinates leading to higher efficiency and productivity. It useful in
maintaining a peaceful environment at workplace which helps in better co-ordination
(Bozionelos and et. al., 2016).
Technical skills- Technologies are changing with the fast pace not just in the sector of
Sport and Leisure but in every other fields. Hence, this makes is mandatory for a store person to
have technical skills in order to have better management of the technologies prevailing in the
market.
Multi-tasking- According to this skill, a person should be able to do more than one work
other then the main activity. I as a store manager should know to balance different tasks and
functions by which all the activities can be managed effectively.
Knowledge area and experience
Accounting and finance- I have knowledge about various subjects that are connected
with accounting and finance (De Woot, 2017). According to me, these two subjects are important
for gaining information about various budgets, statistics and similar data along with techniques
that are used. With this, improved forecasting can be done for formulating decisions that can
contribute to create value for the organization I will be working in.
I have graduated from the college therefore, my experience can be limited. However, I
was ski instructor and coach, multi sport instructor for giving training to kids within the age
group of 5-11 years with an experience of 10 years in this field. On this basis of this, I have to
choose a career that can provide me opportunities for apply and polish my skills, knowledge and
experience for achieving the goals and work efficiently.

From the above report, it has been concluded that I have faced number of challenges
