INTRODUCTION
Career action plan is termed out as customized document that mainly creates to establish
career goals (Pipas, 2020). The present report is based on job opportunity as construction
manager. Thus, study is based upon skills to be successful construction manager. Furthermore,
this report will cover personal analysis to review skills, experience and knowledge relate with
chosen field. Also, study will frame out action plan that assist to undertake development in
chosen field.
MAIN BODY
Personal analysis
In order to identify the skills, knowledge and experience for chosen field, SWOT analysis
will be conducted so that strength, weakness, opportunity and threats can be undertake with help
of self evaluation ( Puurunen, Ikäheimo and Kajanus, 2020).
Strength-:
I have worked in xyz construction management company for 5 years and looked over so
many project of construction. I am effectively skilled in managing team work. Being the project
manager in the construction company, team working skill plays the crucial role. To accomplish
the successful project, I worked as to divided up the whole team into small section as per the
capabilities of members. Thereafter, I used to monitor the work of each member and assign them
day to day task so that effective result can be accomplished. Also, I have found that I have better
planning and communication skill. I used to get interacted with each member of team
effectively and talk them about the project planning so that they can be motivated and boosted up
to perform their best. Being the project manager, this is crucial to have technical skill as this aids
to enhance the learning of new software and also allows to conduct the task expertly by
examining the new trends in market. In current era, technology is one of major demand that
assist to carry out task with proficient.
I am very creative, I often impress client with new ideas on project. This strength of
mine also motivates me to do something with innovative approach. I have also habit of asking
question about the doubts with each member and my supervisor so that we all can able to carry
out the task with no doubt in may. This aids me to bring clearance in my project ideas. Also, I
am very much effective in coordinating the task and to bring out the competencies in each

individual so that effective coordination leads me to get positive outcomes (Kosti and Kundu,
2020).
Weakness-
In the course of my job, I have identified that there were some areas in which I was
lacking and that was affecting my all over productivity. Thus, one of the biggest milestone was
that I am not good in time management. My projects got delayed and this affects negatively on
the enthusiasm of other team members as well. I have realised that this is one of the biggest
hindrance of my career that is affecting my future capabilities. Also, I have found out that I am
also not that much good in organising skill as I got confused at time of multi amount of task.
This affects my managerial skill and also my productivity get negatively affected. Therefore, I
have the strong, compulsive needs to do the things in fast manner and I use to remove them from
my to do list. Sometimes, this affects my quality of work a lot. While I used to assigned more
than two or three project, causes me stress and this also brings negative result. Thus, one of the
my biggest weakness is that I used to get nervous while I present ideas to client and this fear of
public often impact my presentations.
Opportunities- The project manager career in construction management company offers the
number of opportunity to excel the career. By improving the skills, I can able to bring better
future advancement. The present trends of construction project is highly dependent on to bring
advancement in the use of technical, artificial intelligence and modern tool. This kind of future
development leads to undertake better growth in construction industry. By developing my own
skill can aids me to undertake better potential in my future. I am attending the major project
managers conference in the next month. It will allow me for strategic networking and this will
also allow me to offer some great training seminars.
Threats- The one of the biggest threat of mine is to existing competition in the market with
number of fresh talents. In today's era, there are number of individuals who are qualified and
expert in technical advancement. Due to this, competition among the employees in construction
industry is on peak. One of my colleague is much more creative than I am and he is competition
with me for the post of senior project manager. Therefore, the shortage in staff has negatively
affects my creativity and also leads me to delay in task. I needs to develop the competencies that
can aid me to stand out in the era of existing competition.

Henceforth, this analysis has helped me to evaluate my own strength and weakness. Due
to this, I have focused on my strength and weakness this leads me to look over possible
advancement of opportunities.
Career action plan
On the basis of personal analysis it is stated that I am lacking in some skills which I really
need to improve in order to take growth opportunities in Construction Company. It is important
to have communication, time management and organization skills in order to get job role in
Construction Company. Some areas in which I am not good and need to improve is: time
management, public speaking and organizing skills (Jafre and Hussain, 2018). With the help of
an effective action plan I can improve my skills and make myself competitive. This action plan
will help me out in improving by showing some ways to improve them such as:

the best software available for improving
time management skill is Tooggl plan. It
allows people to have an overview of
team plan, monitor progress and
responding changes quickly. Rather, this
tool, I can take help of time table by
making a chart or list of all important
work by marking them with expected
time of performing them. After that by
performing each work i can compare it
with expected time and the actual time. It
can help me out in improving time
management skills (Sainz, Ferrero and
Ugidos, 2019). One of the main thing
which can be the reason of lack of time

speciality of human resources of the
work, By analysing each factor in deep
manner I can organize all functions in an
effective manner.

Public speaking
skill
As I found that I face problem in
discussing ideas with clients and in front
of many people. I face public speaking
fear and lack in this skill which can have
bad impact on clients and my colleague
(Herbein and et.al., 2018). For improving
this skill I can speak in front of mirror by
assuming that people are sitting there and
no one is judging. Practice is one of the
best ways of improving this skill. For this
I can take help of my colleagues and
manager and saying them to held group
meeting every weak and by giving
presentation in that meeting I can
improve this skill.

Hereby, this can be concluded that career action plan termed out as document that carries
out task that needed to be complete in terms to accomplish the future goals. The present report
has covered the job opportunity as construction manager. Thus, study has covered the skills to be
successful construction manager. Furthermore, this report has outlined the personal analysis with
use of SWOT framework to review skills, experience and knowledge relate with chosen field.
Also, study has framed out action plan on the basis of weakness found in personal analysis to
undertake development in chosen field.
