INTRODUCTION
Career Development can be defined as those programmes which are implemented at workplace in
order to enhance the working capabilities of the employees and these career development programmes
will also improve the efficiency as well as the performance of the employees. The career development is
beneficial for both the business organisation as well as for employee himself. If there will be a good
career development plan in an organisation it will not only increase the efficiency of the employees in
order to gain rewards and incentives but also the goals of the company can be easily achieved. It is a
proven fact that growth of any company is directly dependent upon the efficiency of its workers. In this
report the researcher will focus upon various topics which are necessary and beneficial for career
development such as Personal Branding, Networking & Professional Mannerisms & Curriculum
Vitae.
CAREER DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYABILITY
Personal Branding
Nowadays Personal Branding is one of the most important way through which a good job can be
found. This personal branding shows the positive impact upon a person in a long term. The Personal
Marketing can be defined as “A way by which a person promotes himself by showing its talents and his
careers as a brand”. It is a best way to come into limelight in order to get known by other people in the
market. With the help of personal branding a person can leave a positive impression upon others so that it
can show people that who is he and what all qualities he possess. This personal branding will help a
person to show that to other people that why working with him will be beneficial for them(Litchfield,
Hirst and van Knippenberg, 2020).
This personal branding is gaining very much importance in today's world. The today's world is
full of competition for everybody whether it is for a person who is searching for a new job or an already
employed person. This personal branding gains importance because with the help of this personal
branding a person can show its capabilities and efficiency which will make him unique and professional
people will want to work with him. A person who will be working upon building his personal branding,
there are high chances and possibilities that due to this personal branding he will achieve a higher job
position and also achieve more success than others. The other importance of this personal branding is that
it will lead in identifying and recognizing the work done by the person in the professional market and

there will be more job opportunities available to him as his capabilities will be known by all the
professional people(Vondracek, Lerner and Schulenberg, 2019).
There are various strategies or tips which can be followed while developing the personal branding.
The person who wants to develop his personal branding must stuck to its Authenticity. It is a proven fact
that a person must show his real capabilities to the others and does not show the exaggerated version of
his capabilities. If a person will be trying to fool other people regarding their capabilities at the end of the
day it will be a loss for him. While developing the personal branding a person must ensure that he is
showing real facts regarding his skills, values and efficiency(Machaz and Shokoofh, 2016).
The next strategy which can be adopted while self branding should be showing Consistency. A
person's personal branding will be negatively affected if he will not be consistent towards its work. The
person should do the task assigned to him within a prescribed deadline in order to show his sincerity and
consistency towards the work.
While building the personal branding, an individual must ensure that his surroundings are full of
positive people so that the person will be able to efficiently manage the time and available resources so
that growth can be achieved in the future.
Networking and Professional Mannerisms
This term basically means that building the professional relationships. This emphasize upon
meeting new people who are there who work in the same profession or industry and develop a fruitful
relationship with them. In each profession a person's personality and his manners plays a crucial role
while getting recognition in a profession. It is a general perception that a person who is well mannered
will be more efficient in dealing with the clients which will help in the growth of the company.
This networking and professional mannerism is very important factor which plays a crucial role in
career development. By adopting this, there will be chances of getting more opportunities and also there
are high chances of recommendation through people with whom professional network has been
established while applying for any job(Sherman, 2017).
While focussing upon establishing an efficient professional network, it must be taken into
consideration that the professional networks must be established with the right people who can help in
building the career. It is also necessary that a person should be in touch with his established professional
contacts on a regular basis so that when the actual need arises there must not be a hesitation from both the
sides. A person establishing a professional network must be presentable before other people and this can
be done only if the person is well mannered.

Curriculum Vitae
A Curriculum Vitae is a document which includes all the skills and capabilities a person possess.
This document indicates not only the educational qualifications of an individual but also the previous
internships or jobs which a person has done in the past(Vallas and Christin, 2018).
The importance of this curriculum vitae is that it shows the suitability of a person for the job he
has applied for. This is the first document upon which the employer will decide whether the person
should be called for an interview or not. By examining the CV of a person an employer will determine the
suitability of the candidate for the job.
While preparing a Curriculum Vitae, it must be taken into consideration that the CV must be
mistake free. Apart from educational qualifications the strengths of the individual must be there in the CV
so that the individual will get an upper hand over other candidates.
ASSESSMENT REFLECTION
The best way through which a person can develop his career is that to increase his professional
networks and behave in a well mannered way. As increasing different professional networks will help the
individual in getting more contacts which will benefit the person in getting more job opportunities.
Regarding the mannerism, it is a proven fact that the recruiters will be having more inclination towards
that employee who will be behaving well mannered.
I have implemented this way of developing professional networking and mannerism in developing
my career which has helped me a lot in getting various opportunities. Wherever I went for an interview
for getting job I was recommended by at least one professional as I have focussed upon maintaining good
relations with various professionals of my industry. At time of developing my professional network I
have emphasized on the fact that I should present myself in a well mannered behaviour due to which I am
having a very good image in the minds of the people with whom I have made professional network.
CONCLUSION
By the above research it can be concluded that career development is very crucial to get proper
opportunities for an individual. There are various ways through which the career development can be
done such as Personal Branding, Networking and Professional Mannerisms and Curriculum Vitae. All
these ways must be adopted for career development in a particular strategy so that the individual can get
more growth in his career. The best way develop the career must be increasing the professional networks
with behaving in a well mannered way so that people can recommend an individual for a job.
