As we know that an individual aims to get better employment and the appropriate career
development in the future. Now days competition took place on the greater extent and
unemployment becomes the major challenge for every nation. Hence, it becomes difficult to
find out the better career opportunities and employability(Majid, and et. al., 2019). There are
various students studying in higher education required to focus on the career development
and employability skills in order to get better job opportunities. It helps them to reduce the
impact of unemployment. The students required to focus on the work based skills and
personal skills which makes them one step ahead from the competition. These skills are
important for students when they work in an organisation. It helps them for their professional
growth and enhances their working capabilities within an organisation. Skill development
contributes to personality development and boost confidence among students. This essay
describes the various aspects of career development tool such as personal branding and
curriculum vitae along with its importance and strategies. It further describes the assessment
reflection of personal skill based assessment and work based skill assessment that includes

Career development and employability
Career development is the process helps to determine the career growth whereas
employability refers to get engaged in job opportunities. Both career development and
employability play an important role in the student’s life in order to explore their talent and

employability and career development in which some of them are mentioned below as:
Personal Branding
Personal branding refers to the different combinations of skill set, values and ethics which
makes an individual unique from the others. It is basically a process of developing the brand
identity for an individual. It is used to market yourself in the competitive
environment(Khedher, 2019). Personal branding helps to determine the results that what
other people think and say about an individual behind your back. It is an individual reputation
which can make or break their career as well. Personal branding helps an individual make
them different from the crowd. It also leads to explore various opportunities during career

development process. For the personal branding, it is important for individuals to reflect their
skill & knowledge through personality as well as behaviour. It is crucial for students and job
seeker to develop personal branding skill in order to sell themselves to an organisation to
seek better opportunity. Personal branding creates positive impact on career development and
employability which reflects when an individual speaks and represents himself in front of the
employers.
Curriculum Vitae
Curriculum Vitae is often known as the CV. It is the professional documents which includes
the educational qualifications, skills, strengths and work experience of an individual. It is
essential for job seekers which is represented in front of the employers in order to get better
job opportunities(Snowman and Kucharska, 2020). As we know that how curriculum vitae
plays an important role for job applicants. It also essential for the students for their career
development and employability in the future. It creates the first impression on the employers.
Therefore, the curriculum vitae requires to be more effective with including all significant
information. It is essential to have relevant information in the curriculum vitae in order to
increase the chances of getting job opportunities. There are numerous tools used to make
attractive curriculum vitae for the different job profiles. It is also important to skill to develop
attractive curriculum vitae for the students. It helps them to differentiate themselves from
others and provides competitive edge.
Assessment Reflection
Personal skill: Motivation
I have completed an assessment which is based on the personal skill. I have chosen the
motivation at the workplace in the personal skill assessment. In this assessment, I learned
various new methods which is related to the motivational skill. I found that how motivation is
an important aspect of employees working in an organisation. I have utilised my own skill
that affects the motivation of employees at the workplace. With the help of this assessment, I
have analysed that to become the efficient and effective at the workplace, self motivation is
important. There are many times that employees find difficulty on certain tasks and to take
full responsibility in regards to the organisational goals, motivation is the key factor that
encourages them towards the achieving objectives of an organisation(Sotiriadou and et. al.,

2020). As an employee in any organisation my priority is to make sure that I am adding value
to the organisation by completing assigned tasks effectively. I also found that rewarding and
recognising the performance of employees play a crucial role for motivating them. It
encourages employees to further do work with more capability and responsibility as well.
With the help of this assessment, I leaned that failures are created negative impact on me and
are the part of the learning. Hence, I am focusing on developing the abilities of being
motivated when I face failures at the workplace. And I know that being recognised for the
work motivates me to do work even harder.
Work based skill: Verbal reasoning
I have completed the assessment of work based skill. I have chosen verbal reasoning as work
based skill topic. I have learned that verbal reasoning is a problem solving skill based on the
words & languages. It is the ability involved in understanding the concept defined through
words & language. I learned the ability to recognise vocabulary to engage and to understand
the written & verbal language. I have identified that I am not as good while interacting with
other people in the organisation which can create the various issues. In this assessment, I
have learned that to boost the confidence level and in order to enhance the ability of effective
communication verbal reasoning is necessary. With the help of this assessment, I have
analysed that verbal reasoning plays an important role for career development and
employability of employees as well as students studying in higher education. I have leaned to
better understand the sequence of letters and to define conclusion from limited resources or
information. This assessment of work based skill helped to spot odd word in the group. With
the help of this assessment, I will develop the strong vocabulary and knowledge of work
which will me for my career development & employability.
