Overview
A person is at his best stage of life when he is working on their own areas of interest. It is
said that follow your passion and you will never feel boredom while working. Hotel
management is the field which I consider as the area of my interest as it helps me to know
people and work on fancy things that I like. It is believed that the hotel management industry
is one of the toughest industries to work in because it requires interacting with people and
ensuring that the service delivery is according to their expectations only. Currently, I am
studying Business Management as this course will help me to attain information about the
external markets and grow without making errors (Brathwaite 2018). Being enrolled in the
managerial course, I developed the opportunity to find my inner capabilities to become a
wonderful manager, especially when it comes to the field of hotel management I believe that
it is one of the best suited job for me based on my capabilities. In order to achieve the success
in future prospects, I need to attain the key strengths like, learning skills, individualization,
adaptability, focus, necessity, futuristic, communication, responsibility, discipline, harmony
and positivity. All these factors belong to Clifton Gallup strength framework that helps a
person in achieving career goals effectively. My career aspiration is to work at a position in
future in the hotel management industry where I do not need to perform the tasks but manage
all the things and supervise the actions. My aim is to satisfy people and provide them
efficient service delivery as well (Jha 2016).
Relation of Theories with Career Development
Clifton is a strength based approach to management and leadership powers that helps the
people in identifying their qualities that can help them to grow. All people present in the
environment have a unique combination of skills, talent and knowledge that they make use on
regular basis in their lives to perform their work and achieve their goals effectively. Further,
Johari Window is a technique that is used to help people understand their relationship with
themselves and others in a better way (GALLUP 2018). These two tools will help me in
identifying my areas of growth as well as the areas where I am better than others. With the
help of such information I can easily excel in the target market by working on my capabilities
and appropriately presenting myself in front of the jury. These theories will constantly help
me to become a good person and develop my career opportunities as well.

Key Strengths for Designation
The strengths in my behaviour according to Clifton Gallup theory and Johari’s Window are
consistency, harmony, includer, positivity and relator. These theories help in attaining the
desired objective in the target market and refining my strengths in the market. These five
strengths are identified through the framework that will further assist me in my future
prospects of life (Self-Awareness 2018). These strengths will help me in building relationship
and shaping my career according to my needs and requirements. Initial strength is
consistency; consistency refers to the ability see what is fair and equitable to other and work
on them accordingly (Cowan 2016). Consistency is all about maintaining balance in the
work. This strength will help me to treat all people equally in an organization and eliminate
differentiation in the society as well. Further, include behaviour will help me to involve
people and initiate team work as no organization grow with the contribution of few
employees and not the whole team. Positivity strength will help me to keep myself positive
and other people motivated in the actions of the company. Relator behaviour will help me to
enjoy close relationship with other people of the company and share a bond with them.
Lastly, strength of harmony involves the look for consensus. Harmony strength will help me
to dissolve organizational conflicts and seek areas of agreement as well. I would effectively
make use of all these strengths at the time when I will face difficulty in my career. These
strengths will help me to keep myself motivated and achieve the targets defined (Smith
2016).

resorts in the worldwide market. The hotel chain is headquartered in US and works to
efficiently to provide best quality hospitality services to the visitors in the target market. The
Hilton chain is regarded as one of the largest hotel brand in the world. This brand targets both
business class as well as premium clients in the market. The group usually place their hotels
near airports, city centres etc. to attract more visitors with them (Hilton 2018). The company
utilizes Hilton Honors guest loyalty program under which they provide exclusive discounts
along with different amenities to people booking from the official website of Hilton. The

named Dallas Hilton in the year 1925.
Rosewood London
Rosewood London is a 5 star hotel based in London, England. The hotel was formerly named
as Chancery Court and was located at 252 High Holborn in Covent Garden neighbourhood of
the West End. Talking about the history of the hotel, it should be noted that the building was
opened in the year 2000 and comprises of four blocks. In the year 2000, the hotel was opened
and managed by Marriott International under the Renaissance Hotels brand and was named as
Renaissance Chancery Court. However, this alliance subsequently ended in the year 2011 and
the hotel operated as an independent Chancery Court Hotel until its closure in the year 2013.
The hotel was closed for the purpose of renovation that further led to the plan of reopening
the hotel in the same year as Rosewood London Hotel (Rosewood London 2018).
Comparison
The Hilton hotel chain is a luxurious hotel while the Rosewood hotel is as regional hotel
based in London. There is huge difference in the background, history and ethics. There is no
doubt in the fact that Hilton treats its visitors with utmost respect and priority but the
management of Rosewood treats its visitors with the culture and ethics of London. Hilton on
one hand has uniformity in service providing facility while Rosewood on the other hand
provides services based on the background and nature of the customers. In this way it can be
said that the functioning of Hilton is much more diversified and formal as compared to
Rosewood. Further, it should also be noted that the ethics of the company Hilton aligns with
my personal characteristics in a better way as compared to Rosewood. As Hilton has its own
formal and strict code of conduct due to which it is more related to my nature as I believe
managing all things in a single format eliminates conflicts and confusion in the business that
increases their level of satisfaction (Draaisma, Meijers, and Kuijpers 2018). Also it should be
noted that Hilton is a large scale organization that will provide me better exposure in the
environment and will provide better career development opportunities as well. So, I believe
that based on my personality and capabilities I need an exposed platform that will provide me
opportunities to exercise my skills and train other people in environment as well
(Cunningham 2017).

Job Title of Interest
The current job title that interests me the most is ‘Hotel Manager’. The Hotel Manager is a
person who makes sure that all the employees of the company are consistently working to
deliver the service to the visitors according to their expectation. The role of a hotel manager
varies based on their approaches, end goal etc. Below mentioned are the tasks that a hotel
manager needs to perform in the business (Chapman 2019).
Personnel Management: the hotel manager needs to manage the interest of employees of the
company so as to keep them motivated and directed in the right direction. In a service
delivery organization, it is important for the manager to keep the interest of employees with
the functions of the so that they can delivery adequate satisfaction to the customers in the
target market. Employees are people who deliver services to the customer in the environment
so if they are satisfied then they will satisfy the customers as well.
Quality Service Delivery: This is the responsibility of the hotel manager to ensure the quality
services are delivered to the customers in the market. The hotel manager needs to himself
make sure that the services provided by the employees align with vision of the company.
Client Satisfaction: It is the utmost requirement of a service delivery organization. The
manager needs to ensure that the services are properly delivered to the customers in the
market and they are satisfied with the functions of the company. If not, then the manager
need to make sure that they provide them additional benefits to increase their level of
satisfaction in the environment.

well as on field practices in the course of action (Jackson, and Wilton 2016). So, I believe
that this diploma course will surely help to define my personality and differentiate myself
from the crowd.

generate and attain few opportunities in the environment by taking advices from them so as to
gain more experience. Thus, it should be noted that fact will definitely help me to improve

In the course of the training program, a thanking event was attended by me which helped me
to gain experience about live events. The Thank You party was organized by the company

observed the client communication there which helped me to analyse the ways in which the
manager treat the satisfied as well the unsatisfied clients. On the same time, the event gave
me the insights of internal process conducted by the management and the service delivery
process. There I gave a major attention to customer service skills, teamwork, and creative
problem solving and having a thorough knowledge about the local resources so that I can
manage it properly and put my all the gained skills for success (Chen, Cheng, and Chew
2016). I gave attention on the presentation details, decorum of employees and food details.
Further, along with this, I also attended an informal party where I got to know about the
experience of different people regarding the course. This aspect helped me in analysing the
level of competition in the market and feature that I have but other do not possess (Anastasia
2016).
Performance in Mock Interview
I attended an interview that was conducted by the university and I was selected for the job
application of Hotel Manager position with Hilton Hotel based on my skills and qualification.
On reading about the job I got to know that I qualify the personal description requirement of
the company. Later on, I was called for the interview where I represented myself in front of
HR manager and other dignitaries present who were a part of Hilton. I began with introducing
myself and later coming up to my qualities and how strongly I aspire to become a Hotel
Manager. Further, I implemented STAR approach to continue with the explanation. I
appropriately described the situation where I had worked further going on to explain my job
expectations and what actions I took in response to comply with the goal. Lastly, I presented
the positive results achieved from the event which summarized the interview as well
(Vondracek, Lerner, and Schulenberg 2018).

Reflection on Learning
Thus, in the limelight of all the events, it should be noted that I learned and developed my
personal as well as professional skills with the completion of this module. This module
helped me building blocks of different activities and aligning the interest of two people in the
same activity (Litiano, and Major 2016). Through this training session, I gained the grip on
my top five strengths which I am sure will help me in my career development. I have the
consistent quality to manage things with harmony so this training helped me to attain a
positive outcome through these activities.
