Career Management Through Networking
An answer to the question why one should network makes this topic a top take away.
To network is to connect or get in touch with many people of like minds, it means putting
oneself strategically for such benefits as job opportunities, business expansion, and fame
among others. Professional, business gurus, companies, entrepreneurs all need platforms to
network and expand or create an admirable image. An image that will ensure they never lack,
are popular and they get the life satisfaction through money and/or job opportunities (Jane
2008: 23-27). There are hundreds of well-known musicians who gain fame and of course
wealth just because they are well networked. They develop connections with a large number
of people, companies, businesses who in turn hire them for purposes of entertainment at some
fee. By this way, they are able to meet life demands and satisfy life desires. Avenues such as
online business platforms, online sites, social media among others opens chances where one
can get hired, employed, and attain set goals in life.
Networking knows no boundaries. It cuts across all hierarchies of life and runs from
the lowest to the most important or highest level of life (Simon 2010: 81-87). Every
individual wants to be connected, contacted, and most importantly, find a means of earning.
A number of individuals have ventured into the world of entertainment and are making
tremendous progress just through networking. Millions of people surf the internet and social
sites just to catch a glimpse of the entertainment they offer; be it action movies, soap operas,
or comedy. What makes such progress a possibility is through networking? One’s abilities,
talents and/or skills is best known through such platforms that enable networking. This is
possible only through developing networks and finding avenues through which one can get
their life desires met. The 21st century has become very competitive and survival is possible
for those who are outgoing and are aggressive enough. Achieving a competitive edge is only
possible through one means and that is networking.
