Management is a way of getting things done by other people. Throughout the evolution of
manufacturing, supply chains, and social and technological change in human history,
management has evolved dynamically. Management is an essential part of business and it has
always been the secret to success for the bigger industries. Management is something that keeps
the business in balance and takes care of the needs of the employees and the goal of the
organisation. This report will explain how new management trends are changing the business.
This report will also discuss the economic changes the trends have brought. Three new trends in
management will be analyzed in this report. They are as follows: 1. Change is becoming a
continuous process; 2. Digitization is changing business models; and 3. Employee engagement.
This new trend has been on the rise. Time has been different and modernized these days. New
trends are occurring due to different situational needs and problem-solving. These and other
trends have been adopted by business organisations to solve the newly emerging problems of
modern business. As I have a desire to make a career out of business and management, I find
these trends helpful in understanding management more and setting my career guidelines.
Acknowledging the trends would prepare me to battle the problems in real life, and it would
enhance my experience of adopting new methods. This learning can also guide my future career
decisions as it will let me know what trends I can adapt and work on in the future. Management
always has new trends coming across as it has a close connection to technology and innovation.

Change is becoming a continuous process.
We are now in a time where innovation and research facilities are way beyond our imagination.
Rapid changes are happening because of different modifications that are being made to the
product as well as management. Organisations are now adopting new technologies and
management systems by replacing the old ones. Because anything that is backdated will cause
problems such as it will not being as productive as the new one; it will not fit into the other
newly adopted supply chain (Carnall,2014). Organisations are attempting to adopt technological
strategies and improve business procedures by improving their IT infrastructure within the
organisation and adopting different IT development and management strategies to be better than
their competitors. It is a race among organisations to adjust their work to be better. Small
changes would lead organisations to bring out the desired outputs.
Impact on my career
Changes would happen both positively and negatively. This trend and learning from this trend
show that changes are now a form of survival in the business market nowadays. If I need to
survive in this competitive job field, it will be an advantage for me and it will keep me ahead if I
can adopt new methods of working in any situation that emerges (Markos, and Sridevi, 2010).
This trend has also shown how slight changes can have a big impact on the profitability and
success of an organisation. New ideas and their implementation are also big learning from this
trend. It helps me to make decisions knowing the risks, but it can also help me to open new doors
of opportunity.
Digitizing is altering business models.
Digitization is not a decision; it is a necessity. As we can see, the whole world is changing
through technological factors and it affects our lives so much. Businesses are no different. It is
now a call of the time that organisations have to be more advanced in IT and management
through technological advancement, as businesses need to be efficient and better than their
competition. Otherwise, a company that lacks the backing of inventory and technology will be
quickly eliminated from the competition (Hanelt, et al 2015). Digitization is no longer an option;
it is now an important part of the decision that helps to mobilize the business with the

advancements of global trends. For example, not so many years ago, it was difficult to imagine
the world being this small. Now we can easily communicate and break physical boundaries. It
has created so many opportunities for businesses to thrive. Therefore, it is important to be
successful in this field that organisations adopt different business models that best suit the digital
world.
Impact on my career
This trend makes me realize how important it is to be updated just like the machines and
software in the market to compete. I am now starting to work on my software skills and become
more knowledgeable in the field I desire to work in (Seetharaman, 2020). It is important to make
decisions that would make me more advanced than others. This segment of digitization indicates
that I need to have more soft skills and practice to understand today’s business better. Without
knowledge of the digital world, it will be hard to comply with the competitors.
Employee Engagement
Researchers suggest that there was a time when people produced to survive. With time, they
were past survival and needed stability. Hence, they invented jobs. After that, today’s generation
is the generation that is hungry for recognition and status. It matters to most of the employees
that they are counted as an important part of the organisation (Crowley‐Henry, Benson and Al
Ariss, 2019). Psychological and physical comfort in the workplace and the environment of the
workplace matter the most for employee engagement. If the employees are not rewarded or
recognized, it has been proven that organisations are less successful than organisations that are
more careful about their employee participation in various decisions of their chain of command
from top to bottom. Modern management is now dropping the traditional ways of training as they
aspire to value their employees, make training and get them on board with every decision. They
are now listening to their employees' ideas and getting feedback on the decision (Handa, and
Gulati, 2014). This helps the employees to be more efficient in decision-making and
communication as they can speak about their opinions and are valued for their ideas. In this
trend, employees are now treated well and organisations are trying to make them feel
comfortable in their workplace. Organisations are now approaching contextual and situational
training as needed.

Impact on my career
This trend is my favourite among the others, as it aspires to build a healthy and work-friendly
environment. It has also been shown that this trend is bringing more efficiency to the workplace
as it helps to identify the true potential of employees by giving them the floor to contribute their
ideas. It helps me think of myself as a more open-minded and transparent leader of the
community (Konyu-Fogel, 2015). This helps to be more efficient and diversified in creating
ideas and decision-making. Employee engagement boosts the bonding of the workplace, and
satisfied employees tend to be more effective for the organisation.
PESTEL analysis
In this part of the assignment, I will be analysing the political, economic, social, technological,
environmental, and legal aspects of my three chosen trends in management. PESTEL analysis is
done to evaluate factors that make the situation clear in any discussion.
Political
Change becoming a continuous process is not only a trend for businesses to adopt. This trend is
also true for political factors. Continuous change is a process of development in a nation. If the
changes are effectively contributing to development, governments should try to adopt them and
work on them too (Hughes,2018). The government also tries to improve and facilitate those areas
where the success rate is high and helps them to implement SDG. For example, the US
government has banned gas or oil-fuelled car manufacturing rather than encouraging car
manufacturers to build hydroelectric or fully electric cars to obtain sustainability shortly.
Digitization is now a part of new trends in government too. The more a country is digital, the
more opportunities it finds (Prastacos, et al 2010). It is considered the most prominent feature of
a developed or developing country. Digitization helps the authorities of the government to be
more efficient in their work and to help them ease their progress.
Governments are now trying to create facilities and safety for the work environment despite the
business. The rules are strict monitoring for people’s safety and comfort. Employee engagement
helps the government identify what is needed in a workplace.

changes of modern life (Loebbecke, and Picot, 2015). During the pandemic, online social media
became the platform for socializing.
Digitization has changed the structure of society. The communication system has been so
advanced that people can connect themselves in so many ways from far away. It has made the
cultures more over-spread. People can now adopt other cultures through digitization.
Employee engagement has enabled workplaces to be more diverse in terms of ideas and cultural
impunity (Yüksel, 2012). Studies show that a team that has diversified people is more likely to
create an idea or implement one that is sustainable and good for everyone. It has become
acceptable too.

The change process we are talking about is also technological. Technological advancement
explains the advancement. This has helped many countries and people to work from home, still
helping them contribute to the economy through technology (Myers, Hulks, and Wiggins, 2012).

The process of change has affected the environment too. It has many good impacts, as many
sustainable energy sources can be used soon. It will help reduce the impact of different fuel-
burning and oil-fueled energy sources by stopping them (Sundaram, et al 2020). The changes
have led us to many man-made problems as well as natural ones. We can now find a cure.
Digitalisation has helped the world to raise awareness of the differences concerning issues and
make them aware of the consequences. Many have contributed to the environment by
empowering the voice of nature (Yüksel, 2012). It has also helped to keep humans safe from
different natural calamities.
Employee engagement has helped the world to be a better place.
Legal
Changes have not been accepted by every country all at once. As human beings, we resist
change. As it makes them work harder to adapt or adjust to the new changes. In addition,
established practice and its change sometimes require a lot of paperwork.
Digitization, though, helped the authorities to be more transparent. However, in some ways, it
has also made the infrastructure vulnerable as hackers are committing different types of cyber-
crimes and violating the rules using soft skills (Blöbaum, 2014). As knowledge has been free for
everyone and not everyone has the best intentions, it becomes harder to make adjustments for
good and bad.
Employee engagement has helped to build a strong community that serves as many great changes
in authority and has helped to demolish the negative impacts of racism and other types of
practices that were deemed legal but were harming people's psychology.

Connections among the three chosen management trends
I have chosen three new trends in management that are currently being followed by many
successful enterprises in the world. My chosen three trends are changes becoming a continuous
process, digitization altering business models and employee management. If we closely pay
attention to the chosen topics, we can see that the continuous process of change deals with
digitization too. In addition, as we are living in a digital world, we must be in constant practice
of change. The digital world is now called the global village. It has become smaller as we can
reach people across the sea and borders (Myers, Hulks, and Wiggins, 2012). Therefore, it creates
workplaces that need to be more open-minded and employee engagement is necessary because
today's workplace is more diverse than before because of globalization and digitization.
Therefore, as we can see, the business has emerged into a new era of adopting new strategies,
technologies, and workplace strategies. This way, the chosen management trends are
interconnected.
Positive Impact of new trend management on my career
The good impact of the new trend management on my career is that these trends are now in
practice in almost every organisation that I would like to work for. Changes are a constant part of
development, and during this time, businesses are fierce in competition. These trends are a
lucrative source of efficiency in business organisations (Yüksel, 2012). To be more efficient and
useful in an organisation, it is important to know about those changes in trends. It helps me to be
prepared and know about the challenges it might bring. This also helps me to know how these
trends can be used in the industry. Employee engagement is the most effective trend as I aspire to
be a leader and manager in the future. It helps me understand how to unite and engage employees
as a team and be successful.

This new trend in the organisation does have some bad impacts if the knowledge of digitalisation
is not sufficient. It may risk the security and safety of information. Anything new is risky in its
