Introduction
The Airline industry labor market has significantly changed since the intervention by the
Airline Deregulation Act that was formed in 1978. Employment opportunities have increased
over the years due to most airlines shifting from using small aircrafts to big ones. Flight
attendants are highly needed in any airline industry due to the increased number of customers
flying by air. The work of a flight attendant is to make sure that passengers are safe and to deal
with emergencies that arise (Flight Attendant source, 2018). They also show passengers on how
to use safety tools as well as serve them with the meals that they require. This way they make
travelling very comfortable and classy to everyone. Flight attendants that are trained
professionally have an advantage since they can work in companies that deal with executives and
private planes. They can also work in restaurants, real estate, transport and storage and
communication companies.
Flight attendants are also given opportunities in the airline industry to grow and advance
their career. In that, some may become supervisors, move to base manager then vice president of

and locally. The SWOT analysis helps to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and
threats of the company to help them in coming up with good decisions as well as tackle problems
when they arise (International symposium SymOrg, 2012,1224).
Strengths
The major strength of the company is that it is efficient. This has been made successful
due to the number of workers that was increased. They also have good team work and when
there is any challenge, they can communicate effectively. According to the Air Transport
Society, 2003, the workers in the company have really brought a few improvements. The
company also has a good relationship with customers as well as it is well situated in the big cities
that have major businesses and this generates profit. Workers in this company are also able to
work efficiently since the company provides the right equipment such as office furniture as well
as vehicles for each employee to tackle their duties and responsibilities. Maximizing profit is the
main objective of the company. (Cook & Billig, 2017, 315)
Weaknesses
One major weakness of the company is that there are activities of corruption. Corruption
is a major cause of companies being declared bankrupt in the country. Workers also lack
motivation as well as the management system is also very poor in the company and this leads to
poor customer satisfaction. This leads to the loss of customers and lowers the company’s ratings
(Morrell, 2012, 212). The company should collaborate with workers to deliver good hospitality
services to stay competitive. Another major weakness of the company is that each year the profit
generated fluctuates which leads to shareholders quitting the business. To avoid this, it is the role
of the management to ensure that they are fully trusted by the shareholders.

Opportunities
There is growth in the airline industry market and this presents an opportunity for the
company to make an improvement on the management system. To be competitive as explained
by ( Naderi, 2018) the company needs to motivate and offer training to the employees. To be
able to also be on top, the company should adopt to technology changes and innovation to
improve their services. The company also has an opportunity to attract many customers by
setting prices that are affordable. It may also be competitive by coming up with services that
include airline hygiene maintenance which will impress customers. American airline requires
grabbing these opportunities before other airline to be on top of the global market,
Threats
Threats affect businesses negatively. Major threats that are posed to American airline
include; the fuel became expensive (Odoni, 2015, 425), cost reduction to stay competitive,
demand for technology upgrade and labor union laws and demands. In other countries, there
might be hostile people and attack by terrorists which is a major threat to the airline. (Greer, C.F.
and Moreland, K.D., 2003, 427-441). To be able to curb these threats, the management should be
able to come up with ways to increase the amount of money being spent on insurance covers
which will help to make sure there is safety. The employees should also be on toes to make sure
that the services being provided are of good quality as emphasized by (Wensveen, 2016, 262)
