INTRODUCTION
The self-reflection is referred to an recalling own learning and experience which leads to
identification of learning (Carver and Carver, 2012). The self-reflection mentioned to be a great
tool to become a good learners or a teacher. The reason reflection are being undertaken is that
experience and mistakes can be referred to as one of the greatest teacher. The additional features
which are introduced with the help of reflection is that an individual gets motivated and there is
an strong possibility of identification of progress which has been carried out in the meaningful.
This report carries a personal reflection and personal and professional development plan which
has been undertaken by the individual prior to the completed on the project design and
implementation assignment. There will be an demonstration of the skills and evaluation

plan will be constructed so that an individual emerges to be more employable.

It has been identified that learning through reflection and experience stands important but
researchers have been informing time and again that actively thinking upon those circumstances
and behaviours and further questioning them is the crucial approach through which learning can
be facilitated. I have been able to ask myself question relating how well did I do? And what can I
do better if the same circumstances erupts in the near future. They help in the catering deeper
analysis of the behaviour which leads to fulfilling the task in the future in an improved manner
through questioning decisions and circumstances. The reflection caters me with marginal steps
which could be taken so that future endeavour are to be performed in a better manner. People
generally tend to focus on the negative feature of a project but the self-reflection helps in
understanding positives in a project. This assignment generally focus on the self-assessments
which are carried out by me in an safe and structured manner. The personal experience of an
individual helps in identifying strategies which have worked and tactics which does not.
There can be numerous approaches to self-reflection which can be undertaken by an
individual. The renowned model of self-reflection which can be undertaken are Dewey's 5 stage
Model, Boud's triangular representation and Gibbs's and Kolb's learning style (Jeffries and

Jeffries, 2012). For this particular assignment Gibb's reflective cycle has been emphasized. This
model helps an individual in exploring the situation and assessing what better could have been
done in those circumstances. The project which was undertaken by me focused on gaining skills
and activities which leads to becoming a competent human resource manager in an organisation.
The project which was undertaken describes the crucial details which are focused on the project.
The learning contract which has been focused is an attempt to uplift personal and professional
skills so that I emerge to be more employable in the future. The feeling which has been availed
by me after undertaking of this project have been great. There was a feeling of nervousness in the
beginning but as the project progressed I got a bit more comfortable and made numerous
attempts so that learning can be facilitated. When I look back at the situation I can see that there
is an rise of confidence in me identifying feeling and thoughts of others relating to an event help
in ascertaining circumstances and behaviour from the perspectives of others.
The next step which focuses in forwarding stages attempts to evaluate the performance of
self. I believe that I did just fair during the project and have been successful in uplifting my level
of skills and confidence which is a good thing. The bad experience in this aspect can be said that
I was expecting that there will be an equal contribution of all the members in the project which
doesn't turn out to be true as they were very casual in their approach. Considering all the
positives and negatives of the project, they are to be analysed thoroughly so that final conclusion
can be derived (Baldwin, 2016). It can be finally concluded from the self-assessment that I have
been successful in gaining lot of information about the manner in which human resource
manager in an organisation. The positive aspects which I can conclude prior to undertaking of
this project is that there is an influential impact upon my knowledge and skill which is being
termed essential for a human resource manager. The negatives of this project undertaken is that I
was expecting it to be a bit more encouraging and help me in being successful in my domain but
the lack of participation from the rest of the group have brought down my excitement and
ultimately affecting my learnings.
It can be said that there are numerous aspects which I have garner through this project
which were untouched by me. The knowledge and domain which I have attempting to enter is
very different from the work which I have done in the recent past. The department for which I
am planning to venture is completely different from the work which I have done in the past. I
have been able to attain additional information relating to the manner through which right

being catered by human resource manager is very different therefore the attainment of skills and
knowledge to venture in this segment is completely different from the manner in which I
perceived it before taking up this learning project. The attainment of this knowledge will
definitely make an individual more employable and will be able to make best out of the
opportunities which are provided (Bauerband and Galupo, 2014).
I believe that there is a value attached to the skills and knowledge that has been attained
by me with the undertaking of this project. I have been undertaking the course of CIPD which an
association of human resource manager carrying out their activities in the economy of United
Kingdom. The professional working in the human resource department are known to provide
right resources for an organisation. It is essential to practice an approach of continuous
improvement which has been catered through use of Gibbs reflective cycle. The reflective
practices which are undertaken by an individual helps in enhancing their behaviour and
knowledge on a regular basis leading to provision of better services to an organisation. The
reflective practices helped me in being familiar with my behaviour, feeling, skills and knowledge
so that they could be further improved leading to favourable results. I have been successful in
gaining familiarity with learning approach which have helped me in reflecting upon my negative
experiences and assure that they are being countered with undertaking numerous programmes.
The exposure to distinct environment and challenges helped in enhancing skills and
knowledge which adds value to the my personal and professional capabilities (Lan and Huang,
2012). The challenges which I have met were encountered which can arise due to factors such as
lesser confidence and less familiarity with skills of human resource manager are being countered
effectively through undertaking of reflective practices. Not only it adds value to personal and
professional knowledge, it helps in redefining the manner in which an individual thinks or gets
over the ethical dilemma which are encountered by a human resource manager. The major
advantages which could be achieved by me is that the service delivery will be improved along
with focusing on requirement of workforce for an organisation. The contract have helped me in
concentration of the areas which does not match benchmarks and improving the same so that
better services are offered to an organisation.
The attainment of new knowledge definitely impacts the manner with which service is
delivered. It has been identified that knowledge for a business stands most vital as it assures that

undertaken have definitely reflected upon knowledge and skills. It leads to an improvement on
the personal and professional grounds. The new knowledge will help me in availing
opportunities which relates to being human resource manager for an esteemed organisation. The
reason for the same is that nourishment skills of time management, communication and decision
making along with enhancement of knowledge is considered vitally while looking for a human
resource manager for an organisation. The employees who are able to portray cited skills and
experience are considered as an asset for an organisation and are supplied with numerous
opportunities to grow on professional level (Moon, 2013). When allotted with a project, I will be
able to confidently apply gained skills and knowledge in the work that I will do which will lead
to attaining favourable results for an organisation. The alteration will be carried out in altering
the manner in which operations are designed and carried out. The presence of experience and
knowledge will lead to formulation of better strategies for the future. The new knowledge and
skills can be applied on the personal level as well. I will be able to establish right set of balance
between my personal and professional life so that every aspect of living could be fulfilled.

The model which has been undertaken in this Gibbs' reflective cycle which is often
employed by individual who are looking to conduct a self-assessment. Professor Graham Gibbs
gave this reflective cycle in Learning by doing in the year 1988. The reflective cycle have been
categorised on the 6 stages which helps an individual into forming conclusion related to the
learning activity which has been undertaken. The reflection which has been carried is a crucial
approach through which development activities are formed by an individual. It is referred to be a
good practice which revolves around personal and professional development of an individual.
The reason for which this reflective model is undertaken when compared to others is that this
model is being categorised on small practicable components which helps in identifying learning
from undertaken projects (Shangwei and Danping, 2012). The guidelines which were being
followed by me stated that there should be on the analysis part so that right conclusions could be
formed. The remaining part tend to focus on statement relating to what went good or what went
bad?.
The aim of this model of reflection is to challenge assumptions which have being formed

applying his knowledge in a practical manner.
I possess adequate working experience is talking assistance from Gibbs' reflective model
in order to become more employable and suiting to the requirement of being a human resource
manager in an organisation. I possess a positive outlook of life which tends to influence my
capabilities to motivate others in fulfilment of their tasks. This segment on the report focuses on
the first week of undertaking project which has been pretty exciting for me. I have been pretty
excited and nervous which undertaking of such project. The reason for opting for such project
emphasizes on the manner through which skills and knowledge relating to department of human
resources could be fulfilled. The feeling which have been availed with this project are
unmatchable. The feeling prior to opting for this experience is pretty different as I was not very
confident whether I will be a good human resource manager. I was surprised to see that there was
so much to gain which I feel to be overwhelming. There were so many aspects relating to human
resource development which I was not very familiar with and eventually understood and
practised on practical grounds. The reaction during the experience cannot be described in words
as it was too much to absorb within a short period of time.
The first week can be referred to be as phase of transformation in which I was surprised
to be see that there is too much to learn and gain which will be helpful to me in leading an
improved professional grounds. There is an different feeling altogether prior accomplishment of
the project. I can say that I possess improved knowledge on such grounds and there is higher
confidence in me which is being reflected in the interview process as well. The knowledge which
has been availed by me feels different as I am able to portray my knowledge and experience in
front of others and will definitely score a job in the organisation exclusively in the human
resource department. I am being optimistic which considering my future and will be able to lead
a better life on personal and professional grounds.
I can definitely say that I have never had such feeling of optimism before and it can be

I can says that there is an positive impact on the skills that I possess along with gaining

performance can be delivered. Due to lesser flexibility I was not able to grasp as faster as other
members but once I understood the matter it will be difficult to be forgotten. The manner through

carefully so that right approach is to be selected. While giving out final presentation, I was able
to interact with audience in a decent manner and deliver competitive results. There is a feeling of
satisfaction to a greater extent as I have been able to achieve what I intended and that too for a
greater extent. However there is a some dissatisfaction as well as I was not able to absorb
theories and concepts of Human resource which can be reflected through practices which I have
been carrying out.
There is a certain extent of validity to these feeling of satisfaction as I have been able to
incorporate and implement practices which relates to human resource in an organisation. The
application of the practices in real life situation can provide with suitable experience which could
be further reflected in an interview for the position of human resource manager in an
organisation (Chen, 2014). Such instances provides an individual with competitive edge over the
other applicants for the position. The reflection provides us with an opportunity to deal with
different circumstances which arose while learning and caters with distinct approaches through
which it could be countered. The approach to such circumstances will be more patients and
practical rather than packing and losing the situation out of hand.
It can be said that there will be a change in reflection with the change in the models. The
renowned model of reflection are Gibbs', Kolbs' and Dewey's model of reflection. There is pros
and cons relating to every technique which has been employed for the purpose of conducting a
self-assessment. The analysis of various reflective cycles will helps in getting additional
information relating to the subject and identifying their discrepancies. For the purpose of
conducting a self-assessment I have opted for Gibbs' learning cycle, reason being it is the best
approach for starters and categorised on the 6 easy stages. The stages which are defined in this
learning style are exactly which a person goes through while experiencing an event. This model
consists of numerous criticism as well, the foremost reason is that there is no scope for gathering

perspective of other which are involved in an activity. It lacks the intensity which is being
promoted by other model of reflection. Therefore it can be said that, If I opted for any other
technique of self-assessment such as Dewey or Boud's triangular representation it would have
more depth and intensity and analytical approach rather than being descriptive and would be able
to achieved results which are distinct from the existing ones. Most importantly, another reflective
models takes into account personal reflection along with consideration of intellectual grounds
and reflection dialogue which helps in defining state of emotional and activeness of a person.
Reflection is useful for me in being familiar with the aspects which are not emphasised
by me. The participation of individual in new experience cater learning which can be further
reflected upon and major issues could be understood. It is a tool through which meaningful
learning can be identified so that it could be applied in the future endeavours. It is helpful in
delivering a meaning to the experience and defines how well have I performed?. It is helpful in
understanding of opportunities and challenges which are persistent in the environment and
