Travel and tourism is one of the fastest growing industry in United Kingdom that lead in
generation of employment opportunities and revenue in the economy. The aim of the report is to
understand about key trends impacting travel and tourism and skills required to get job in similar
industry. So, this report has discussed impact of changes happening in the industry like
globalisation and technology on travel and tourism sector. Moreover, it has consisted information
related to key skills, knowledge and experiences required by graduate applicant in order to
pursue career in travel and tourism sector.

through making use of both primary as well as secondary method. The study has also included

companies are able to expand their business operations in different parts of the country in order
to earn higher profit margin. Globalization has impacted on recruitment of graduate in tourism
sector as nowadays employer wants a individual that have sufficient skills to work in global
environment (Robinson and et.al., 2019). Thus, it means it should have sufficient knowledge
pertaining to external environment situation in order to get job in well-established international
organization in future professional career.
TECHNOLOGY: It can be stated that there are various growth and development in technology
that has enforced companies to make use of digital media in order to attract and retained
maximum number of customer's in the organization. Likewise in recent trends many of the HR

employees in the firm. They make use of machine in order to scrutinized individual that does not
have pertaining skills and knowledge related to specific field. Thereby, company is able to select
right individual at right place within limited time for effective operations of business (Zopiatis,
Theocharous and Constanti, 2018). Moreover, the employer in tourism sector analysis whether
the individual have sufficient skills and capabilities related to digital technology or not. Thereby
recruit person that have better command on digital technologies so that several tasks or activities
of company can be completed in effective manner.
SUSTAINABLE TOURISM: The another key trends impacting tourism industry is sustainable
tourism as people and government are forcing companies to undertake various activities that
resulted in protecting of environment and natural resources. Tourism has caused lot of pollution
or negative effects on environment and resources of country thereby it has become crucial for
company to plan activities related to the same. Therefore, this trends needs to be kept in mind by
university graduate in order to decide key action that could be used to provide maximum benefits
to people that are living in the society (Lee, Lee and Dopson, 2019).

Graduate applicants in order to apply for specific role in tourism and travel industry must
have sufficient skills, capabilities and experienced so that it can easily complete respective task

employment in tourism sector is multitasking ability. It must be able to complete various
task simultaneously within specific time limit so that services can be rendered to
customer's in minimum time possible.
Digital skills: It is also one of the necessary skills and ability that helps an student in
getting job in tourism and travel industry in future circumstances. In recent scenario,
most of the operations are completed through new technologies so individual must have
capabilities to make the best use of computer to perform various task (Higham and
Miller, 2018).
Problem solving ability: From the primary and secondary research conducted it has been
identified that individual must have capabilities to resolve problem that are faced by
customer's while having services of company. Problem solving ability will helps student
in tourism industry to provide better services to customer's thereby leading growth of
enterprise in terms of profitability and market share.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
The research has helped in understanding that the university graduate must have good
knowledge and experience related to cultural awareness or preferences of people and current
trends or fluctuation in the market. Such as:
Culture awareness: The individual must have awareness about culture, belief and ethics,
value of diverse range of people that are living in the society. Knowledge about culture of
people will helps the individual in delivering better services to customer's thereby leading
in expansion of enterprise in global market.
Knowledge about recent trends: Another knowledge and experience required by people
to pursue career in tourism and hospitality industry is knowledge about changes happing
in external environment. There are numerous changes in market that directly impact on
company profitability and market share so individual must have knowledge about it to
complete its respective task (Khorakian and et.al., 2019.). So, it can be stated that
knowledge related to changes will helps in performing task and meeting needs of
customer's beyond their expectancy.

It can be illustrated that currently there is vacancy of Interim marketing and e-commerce
consulting manager in Hilton hotel of United Kingdom. Hilton is largest and fastest growing
company operating in tourism and hospitality industry to delivered extreme qualitative
experienced to customer's. I am interest to apply for the same job role in future circumstances as
I have quite knowledge as well as interest in marketing of products/ services of company through
e-commerce platform so that maximum number of customers can be attracted. Moreover, I wants
to state that there are certain key skills that are present in me such as communication, digital and
multitasking abilities that will helps me in completing my professional in tourism sector. At the
same time I am interested to gathered relevant information about existing trends, preferences of
people thereby find alternative method regarding the way they can be meet for achievement of
company goals (Moura, Mira and Costa, 2021). So, all these factors has motivated me to pursue
my career as marketing interim and e-commerce manager in one of the reputable organization
with an objective to gain experience and more success.
I would also suggest other to pursue their career in one of the reputable organization of
tourism and hospitality industry as marketing interim as it has wide scope in terms of salary,
experience and future growth. Marketing manager is needs by each and every organization in
order to promote the company to maximum number of people that are living across worldwide or
in different parts of the world. Many companies are putting vacancy of marketing manager that
has capabilities to promote company image by making use of digital platform thus it helps in
providing number job opportunities to diverse range of people (Winchenbach, Hanna and Miller,
2019). Therefore, it can be stated that there are opportunities to apply for marketing interim in
Hilton hotel in order to get higher growth and success in future professional career.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it can be concluded that students requires different skills,
knowledge and capabilities in order to get selected in specific company for growth and success
in professional career. Furthermore, globalization and development in technology are key major
trends in external environment that has adversely impacted tourism and travel industry in recent
scenario. Therefore, a graduate applicant must have knowledge about their impact in order to
effectively pursue the career in same field in future circumstances.
