INTRODUCTION
Career view is defined as the roadmap which assists students and other graduate adults in
taking decision of their future career plans. This choice for future career plan is dependent upon
the skills, capabilities and knowledge of that person (Armstrong, and Taylor, 2020). For this
report, chosen profession is role of HR manager. HR management is a crucial part of
management of the company. It is an important component of every organisation, whether a
small scale of large scale company. The main role of department of Human Resource in a
business is to manage, monitor and control workers or employees of that company. This report
covers various concepts like effect of general trends on HR profession, various requirements to
perform job role of HR efficiently and in effective manner. In this report, advert for this chosen
job role is also prepared. In addition to this, it is also learnt that how it will be useful for graduate
people.
MAIN BODY
Positive impact of general trends on HR profession in an organisation
In context of a company and business setup, Human resource manager is contributing a
large part in attaining efficiency and success by capitalising capabilities of human resources.
They perform this process by devising effective strategies and policies so as to achieve optimum
utilisation of employees in company. Furthermore, company is also contributing in provide
support to development of growth chart of career of employees. In addition to this, HR manager
also impact the performance of human resources in organisation as HR manager is concentrating
on monitoring and controlling of work culture in organisation. It is a well known fact that
business world is visualising continuous changes and it is also impacting the functions of a
business. In similar manner, these trends are also impacting the chosen profession of HR:
Replacement of traditional business practices with digital technology: Today's world
is becoming techno savvy and in every segment, there is an increased use of technology. This
trend in impacting every operation of the business, rather it be production, marketing, finance
and even Human Resources. Technology has impacted the HR department in the way that they
have to mange the human resources of the company as well and at the same time, they have to
develop good relation with others as well (Bratton, and Gold, 2017). Innovative digital
technology also includes internal and external mobile apps or cloud based technology. Thus, it is

significant for HR manager to have proper knowledge about the technologies so that they can
easily execute their business activities in an effective way.
Globalisation: It is an ever increasing trend around the globe. This trend has almost
turned around the style of managing human resources of the company. In this relation, if a
business is planning to expand its operations overseas, than there is a pressure on company to
change its style of managing human resource activities. This change occurs due to the fact that in
case of going international, there are several practical changes those needs to be incorporated in
operations like recruitment, selection, training and development and also the technique of
retaining employees in the company. Therefore, HR manager is responsible for managing diverse
workforce by understanding their different culture and ways of operating. This can be beneficial
for HR manager in promoting innovation that contributes in attainment of all the set targets in an
effective way (Chelladurai, and Kerwin, 2018) .
Online skill assessment: It is basically an expansion of proliferation of use of
technology in business world. Online skill assessment is a process of conducting inspection into
skill set of prospective clients through online channel. This technique helps in creation of
effective pool of talented employees. In this technique, there are several tests such as, surveys,
tests, quizzes and exams that are allocated to employees so as to gain knowledge about them and
also to provide them a chance of performing self assessment. This inspection tool will be helpful
in improving the productivity of their employees so that they can reach to organisational goals
and objectives in an efficient and effective manner.
All the above trends are affecting the operations of human resource department in huge
manner. To incorporate required changes in accordance of these trends, it becomes necessary for
HR managers to achieve knowledge about these trends. This will be helpful in performing the
roles and responsibilities of HR manager in efficient manner. If they include all the trends within
their activities than they easily attain their targets and also enhance organisational performance.
Requirements to perform the job of HR manager in effective and efficient manner
Human Resource management can be explained as a set of policies and decisions that
they formulate with an aim of managing the employees of an organisation in efficient manner.
This will be helpful in for human resources manager to effectively manage and retain good and
effective employees in the company (DeCenzo, Robbins, and Verhulst, 2016). The primary
function of Human Resources of an organisation is to structure and develop programs so as to

manage employees in an efficient manner. They are responsible for formulating strategies and
ensuring that company is an attractive working place for potential employees.
Skills required to fulfil roles of HR profession:
Communication skills: This is the most important skill that a HR manager must possess.
This acts as a channel of interaction between management and employee level. It is the
main role and responsibility of a HR manager to make employees comfortable and make
them familiar with the working culture safe and secure for employees. They should make
them capable enough to solve the conflicts and issues of employees. It is very important
for them to establish good employees relations with their sub ordinates.
Management skills: A HR manager should have managing capabilities so that they are
able to cultivate effective and efficient performance from their employees. This will only
be possible if they are able to establish good relations and motivating working culture in
an organisation (Marchington, and et.al., 2016).
Team work: The main component in success of an organisation is ability to perform and
work in a setup of team and also in collaboration. HR manager should be able to function
in a team and also should ensure other employees working in team and collaboration.
This will be helpful in driving effective work from employees in an efficient manner.
Collaborating refers to the ability to work with the experienced professional belong to
other field. The individuals with these skills provide value to organisation and is essential
for building career in this profession.
Scheduling skills: Another important skills that HR professionals must possess related to
time management and it means that employees should have the skill set relating to proper
scheduling of tasks and activities in accordance of requirements of process. It comes
under job role of HR professionals to formulate strategies and plans which assist
employees and management to achieve desired goals and objectives.
Pro active: In addition of defined roles and responsibilities of HR manager, it is the duty
of human resource department to act as mediator between employees and employers of
that company. If a HR manager is pro active in its management skills that it will assist
them to identify issues in advance and prepare everyone for this challenge. Furthermore,
it will help HR personnel to convey problems and issues to both employees and
employer.

Knowledge required for HR profession
Personnel and Human Resources: The main function of HR department is to recruit
and select individuals. To perform this function, it is important for them to have
knowledge regarding the process of recruitment and selection. There are other processes
as well that needs to be followed after procuring employees, such as, training and
development, formulation of compensation plans, employee relations, negotiations and
maintaining personnel information system.
Administration and management: According to this requirement, HR must have all
related knowledge of theories and models of business and management. These models
and theories include theories of strategic planning, process of allocation of resources,
different leadership styles in accordance of requirements, production methods that are
used in industry, human resource modelling and coordination of people and resources.
These all policies and knowledge sets are required so as to formulate plans and policies
with an aim of filling gaps between competent staffing (Mondy, and Martocchio, 2016).
Experience required for HR profession
Critical thinking: This acts as a vital aspect which HR manager has to take in so that
they can play their responsibilities well in a dynamic environment. It is necessary that HR
mangers analyse and find solutions for a difficult situation and they are able to respond
accordingly. This will be only possible in case if they are concentrating on critical
decision making with an aim of bringing out rational behaviour.
Relationship Building: This is an obligatory step so as to gain expertise in making
career in HR profession. The main essentials to build relations with employees are
effective communication policies and empathy with all fellow employees. This is also
helpful in improving the performance of organisation and this ultimately results in
achieving organisational goals and objectives (Brewster, and Hegewisch, 2017).
