Activity 2
To achieve success in any kind of business, it is important for the business to ensure that
it is able to make a complete assessment of the performance of the business (David and David
2016). The financial performance of the business is required to be assessed in a timely manner
and with respect to this, it is required to be understood that, all the organizations need to make
considerate estimations with respect to the business operations and undertake measures to ensure
that the firm is able to attain success in the long run. The different Key performance indicators
which can be largely made use of by the different restaurants as well as the cafes can be stated to
be as follows:
Food categories
The food category can be adequately described as the different categories of the food
which will be required to be kept by a restaurant (Ansoff et al. 2019). When the restaurant is able
to divide up the food category wise, then they will be able to figure out and make an assumption
of the different types of food items in the form of the dishes are being sold to the customers and
the gains which they are earning out of the given set of sales. Once the restaurant is able to
measure the performance of the firm category wise, the control of the costs become considerably
easier. Moreover, calculating the costs of the categories is much simpler in nature as compared to
the calculation of the cost, consumer wise.

Net sales
Another KPI which can be send by the business can be stated to be the Net sales of the
restaurant. The net sales can be defined as a measure whereby the financial manager of a firm of
the organization tends to measure the overall sales as incurred by the firm with respect to a
particular time frame (Bratton and Gold 2017). This measure not only assists the organization in
ensuring that it is able to track the total revenue earned by the organization but also assists in
understanding that the customer count can be made and the overall costs which have been
incurred by the firm can be taken into consideration.
Activity 3

similar to that of the role of any general manager in a firm and hence, they also follow a
generalized HR life cycle:
Recruiting and Selection: This stage tends to form the first stage of the employee
lifecycle in an organization and with respect to this, the firm would be required to ensure
that the make the selection of the different employees like the managers based on a
certain criteria. This shall then be followed by the overall selection stages of the Food and
Beverage manager through which he is made to undergo various tests which will assist
the firm in selecting the best person as possible (Lasserre 2017).
Introduction and Career Planning: In this second stage of the Introduction and Career
planning, the Food and beverage manager would be introduced to the overall operations
of the firm which will then be followed by the overall career planning stage. The career
planning stage shall outline the performance of the employee which is expected out of
him in near future and ensure that, the employee is motivated to perform considerably
well.
Career development: In this aspect, the employee who is the manager is shown the way in
which he will be successfully able to progress in the long run (Carnivalcorp.com (1),
2018). He is provided a succession planning report with respect to which is guided with

respect to this, the HR life cycle will not only help the firm in guiding the employees and
motivating them to perform well but also goes a long way in assisting the firm to retent the talent
within the firm. The HR lifecycle helps to find the right talent and formulate ways to retent them
in the organization and hence, assists the firm in attaining its overall objectives.
Recommendations made for improved documentation
To ensure that the overall clarity and data of the restaurant is arranged adequately, the
organization would be required to ensure that, they will be successfully able to manage the
records and then later on apply this, when the need arises (Noe et al. 2017). This goes a long way
in assisting the firm to attain overall success and to ensure that, there does not arise any
miscommunication with the employees and their performance records. This documentation
comes in useful during appraisals and other such related aspects.

support them and try and understand their perspective. Once the firm will be able to
understand the employee perspective, then it becomes considerably easier for them to
engage in success with respect to the long run.
2. Another measure which can be adopted by the organization to ensure that they are able to
engage in considerable success can be related to the measure of incentives. All the
employees as working in the firm, require some kind of a motivation in order to work
towards the welfare of the firm and hence, with respect to this, for the firm, this kind of a
motivation comes from the incentives. Hence, if the employees in the restaurant are
provided with considerable support to perform for the welfare of the firm.

The different measures of improvement which can be adopted by the firm for the
Performance management plan can be stated to be the:
Decrease in the Staff turnover rate
Increase in the net sales
Importance of HR Life cycle for overcoming the issues of staff retention
The HR lifecycle also has a role to play in improving the overall staff retention rate of the
firm. This means that, if the overall life cycle of the Human resource is carried out successfully,
it will assist in increasing the overall employee motivation which will then go a long way in
ensuring that the different employees remain focused towards the overall goals of the firm and
