Globalisation is the process which links the suppliers, consumers, businesses present around the
globe with each other. It means that the world is getting interlinked by trade and culture
exchange. Globalisation is becoming more important in the modern world when the government
of all countries are also focusing on increasing foreign trade. Global business environment refers
to the environment of different countries having different factors from each other, having a trade
of resources and products with each other. Globalisation has a huge impact on business
organisations. The following research is based on Carrefour. Carrefour is a food retail business in
the UK. The research provides the positive impacts that globalisation has on the business of
Carrefour.

The aim of the research is to investigate the positive economic, cultural and ethical impacts on
the operations in the food retail industry.
Research Objectives
The research objectives which are the main purpose of conducting the research are as follows:
To determine the impact of globalisation on food retail business.
To collect and analyse the secondary and primary data related to the benefits of
globalisation on Carrefour.

There are various factors which have led to the selection of this topic for carrying out the

According to Kuepper, (2018), globalisation is one of the main factors which have contributed to
bringing the economies of all countries together. Globalisation has made the production of
products and services reach different parts of the global economy. Globalisation has led to the
potential growth of the organisation working in the global economy. A number of benefits are
provided by globalisation. It provides an incentive for the countries to specialise and benefit
from the application of comparative advantage. Access to larger markets is means that the firms
get higher demand for their products.
As stated by Cincera and Ravet (2014), globalisation has changed the working structure of the
organisations by modernising the organisation and focusing more on commercial objectives. For
serving in the global environment it is very essential for the organisation to change the internal
policies of the organisation. Adaption of globalisation has led to an increase in the success rate of
the organisations. Increased competition at the global level has led to a reduction in the price
level. Globalisation has also resulted in an increase in imports and export across countries, which
allows the organisation to gather resource and also increases sales. For accepting and adapting to
the globalisation in an efficient manner, the organisation needs to develop and change their
organisational policies.

Methodology
Research approach
For the implementation of the research, two research approaches can be used, which are
qualitative and quantitative research approaches. The qualitative research approach is effective
for the purpose of conducting research for the topics such as human behaviours, views,
suggestions etc. that the research topics which contains non-numerical information (Hammarber
et. al. 2016). The quantitative research approach is effective for research based on numerical
information. It helps in effectively analyse the collected data and generate outcomes (Hoe and
Hoare, 2012). In the present research which is studying the positive impacts of globalisation on
Carrefour, both the research methods will be used. The use of both qualitative and quantitative
research methodologies is referred to as the mixed methodology of research.
Research technique
The various techniques which can be used for conducting the research are as follows:
Questionnaire: It is a method of conducting primary research. It is used along with a
mixed methodology research technique to gather information from large sources. It is an efficient
way of recording information. It involves the formation of a close-ended set of questions and
answers are provided by the research investigator.
Interview: It is another method of collecting research data used in the qualitative
research approach. It is an effective way of collecting research data when the number of
participants involved is low. Unlike questionnaire, interview involves open-ended questions for
conducting the research.
Case study: a Case study is the method of secondary research conduction. It is a data
analysis method. A case study helps in analyzing the different factors related to the research
topic.
Data collection methods
For collecting data in the present research, the questionnaire will be used for collecting
information. It is a very effective method for collecting data from the target audience. By
applying the questionnaire, close-ended questions will be asked by the researcher.

Data Sampling and analysis
Selection of appropriate data sampling and analysing technique is necessary. Data sampling
technique helps in properly managing the gathered information. The data collected in this
particular research will be sampled randomly in a simple way. For the analysing of the sampled
data, MS excel will be used. For the purpose of producing effective outcomes, the graphical
analysis will be used in this research (Manjunath et. al. 2019).
