There are complex and multiple needs encountered by individuals due to lack of access to
healthcare to economic, social and behavioural issues. The training and skills are required in
such cases while making decisions in processes helpful in building self-efficacy and
confidence of clients towards optimal health. Furthermore, approaches for addressing needs
are client engagement, motivational interviewing, self-determination, and strength-based
approach. It is vital to provide a care duty to client while working with multiple services to
support; also, it is essential to address the way considered for it which is difficult and
important when maintaining therapeutic alliance with clients having COD (co-occurring
disorders). The ways to address are counsellor having the ability important for managing
biases and feelings arising when working with COD’s clients also referred to as
countertransference sometimes (Haex, et al., 2020). It is possible by examining the disorder
status of each and every individual and alerting them about the relapse signs.
There can be use of empathic, supportive, and culturally appropriate approach primarily
along with differentiating beliefs and behaviours important for origin cultural from those
indicating mental disorder and requires care. Hence, there is increase in structure and support
with the duty of counsellors for helping clients with such conditions while making steady
progress during the time of recovery and taking care of them. Moreover, the role of
coordination is based on client needs prioritized along with minimizing concerns and
avoiding confusion, services duplication, and case conference meetings facilitation. In this
role, stakeholders are engaged highly in cooperation towards achieving the common goals
along with formalized communication systems, client-centred approaches, comprehensive
scope and coordinated service delivery (Isaacs, et al., 2017). It is essential to have effective
leadership in such role along with benefits of collaboration as well. This makes an
organisation look unbiased and help in stimulating common objective and facilitating
movement for good overall beyond individual agendas.
