The positive examples of social interaction in this case is-
Sandra Fairley has already started the session with two employees when Mike arrived
and the way she responded to Mike was good when she asked him “We’ve already begun Mike,
so can you grab a seat quickly? Mike was late for the session and instead of apologizing, he was
blaming the subway for the delay. Sandra might insult him at the time he came. But due to her
positive social interaction, she behaved in a good way.
Negative examples of social interaction in this case is-
At the time of live rehearsals of outbound call, Mike asked Sandra if he can skip part of the
script, because according to him it was embarrassing. After sometime e again interrupt in
between and suggest Sandra that it should be done one on one with the manager. It was a
negative interaction as Mike was not supposed to give advice to the manager on the very first
day of the job.
The most serious negative example is when Mike suggested Sandra to do the training in other
way he wants. This is the most serious negative example because it was the first day of Mikes
training and he should not behave in such a way and Sandra is providing training from a long
time so she knows very well that which training method is effective or not.
Many concepts from ethics can be applied in the given case and one of them is ethical
behavior at workplace. Every person need to behave in an ethical way when he is at workplace.
Workplace ethics are somewhat different from general ethical principles as there is some code of
conduct to be followed by employees at workplace. All the companies specify what is acceptable

and what is not at workplace. So, Mike should behave according to the code of conduct followed
in the company. He should be obedient to the manager and do the tasks according to her without
any interruption.
Before-and- after scenes based on this case-
Scene 1- Mike enters training-
Before: He sat there in the training and told the reason for coming late. He blamed the
subway for the delay.
After: He should come and apologize first and then sit.
Scene 2- Laura and Mike talk over lunch-
Before: They keep talking and Laura noticed the time and realized that they are few
minutes late for training. She told Mike that it’s time to go and Mike said that ‘I doubt
she will notice us if we are a few minutes late.
After: Mike should understand what Laura is saying and he should go back to the
training with Laura instead of questioning him.
Scene3- Training begins-
Before: Mike said Sandra to do training the way the way he wants and he interrupted
between the training twice.
After: Mike should try to understand the training and give his 100%. If he faces any
problem in training, he should personally talk Sandra about it.

Positive demeanor plays an important role at workplace as there is a high probability for
positive people in getting selected for a job. A person who has positive attitude always gets
appreciation and promotion in a short span of time. Such people are always manager’s favorite
and create a level of confidence among the team.
