In the case of Peter, a biopsychosocial spiritual model will be followed for the purpose of
assessment of the case. By the complex collaboration of biological, psychological, and social
factors development of mental illness can be assessed is termed as the biopsychosocial model
(Daher et al., 2017). For the purpose of assessment, according to the Biopsychosocial spiritual
model, a clinical interview will be conducted with the Peter in which all aspects of his life will
be asked to fulfil the need of the model.
Dimensions in Biopsychosocial spiritual model
According to the biopsychosocial spiritual model, the question will be asked form the
client. Biologically, the client’s medical history will be analysed. Pre and post-natal history are
much more important for assessing the biological problems of the client (Yoon et al., 2015). Any
problem that is related to the client’s family or genetic issues in the family will also be
considered. Also, effects from the medical problems will also be discussed (Saad, & de
Medeiros, 2016). From the given data, the client’s current problems of stomachache and
headache are considered under the biological problem of the client.
According to the psychological factor, the client’s history forms his childhood to current state
will be assessed through a clinical interview. Peter’ behaviour with others, relationship problems,
the lifestyle of the client, believes, parenting style of peter’s parents will be included in
psychological problems (Glen & Gabbard, 2013). Any traumatic events of his childhood,
relationship with siblings and parents are the most important dimensions that are included in the
psychological model (Beauregard et al., 2014). Currently, Peter’s conflictual relationship with
his wife due to his teenage children’s issue, sleeping problems from three month are
psychological factors that distress him.

According to social factors, client’s relationship with his family and friends will be taken
with the help of a clinical interview (Moreira-Almeida et al., 2016). While taking a clinical
interview, the social relationship will be assessed from his childhood to his current state
(Beauregard et al., 2014). Peter’s social circle from his home to his workplace all will be
considered under the social factor of the client. At present, peter has not an active social life, and
he has an appropriate relationship with his colleagues.
According to Spiritual factor, the client’s belief system, religious community to which he
belonged, his childhood experiences about religion all will be discussed under the spiritual model
of the client. Any good or bad experiences about spirituality also are considered under the factor
of the spiritual model (Saad, & de Medeiros, 2016). Currently, there is nothing mentioned under
the spiritual model in the client’s case.

Have you ever taken any medical or psychological treatment before?
Is there anyone else have a psychological problem in your family?
How did you spend your spare time?
How many friend you have? Describe the relationship with your friends?
What is your hobby?
What is your religion? How much time you spent in your holy prayers?
Describe your relationship with your friends and family member?
All the questions will be asked from the client according to the biopsychosocial model
that can give a complete picture of this holistic approach.

Peter’s mother would be included in the assessment process because Peter has a close
relationship with his mother. Because of the close relationship, he will be discussing his life
aspects with his mother that will be helpful in the assessment of the client. As Peter has a
conflicted relationship with his wife, that’s why he might be shared most of the things with his
wife.
Peter’s mother will be explained better about his pre and post-natal problems, childhood life
either he has friends in his childhood or not. How’s his behavior and relationship in his
childhood. In short, Peter’s mother can able to explain all the bio-psychosocial spiritual aspects
of Peter’s life.
Defining the problem to the peter
According to peter’s assessment, Peter can be psycho-educated about all the
biopsychosocial spiritual aspects of Peter’s life. It can be discussed under the bio-psychosocial
spiritual Peter’s problem of sleep might be due to the psychological problems. Peter is facing
conflict relationship with his wife that is due to the issue of his teenage children might be the
cause of his sleeplessness. Case conceptualization with the reference of bio-psychosocial
spiritual aspects will tell the peter the link between his psychological problems and sleeplessness.
Peter’s problem of stomachache and headache can also be considered under psychological
problems because there are some psychological disorders in which biological problems are
mainly the manifestation of psychological problems. These aspects will be discussed with the
peter so that these problems can be solved.
Developing helpful and attainable goals
According to the assessment, goals will be set by the coordination of peter. A hierarchy
of list will be made by the peter in which it will be asked what kind of problems he wanted to

resolve first. After that short and long term goals will be set so that he could be able to do his
tasks in a row. According to the goals, client have to take treatment. For treatment talking
therapy is one of the best therapy that can be used for such psychosocial problems. This is the
least invasive treatment in which psychoeducation, stress reduction and cognitive behavior
theraputic techniques are used (Glen & Gabbard, 2013).
