BIBLICAL COUNSELING 1
Biblical Counseling
Through this paper, the case study #5 will be reviewed by applying the biblical
counselling approach. Further, all the key elements related to this approach will be discovered by
applying this model approach to the given case study where it was seen that JoAnn who was
suggested by her youth minister to go for counselling for renewing her faiths and for coming
down to a final decision regarding her boyfriend matters. Conversely, the Biblical counselling is
that approach of counselling which uses Bible for addressing life issues of the individuals,
couples and the families, the Bible teaches that one’s selfless heart is responsible for its own
thoughts, motives, attitudes, words and actions. Thus, Bible is used for addressing wisdom and
approaches while counselling which is practical and really effective in nature. It not only
simplifies the spiritual and religious problems rather it deals with all types of problems (Lim &
Chuah , 2019).
The key elements of this approach are used for reviewing this case where there was lot of
drama going on in the life of JoAnn who really needed somebody’s aid for resolving the entire
mess around. Hence, upon the suggestion of her minister unwillingly she went to the counsellors
whose basic aim was to help others for developing their lives and achieve that end which can
guide them towards truth and correct ways of thinking and doing things. This approach gives
equal importance to the laws made by the local churches while dealing with the hearts of the
people (Pembroke, 2016).
This counselling pattern has helped the client in completely changing her motive,
behavior, and attitude towards her lifestyles and has answered all the questions raised in mind
regarding God and spirituality (Greggo & Sisemore, 2012).

Areas of agreement by these counsellors are first they are constructive in nature, which
means that they would always agree with the things connected with the nature and not the
theoretical ones. Second is not to hurt feelings of the people who are in need of help. In the third
place they agree to the views of the psychologists as they observe the situations very keenly and
judges it in a reliable manner, in the fourth one is that the secular psychologists may also get the
things wrong etc. (Kwan, 2016).
This technique has helped the client for overcoming her disputes and difficulties, which
she was facing in her life. As JoAnn had revealed her experiences and happening very correctly,
without any bits of lies in it to the counsellor that helped him to observe the things and take
notice of the facts very closely and finally come to a conclusion and deliver its judgment
regarding the steps which are to be taken and which ones are to be avoided (Youssef, 2016).
Thus this strategy of observing the matters keenly and delivering the judgments without being
judgmental or practicing biasness is a very unique idea that is adopted by the biblical counselling
which has proved as the best model in resolving the upheld problems in the life of the Client by
helping her to know about the ways of overcoming the problems. Therefore, this counselling
uses the words of the God, which has the Holy Spirit to change the motives, thinking, and
behavior of the people towards their life.
