Introduction
In recent times there is greater emphasis being set on the right to education for every
individual which contrasts to harm caused by having an uneducated person to society. However,
there are several barriers to effective learnings under which physical, as well as mental state of
mind, is being affected. For the provided report document which is a report, findings will be
presented concerning analysing two of the case study. The case studies of Jessica who is a child
and Zac who is an adolescent are being highlighted (Buckle, 2021). Within the essay, critical
analysis will be made concerning presenting potential issues in each case study, identification of
possible contributing factors, presentation of ethical issues and risks with their management and
relevant goals for managing the case and deriving suitable interventions to contrast on the
highlighted situation.

Analysis Jessica Case study
Jessica is a six years old female child who came with her mother as she was suffering
from various issues such as she was struggling to sleep which has impacted her overall behaviour
and even at the school too that is why she came to see the Counsellor. Counselling session has
been taken into consideration by her mother as these issues faced by Jessica are resulting in
being some sort of mental trauma to her. For instance, experiences of conflicts and quarrels
between parents often result negatively especially towards their children. In addition to that,
these circumstances emerged in the development of a negative atmosphere in Jessica's house as
well as resulted in being the major reason for her mental trauma. Being a child, all these health
issues could be a serious threat in upcoming future circumstances in her development. As her
father denied permission for her therapy, her mother has considered taking her to therapy
sessions without her father's notice. Therefore, after receiving complaints from school, Jessica's
mother has been more aware and careful towards her physical as well as mental health issues
(Ravenscroft, 2018).

As the child grows older they have a load of studies, new responsibilities and various
levels of stress. As per the given case, the main reason for Jessica is her father that also affected

her sleep schedule that lead to a poor level of concentration and lack of attention with a high-
stress level. This situation can impact the mental situation of any child and their health behaviour
can be changed into aggressive behaviour. This report particularly highlights the main symptoms
of adult interaction and function. It can be said that all the children who face traumas in their
childhood may feel neglected due to their parent's negligence (Langford, 2018).
Ethical considerations when counselling children
Confidentiality: Keeping the information and details confidential must be the major
ethical consideration to take into account in counselling practices. For instance, relating
to providing a case study which is of Jessica, it includes keeping the information private
and ensuring the privacy of information and knowledge of children going through
counselling sessions and therapy. Moreover, it also includes sharing of information and
knowledge to their parents as well as other parties involved appropriately. The
documentation of the counselling process is also included in privacy and confidential
terms, which determines whoever has the right to access these documents. Furthermore,
the information and knowledge accumulated in a counselling process must be free of any
judgements and perceptions.
Involving family members: Involvement of family members or members is majorly
considered in counselling practices of a child. For instance, in the provided case study,
this aspect is taken into account for carrying out counselling sessions and therapy to
acknowledge parents or guardians of possible considerations that may emerge. It has
been observed in most cases that the counselling process has faced various challenges

important in facilitating quality counselling therapy sessions. Therefore, this
consideration of counsellors leads to a determination of suitable and comfortable
solutions to problems faced by the child.

To carry out counselling practices in an efficient manner, there are some defined goals
and responsibilities of counsellors. For instance, these goals define the purpose and aim of
representatives engaged in providing counselling therapy to the client for betterment and
enhancement (Pang et al., 2020). These counsellor goals reflected in the case study of Jessica are
as follows;
Facilitating behaviour change: It has been observed in the case study of Jessica that the
primary and foremost issue discussed in counselling sessions has been the behavioural
approach of the client. For instance, representatives engaged in counselling sessions are
determined at facilitating appropriate support and solution to their clients to enhance
behaviour change.
Improvisation of client’s ability to enhance relationships: Another major goal of the
counsellor highlighted in the case study of Jessica is to provide the client with a suitable
and appropriate approach to maintaining and enhancing relationships with people.
Moreover, maintaining healthy relationships with people in society is an essential
requirement of an individual to acquire social recognition and values (McCaw, 2020).
Development of personnel: Referring to the above case study of Jessica, this goal of the
counsellor lies in the overall development of the child going through counselling sessions
or therapy. Furthermore, it includes the contribution of guidance and advice to the client
to facilitate the personal development of the client with consideration of various factors
and advice.

Analysis Zac case study
The person Zac being highlighted in the case study presents the scenario of an individual
who is bullied not just verbally but also physically. He tends to get anxious when going to school
and once he reaches the school he gets really angry as a result of getting bullied by not only his
mates but sometimes also teachers. Zac is a fourteen years old male who feels anxious to go to
school and from the beginning, he never really liked to go to school. After communicating with
Zac, it has been identified that facing these issues has resulted in increasing level of anxiety.

In the duration of learning phase, Zac has been observed underperforming in various
subjects as well as he did not like to listen to music. Moreover, Zac has been suspended from
school and also detention in high school. He felt safer while playing games but his parents are
concerned about his attention towards games and whenever he comes home he goes straight to
his room and plays computer games. He is a part of the online internet community in which the
users interact with each other with the help of characters they take on in the game (Ceder, 2018).
said he feel relaxed and be himself while playing and everyone in the game like him, found him
funny, clever and nobody consider him a loser. During the game, he helps the other players if
they face any problem such as whenever there is a glitch in the game or on someone’s computer
or can be an issue of internet service he helps them out. Research further elaborates the various
counselling skills which are required to deal with children regarding various problems so that a
safe environment can be presented for the individuals.
The ethical issues
Referring to the above case study, it could be determined that Zac has been facing several
issues and challenges in going to school. For instance, the unethical practices of bullying have
been experienced by him enormous times which made him reserved and anxious. These practices
of unethical behaviour towards him have often resulted in conflict or fights with fellow mates
initiating this unethical behaviour. As a consequence of these conflicts and fights, he has been
suspended many times which he found suitable and comfortable as he was not supposed to go to
school in this suspension period. Moreover, this unethical behaviour of students sometimes leads
to serious mental trauma for the student facing the same. Furthermore, Zac started being
comfortable in spending time over virtual gaming platforms which facilitated interaction with
people through their gaming characters. The parents of Zac were concerned about these issues as
he had started spending his time alone rather than interacting with his actual friends and mates.
Therefore, these issues and challenges faced by Zac became the reason for his degrading self-
confidence as well as emotional imbalance (Maher, 2020). In order to overcome these ethical
issues, counselling session and therapy is recommended.
Goals of Counsellor
Referring to the above case study of Zac, it could be determined that he has experienced
and faced unethical practices of bullying due to his shy behaviour. Through this scenario, it was
being considered that Zac preferred to stay at home and avoid going to school. The primary and

foremost goal of counsellor relating to above case lies in facilitating a comfortable environment
to Zac in order to proceed the process of counselling (Yoon and Templeton 2019). Inclusive of
personal career goals will deliver better initiatives in regards to approaching for better career
goals of Zac. This will develop effective understandings of social life culture and will support the
effective growth of an individual when being engaged in complex life tasks.
During the process, communication will be formed as an effective measure for which the
shy nature of Zac can be brought to light. This will guide a better course of action in respect to
providing Zac with better opportunities regarding the completion of life career goals. Within the
approach, representative engaged in counselling will facilitate in completion of client’s desired
goals. It will engage effective understandings of social life and will deliver a confident approach
in respect to pursuing long terms goals and objectives. This will form part of creative strategies
adopted by an individual when being engaged in the contemporary market environment.
Inclusive of the approach effective measures to provide counselling can be taken when being
engaged with other individuals within the working environment (Hardham, 2018).
Conclusion
From the analysis of the provided report document, it can be concluded that through
analysis of both the case studies various understandings can be built concerning exploring social
life aspects of both individuals. In the provided report document discussions were being made in
respect to deliver better understandings of the learning experience that is gained through analysis
of the case study. Being stated in the case study, several ethical and social aspects were being
presented for which their analysis delivered a better understanding of social life aspects within
the society.
