Case Study
AI Summary
This case study examines the public health challenges arising from a severe flood in Oldport, a coastal town reliant on coal mining. The study identifies physical, emotional, and infectious disease problems resulting from the disaster, including serious fractures and potential amputations. It proposes a month-long strategy for identifying and addressing these health issues, emphasizing data collection, research, group discussions, and remedial steps. Recommendations for key stakeholders, such as training sessions, concert events, and amplified communication, are suggested to ensure commitment and adoption of effective measures to mitigate the public health crisis. This document is available on Desklib, a platform that offers a range of study tools, including past papers and solved assignments, to support students.

Leadership in health care 6
Make a strategy: The leaders will have to build a team and need to create a list of roles and
responsibilities. After then roles will be assigned after considering the ability as it will help in
using the first month’s phase to identify and analyze the actual public health problems and issues
that exist. Then, they need to make a plan. In this plan will include all the health problems and
diseases. Vision and mission statement would be developed. All things will be managed
according to the time and budget. Additionally, strong and unique strategy will help in making
first month plan to eliminate the public health problems (Ghaffarzadegan et al, 2011).
Identify Disease: In this stage, the diseases and illness need to be identified and analyzed. In this
process, kind and type of diseases and illness are analyzed and determined. It will be beneficial
to eradicate the public health issues and diseases.
Research and collect data: There is need to research regarding the disease and then will find out
the actual condition of health issues. Collection of facts, analyze pervious and present scenario
are needed to evaluate and identify the issues related to public health in first month. It is worth
noted that data and facts will be collected from the hospitals, surveys, past history and
observation to minimize and eliminate the health diseases. It is analyzed from the various studies
that research is important to provide information about the disease, risk factors, treatment, care
and care cost. This research can be helped to improve services and treatment not only for present
as well as future also. The data will be collected after analyzing and measuring the data. It will
also be beneficial for the future (Bryson, 2018). In one month phase, the leaders can check
whether a drug is safe or the side effects it causes. In next phase, the professionals aim to test and
evaluate whether a new treatment is better than existing treatments. It will help in measuring the
tremendous public health issues in a unique way.

Share ideas and discuss in group: All the team members need to gather and share ideas, point
of view and observations regarding the health issues. Every person will present own ideas and

Remedial steps/ Solutions: The professionals need to create some graphs and charts of disease
and device to make people understandable easily. They will tell about the disease to people and
will also explain the issues that occur. The environment would keep safe and clean to analyze the
health diseases and issues. Also, it will help in stopping infections. Free health check will be
organized. The every person should aware for the monitoring health status (Brownson et al,
2017) .
Feedback: The team will create a feedback form to collect the views of patients. If some health
issues and diseases arise in present or future this shall be listed in their record so they can take

Stakeholders play a major role in each and every organization whether it is public and private
sectors. In recent few years, stakeholders committee becomes better and unique as compared to
earlier. The stakeholders in health care system include insurance companies, government,
employers and suffered patients. The stakeholder engagement is essential to determine long term
progress and success internationally. The stakeholders should perform tasks and duties in a
hassle free manner (Cresswell and Sheikh, 2013). Moreover, flooding insurance should be done
by the stakeholders of the organization. The leaders and employee should lead initiatives and
activities effectively to make happy the suffered people. NGO should be built and developed on
the behalf of the company. Herby, it will help to the people as well other person to minimize
health issues. It is further stated from the various studies that stakeholder should give advice to
director related to flood areas. The partnerships within the context of health promotion must
focus on health outputs in an efficient manner to minimize and detect health issues. The nurses
and other employees should maintain amicable relationship with diagnosed or suffered people to
make pleasant and cheer the patients. Besides this, the government can conduct various social
awareness programs to protect the rights and life of suffered patients globally (Ioannou and
Serafeim, 2015). The stakeholders also play a major and empirical role in the flood risk
management. The finding and timing the suitable people in the governmental agencies turn out to
be significant elements for creating support for local stakeholder initiatives in flood risk
management. In addition, the stakeholders should promote CSR and sustainability practices and
initiatives to measure and determine the issues.
Problems that are anticipated in carrying out the task effectively
There are several problems faced while carrying out the tasks and duties effectively. In the given
case study, a task has been assigned to design and create a two year programme which is a

significant part of a longer term development packing using Europan commission, Welsh
assembly government and UK government relief money. The first crucial and serious issue that a
project or task leader in health care may face does not know what exactly to predict from the
task. If the objectives and goals are not clearly explained, the task is ruined to fail. If no one is
aware of the whats, whens and whys of the task, what would follow is ample of chaos and
confusion. Without effective and defined goals and objectives, the task cannot be completed
successfully. Budget is one of the biggest issues in implementing the tasks successfully. Budget
is an important factor for completing the task in a hassle free manner. It will also help in business
planning and evaluating the new opportunities (Fransen et al, 2011). Due to inadequate budget,
the people are unable to address the well being and health problems and issues caused by the
flooding. Furthermore, one of the crucial issues that faced while exercising tasks successful is
time period or deadline (Cresswell et al, 2013). The leaders struggle with the unexpected
demands and needs of the clients and stakeholders. Most of the task timelines do ultimately slip
due to the unexpected and unrealistic initial deadlines or time. Lack of communication is another
issue that is entertained while initiating the task carefully and successfully. Due to this issue, the
people are unable to collect data and statistical analysis. Furthermore, the leaders cannot manage
the first one month preparation to analyze and produce the needed report without effective
communication and collaboration. Moreover, team members are allocated duties and task on
their availability, not for their expertise and talents for many projects. If the employees are not
trained and qualified enough to meet the challenges and issues assigned tasks, it can put the
enhancement and development of the project in a risky spot. Risk management is also a major
issue that leaders will have to deal with (Schiff, 2015). These risks and challenges can be
indecision in the financial market, hidden flaws in the task and unknown components that can

impact the progress and success of a task (Schelfaut et al, 2011). Additionally, a team comprises
multiple team members, each having various personalities, handling and catering to their needs
and requirements that can be a intimidating tasks and duties at times. With so many team
members working on a specific task or project together, there can be disagreements and gaps in a
team that can have adverse effects on the working environment and task. Incongruities and
obstacles amongst team members is repeatedly an issue for a leader to handle with. All these
challenges and hurdles are anticipated in carrying out the tasks successfully and efficiently
(Proofhub, 2019). It will further help in resolving and handling various threats and challenges
related to health.
Conclusion
It is concluded from the above discussed analysis that public health problems and issues are
identified and estimated in the task largely which are being occurred due to flood. Moreover, it is
noted that there are several ways to use the first month phase for identifying the actual public
health issues and challenges that exist or might emerge. Furthermore, it is evaluated from the
case study that stakeholders play a major role in detecting and preventing the public health issues
and obstacles. Various recommendations also are given to minimize flood issues by the
tremendous stakeholders. There are various issues faced or entertained in implementing the task
carefully and adequately.
