INTRODUCTION
The given study would be conducted to provide evidence and discussion on the disadvantages
and advantages of having childcare facilities in a licensed club with gambling facilities in
countries like Singapore and Australia. The gambling is a legal entity in such countries which act
as a source of revenue for their economy. However, it had a severe impact on the family life
which prompts the respective government to provide some facilities to take care of the children
while they are engaged in gambling activities (Hayer, et al. 2018). Various such programs exist
in Australia and Singapore and have been initiated into their casinos so as to provide good
caring facilities to the children in an effective manner.

GAMBLING CLUBS WORLDWIDE PROVIDING CHILD CARE FACILITIES
As per the studies of Vuk (2014), there has been the advent of gambling worldwide and this has
resulted in gamblers remaining cut-off from their families for a longer duration. This has
prompted various licensed clubs across countries such as Australia and Singapore to offer a
credible solution to solve the childcare crisis by starting their own childcare facilities. There has
been a tremendous increase in the utilization of childcare facilities in Australia to almost 90,000
in the last one year and the most beneficial one were the licensed casino clubs. The reason
behind this instant success as founded by (Bunn, et al. 2018) has been their sizeable facilities,
capital expenditure programs and enhanced footprint in new areas which have helped them to
fill the service gaps where there is high need of the given demand.
CHILDCARE FACILITIES IN LICENSED GAMBLING CLUBS OF AUSTRALIA AND SINGAPORE
Gainsbury, et al. (2019) have revealed in their studies that various managers of the licensed
club holders in Australia have invested $100 million in ClubGrants which is also funded by them
so as to build childcare centres within the premises of the club buildings. These facilities would
work as per the Gambling Act, 2001 and would include covered windows to avoid direct
observation with natural light filtering through it, provision of staff to take care of children,
safety procedures and equipment to protect the children from any harm and so on. The same

resulted in a surge in the arrival of a large number of people for gambling. Various casinos in
Singapore provide these services not only to their customers but also to their employees.
Facilities which are provided by these licensed casino clubs are arts and crafts activities and
online video games so as to entertain the kids in most suitable manner.
Furthermore, Oei, et al. (2019) have revealed that there are various casinos with gambling
facilities which enables the parents to provide them with the name and age of their children so
as to get the reservation in an easy manner. In addition to this, there are various volunteers
who would be provided by the clubs who would conduct babysitting and would carry out all the
daily activities so as to keep the children in a sound manner and without any harm. Besides,
some casino clubs have additional gym facilities such as jungle gym which has been designed on
the pattern of the jungle and have ladders so as to keep the children indulge in the given
activities in an enthusiastic manner as disclosed by Chan, et al. (2018).
ADVANTAGES OF HAVING CHILD CARE FACILITIES IN LICENSE GAMBLING CLUBS
According to the studies of MacLean, et al. (2019), there are various advantages of having child
care facilities in the licensed club with gambling activities. With the facilities of the casino, the
clubs also provide the privilege to the parents to arrive with their children and get them
admitted to the child care services. With the help of the casino clubs, the parents would be able
to spend some of their hours alone and playing gamble in an effective manner. In addition to
this, the parents are also assured that their children are not away from them are in good hands
which allow them to indulge in gambling to a higher extent. Besides, it also saves the time of
the parents as they do not require travelling for picking and dropping their children.
These services have reasonable costs that help in saving money and time. (Bul, et al. 2016) have
also discussed the quality of the services provided by the service provider in the clubs and
found to be an excellent one as they were able to satisfy the needs and requirements of the

children in an appropriate manner. Furthermore, it would also help the mental and physical
development of the children as they would remain to indulge in various activities and would
also be able to cooperate with other children in a social manner. Due to the provision of the
excellent staff, the casinos would also be able to provide good and trained staff so as to train
the children in activities such as first aid measures which are taught to them effectively. In
addition to this, they would also get indulge in various puzzles and mental gams so that it would
allow them to have an overall development of their personality which would be beneficial to
them in their future.
In addition to this, the given childcare service would help the parents to keep a watch on their
children and develop a good bond with them. Moreover, they would be able to evaluate the
services provided by the given licensed club so as to assess the services provided to the children
are satisfactory or not. This would convince them that their children are in safe hands and
would be able to indulge in the game of gambling for a longer duration as stated by Valladares
(2018). In this way, the child care services will boost customer satisfaction by ensuring their
loyalty.
DISADVANTAGES OF HAVING CHILD CARE FACILITIES IN LICENSE GAMBLING CLUBS
From the studies of Fabiansson (2016), there are many disadvantages associated with having
the child care facilities in the licensed club with casino facilities. First is that there has been
evidence found that some child care providers in some of the casino clubs are not performing
their duties well and some of them have also had to pay the fine of up to $50,000 due to their
negligence in providing better facilities to the children. Another drawback is the lack of security
as children are the most vulnerable group. Besides, there is a concern among some parents for
not leaving their children in the care of the child care providers as they are not easily trusted.
Besides, there have also been changes in the behaviour of the children as they have become
violent due to staying away from their parents for longer duration which has affected their
mentality and made them more irritating. Also, the report provided by Chan, et al. (2018) has
also found that some grown-up kids have also attacked the care service providers with their
nails and have destroyed the furniture due to their bad temper.

Another study conducted by Vuk (2014) agrees with Rintoul and Deblaquiere (2019) and have
found that some casino clubs do not maintain hygiene in their premises which would result in
spreading of germs and thus making the children ill. Besides, it would be possible that the
children might come in the contact of gambling and develop some bad habits which might
affect their behaviour and personality to a higher extent. Bestman, et al. (2018) have identified
in their studies another drawback which indicates that the children whose parents indulge in
gambling would also mimic their actions and behaviours and would make them learn the new
and negative things from the gambling which would raise a case of concern among the parents.
Another disadvantage as identified by Rintoul and Deblaquiere (2019) states that the parents
would be unable to spend quality time with their children and instead would waste on
gambling. This would have a severe psychological impact on the children as they would be
unable to cherish that beloved moment which they would, in turn, spend with care service
providers in the casino clubs. Thus the given time which the parents and children have spent
away from each other would also create a rift in their relations which would be visible in near
future and would severely affect the upbringing of the children. Therefore, this facility would
only boost up the revenue for the given licensed club but would tear apart the good and
healthy relationship between the parents and children in a brutal manner.
CRITICAL EVALUATION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
So by going through various researchers with their studies, it has been found that the given
concept of child care facilities which have been implemented by the licensed casino clubs has
been most beneficial to them but have affected the cordial relationship with the parents and
their children. Although the idea of implementing this service has been a noble one, yet the
main motive behind this service as started by the casino clubs to bring more gambling loving
parents to their clubs and earn more revenue. The study also found out that although there has
been the development of the children mentally and physically, yet living away with parents for
a long time with strangers has also resulted in changing of their behaviour and turned them
violent and irritating in nature.

Therefore, there are some of the recommendations provided by the researcher which could be
implemented by the clubs to make this service look more humane. First is that the club should
provide a display screen in the gambling room so that the parents could have a watch on their
children while playing and could detect any suspicious behaviour towards their children by the
staff or service provider in a significant manner. Secondly, they should maintain proper hygiene
in the children room so as to prevent the transmission of infection among the children and they
would remain fit and healthy. Thirdly, they should provide genuine information about the care
facilities to the people who have arrived with their family for gambling. This would make them
sure that their children are in safe hands and should not have to worry much about their future
Fabiansson (2016).
Thus, if these recommendations are implemented by the clubs, it would be beneficial for them
otherwise; they have to cease to withdraw this service for the benefit of the parents-children
relationship.

CONCLUSION
From the given essay, it could be concluded that there are various advantages and
disadvantages of the provision of child care services by licensed clubs with gambling facilities.
The most important advantage is that it helps in enhancing the revenue of the club as well as
that of the nation. The major disadvantage is that it affects the cordial relationship between the
parents and children to a higher extent. Thus it could be said that if the recommendations
provided by the researcher is properly implemented, the club would be able to make this
service best in the world.
