Root definition report of Nokia using CATWOE
The Nokia company which have come to extinction since the last few years as the
current lack of interest in their product. The IOS based iPhone and Android have replaced
the Nokia which has windows series. The use of CATWOE analysis assesses the problem.
With the help of this method, all the stakeholders of the organisation are analysed. With the
help of CATWOE analysis the issue of with Nokia is analysed (Aithal, 2017). The CATWOE
acronym stands C-Clients, A-Actors, T-Transformation, W-Worldview, O-Owner, E-
Environmental constraints. The technique will evaluate the problems that arise in the business
and thinking critically the necessary steps that can be taken.
Clients:- These are analysed to look after the customers who will stop receiving the service
provided by the business. An important role is played by customer insight in service
development. The other companies which are the competitors of Nokia such as Motorola,
Intel and much more use anthropologist to learn about their potential customers that are
lacked. The need for technological change is the need and the company need to research to
understand the need of the customers. The operating system of Nokia is still based on
Symbian until the end of the year 2014. When the company introduced Lumia which is
Windows 10 based mobile phone due to lack of supporting of some application like Snapchat
the customers preferred the android and IOS (Wang, Liu, & Mingers, 2015).
Actors:- There are many employees in the company who are employed to implement the
strategies that are undertaken by the organisation. There is a need for a change in the business
strategies of Nokia. There is an attitude of arrogance among the managers and executive of
Nokia which result in the unsuccessful implementation of the business strategies of Nokia.
The top-level executives are not meeting the need of the external environment. They are not
trying to develop technologies that can compete with iOS. They fear to lose their customers,

suppliers or shareholders. The engineers of the organisation cannot meet the need for
technology and fail to reach the goals. To meet the demand for the short term market, the
company focuses on developing new phones rather than improving the existing operating
system (Mahalepa & Goede, 2018).
Transformation:- There is a need for analysing the changes that are needed to introduced in
the business. The process that is undertaken to transforming the inputs into the outputs is
required to be evaluated. The company need to change the old mindset and analysing
customer behaviour and demand to give a competition to its competitors in the market
(Alibage & Weber, 2018).
Worldview:- The world view of the business problem is analysed. The technology that is
used by the operating system used by the company is not fit, and the growing demand of the
android and the iPhones due to the platform used by it have reduced the use of Nokia in no
small scale (Zhang & Juhlin, 2016).
Owner:-Analyse the need of the shareholders and the owner by looking at the shareholders
including the customer's id needed. These will help the company to enhance its growth and
gaining its position in the market. The owners of the company failed to create an environment
where problems can be detected and analysed (Aggrawal et al., 2016).
Environmental constraints:- The company fails to understand the ecological factors that
affect the business. The company fails to meet the need of the stakeholders and the
shareholders. It cannot analyses the external environment and understanding the need for
replacing the existing technology. The lack of customers have changed, and it needs to
change the infrastructure of the product and the services provided by them.

Recommended solution
The top managers and the executives of the Nokia know that the existing platform of Nokia
is outmatched and it needs to match the need of its customers. The customers are driven
towards the Android and the iPhones. The senior management of Nokia could have overcome
their fears and face the challenges offered by Apple and Android. Nokia needs to develop its
internal conditions and emphasise there product according to the need and demands of the
consumers. It needs to achieve the short term profit and the long terms goals against their
competitors. There is a need for creating a healthy environment where the top level managers
and the employees could share the problems that are arising and evaluation on the same can
be done. By analysing the bad news over the good news will help Nokia to understand the
need and perception of the consumers. There is a need for maintaining a culture that will
incorporate honesty and cooperation within the organisation. There is a need for
understanding the strength of the company over the competitors. These can be done by
employing middle managers who will analyse the power of the organisation and will compile
it with the need of the customers to increase its business (Vuori & Huy, 2016). The company
have to analyse the potential demand of the customers and build up their organisational
strategies according to the same. The company need to provide a platform for growth and
provide its customers with a computing experience. The company have always offered high
quality hardware, and now it needs to focus on improving the hardware parts. Nokia has to
adopt strategies that will challenge the existing facilities provided by the competitors. Nokia
has to bring the latest version of Windows by eliminating the existing windows platform.
Nokia can focus on improving the gaming experience of the customers that will help it to
increase the business (Chau, 2016). The company need to modify the existing structure and
rebuild the products offered by it so that it can meet the need of the customers and impress
the potential customers around the world.
