INSTALLATION OF CCTV IN THE STREET
The residents of Queen Street are hereby informed that the government has taken the initiative to
install a CCTV system at various parts of the streets amidst the increasing reports of street crime.
The initiative has been taken to address the situation which is becoming a bottle in the neck of
the local residents. The CCTV installation process is to start from 10th March 2018. The
corporation of all local residents is therefore requested. The residents would be provided with
adequate knowledge of how the CCTV system is going to function and what are its benefits to
the locality. The residents are would also be provided about the fact that how the government
would ensure the right to privacy of the individuals.
HOW DOES CCTV WORK
To make it simple CCTV is a video recording system.
The system can only be used by particular users which mean that the video is not
broadcasted to everyone and is only recorded and viewed at a particular screen.
The CCTV records the signal in a scrambled form which are then transferred to the
system where they are unscrambled (Gill, Rose and Collins 2015).
WHAT ARE THE MAJOR FUNCTIONS OF CCTV
The primary function of CCTV is that of Surveillance.
They are operation 24*7 and have the capacity of recording anything which is within
their range in form of a Video
The video can be viewed at the same time or in the future by the person who has access
to the system. This feature of the CCTV would ensure that any relevant information is not
transferred in wrong hands.

CRIMINOLOGY
CCTV is a primary alternative of reducing human security and works effectively to
reduce crime and unwanted activities in an area. This is because the wrongdoers have
knowledge that they are being seen by someone and this is why they restrain from any
wrongful activity.
CCTV in the area can also help to monitor the behavior of those who are planning to
indulge in a wrongful act and helps to collect evidence of any activity which have taken
place within its range for future reference (Song 2017)
ADVANTAGES OF HAVING CCTV
One of the primary advantages of installing a CCTV system is that it is a significant way
of ensuring public safety
In a palace where CCTV cameras have been installed people have an enhanced sense of
security as compared to those areas which do not have CCTV.
Criminal and unwanted activities are vastly reduced by the installation of CCTV in
streets (Kama et al. 2015)
RIGHTS OF THE RESIDENTS
While installing the CCTV system the governments will provide utmost importance to
the right to privacy of the residents
CCTV cameras will not be installed in any place where the right to privacy of a resident
may be compromised
The right to access to the CCTV system will be very limited and will be in the hands of
the local authority in order to ensure that the system is not misused (Westin and
Ruebhausen 2015)
