In the recent times, the means of communicating with the audience has become much
easier thanks to the development of the cell phones in the world. In today’s world cell
phones, have become a necessity for the students and the people rather than just a fancy item.
Cell phones can be used to communicate about the various things with the family members as
well as the friends of the individuals themselves. However, there are claims that the cell
phones should not be allowed in the schools and the class rooms because the students get
diverted. However, if thought deeply, cell phones should be allowed in the class room itself,
as it serves a number if useful purpose for the students.
The purpose of this essay is to describe why the cell phones should be allowed in
the classrooms in schools and colleges.
The reason why cell phones should be allowed in the classroom is because of a
number of reasons itself. First, the cell phones are an inevitable means of communication for
the students themselves. Therefore, the students can call up their friends to inquire why they
are coming late to the school. In addition to this, they can also call up their family members
to inform that they will be late due to detentions or for projects and assignments. Secondly, in
case there is an emergency like the school building catching fire, then the students can call on
the police or the fire department for their help (Pettijohn:515).
Moreover, the cell phones also make a useful reminder tool for the students. This is
because the phone will remind them about their homework and the routine for the next day in
the school (Thomas:375). The Cell Phones also have good internet connections in them
which will make it easier for the students to search for any information instantly. This method
will make it easier for the students to complete their homework without having to rely on the
weak Internet connections of the people themselves.

However, there are others who claim that the cell phones should not be allowed in the
classes at all. This is because of the fact that the students will waste their time by playing
games r indulging in sited which are not appropriate for them. This ca be a problem for the
students because of the fact that the inappropriate or violent might make them addicted to
such things which will hinder their development (West:6).
Thus, despite the opposition claims, it can be stated that the cell phones are an
important necessity in the lives of the students. This is because the cell phones serve as an
important means of communication for the students themselves. It is because of the cell
phones that the students are able to communicate, read as well as browse for the information
regarding their subjects in the classroom. Hence these benefits make the cell phone a
necessity in the student’s life and should be allowed in the classroom itself.
