INTEGRATED LOGISTICS
Question No 1
Multiple selling channels (retail stores, commercial customers and online) have created
challenges with forecast accuracy and thus inventories in each channel. What formal
inventory system should TFT consider to mitigate back orders?
Answer to Question No 1:
A number of steps can be taken up by the management of TFT to mitigate the
different backorders that are being developed from each of the different selling channels of
the organization. The steps includes;
a. Getting the real time data on the stock levels- The avoidance of the backorder
situations can be done through the collection of all the different real time data. The
real time data can be collected from the inventory systems of the warehouse as well as
through real time alert system.
b. The presence of a real time data on item velocity- A velocity in getting the real time
data can avoid any kind of serious issues in the situation of the crisis (Taleizadeh
Tavakoli and San-José 2018). The faster the real time data is available, the better the
actions that can be taken on backorder crisis.
c. Keeping the order channel updated- Keeping the order channel updated can help fight
any situations in backorder crisis. The updates on the order items, the remaining stock
and other different information can help mitigate the issue in a proper manner.
