CHCPRT001 - Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
Part 1: LEARNER
1.
There have been certain instances where it was identified that children or young people
who had been or were at the risk of being abused or or neglected. For instance, one of the
scenarios was that the child was dealing with certain physical problems that were untreated.
These included sores etc. along with a poor standard of hygiene (Baker and Liu, 2021). The child
was dealing with issues such as a poor hair texture and seemed to be malnourished. Apart from
this, another instance of the case that was identified was that the child has poor development of
health as well as family issues. This ensured that the child was either being neglected at their
respective homes. Lastly, there was one of the other instances where the child had a poor weight
for their age and that they seemed to be malnourished.

As a response to these issues, there were certain actions that were taken such as these
issues were reported to the concerned authorities and it was made sure that the confidentiality of
the children was maintained and that appropriate child protection procedures were followed. This
ensured that the issues were resolved in an effective manner and that the children were provided
with appropriate care.

In order to communicate with the children and young people who had been abused or
neglected, there were various strategies that were used. For instance, one of the strategies that
were used was that different types of communication methods were used to ensure that they had
clarity about care that they would receive (Berry, Londoño Tobón and Njoroge, 2021). Apart
from this, it was ensured that appropriate counselling was provided to the children as well as
their parents. This is because it ensured that they were able to understand the issues in an
effective manner and ensure that these were resolved and that appropriate actions were taken for
the same. This also ensured them about that they were safe and respected. It can be stated that it
is important to make sure this.

Prior to making a risk of harm report, it is important to make sure to consult or report the
issue to a Child Protection helpline. In context to making a risk of harm report for the identified
issues, it was ensured that the report was in line or according to the legislation and the
organization's policies as well as procedures. The primary goal while developing the report was
to make sure that it was completed as soon as possible (Grimmer, 2021). Also, it was ensured
that all the details that were included in the study, were accurate and proper details of the signs
as well as symptoms were present. The tone or the language of the report was ensured to be
understandable as well as without any bias. The report was divided into various sections such as
executive summary, the purpose of the risk assessment, questions to be answered etc. Lastly, the
report was developed in collaboration with the relevant agencies to ensure that the goals as well
as objectives were achieved.

In order to make sure that the practice of the colleagues as well as the environment of the
service were designed in a way that protected the rights of the children and that they were
focussed on the rights and decisions of the child, various strategies were adopted. For example,
it was ensured that all schools as well as homes teach the children about the various protection as
well as safety measures. The colleagues were asked to make sure that they implement
appropriate strategies as well as ideas for the children (Haslip and Donaldson, 2021).
Appropriate legislations as well as rules were taken care of to make sure that the rights as well as
decisions of the children were protected.

Ethical behaviour can be defined as the behaviour wherein the individual is honest about
their communication, both written as well as oral. One of the situation wherein I had to make an
ethical decision regarding if the school was ensuring that the children were not neglected or at
the risk of being abused. I decided that it was out of my level of responsibility and hence, I
requested my supervisor to identify a solution. The supervisor helped me in identifying the
solution and told me to look for any signs or symptoms that could help me identify the issue.
Hence, this was very helpful for me and I was able to identify the issue or concern.

An ethical dilemma can take place in the context of decision-making wherein a person
either violates or compromises on their ethical standards. There can be various examples of an

ethical dilemma and one of the examples that I came across during work was that one of the
employees was taking credit for others' work. In order to address or report this situation, I
ensured that the issue was reported to the supervisor. This is because such a situation can have an
impact on the performance as well as job satisfaction levels of other employees. Therefore, it can
be said that it is important to make sure that appropriate strategies are implemented. This ensures
that the overall performance as well as effectiveness of the company is maintained and that the
goals as well as objectives are achieved in a proper manner (Jones, 2021). Also, it is important to
understand that if any situation of an ethical dilemma arises within the organization, it should be
reported to the supervisor or the manager to make sure that it is resolved in a proper as well as
structured manner. As a result, the overall goals as well as objectives of the organization are also
achieved to a great extent.

To ensure that the practice was welcoming as well as nurturing while still maintaining a
professional boundary with the children and young people in the care was that it was ensured that
the introduction or the orientation was done in a very smooth manner. Also, it was ensured that
no slang words were used and that the children were comfortable. Ethical conduct was followed
and the children were made to feel welcome. They were greeted initially and then introduced
about the care facilities that were available and would be provided to them.

As my duty of care responsibility, I ensured that the children were protected from any
kind of harm. Also, it is my responsibility to ensure that acts that could expose other people are
avoided. One time, I noticed that there was a significantly less amount of food available in the
care facility for the children. Hence, I ensured that the food was made available to the children as
this is considered to be an important aspect of care facilities (Kusnawawati, 2022). I made sure
that appropriate facilities were made available to the children. The children have certain
nutritional requirements and it is important to make sure that these are met because this helps in
ensuring that their overall development takes place in an effective manner.
CHCECE004 – Promote and provide healthy food and drinks

Occasion 1: Food Allergies – There was one of the occasions wherein I had to alter a
meal plan according to the individual needs of a child. This is because the child was suffering
from a food allergy from milk. Thus, in order to ensure that the child received adequate as well
as the required supply of calcium, I altered the child's meal plan and hence included eggs that
were prepared without milk, fresh fruits were included to make sure that the child was eating
healthy. Whole wheat sandwich was another thing that was included in the meal plan.
Occasion 2: Medical Condition – Common cold is one of the most common medical
condition that can occur among children. Thus, during this time, it is important to make sure that
they receive a diet that is rich in various nutrients and that they recover effectively and that there
is an increase in the overall efficiency as well (Madondo, 2021). For a child who was suffering
from common cold, I altered the meal plan in such a way that they received appropriate nutrients
and hence, recovered sooner. After altering the meal plan, the changes that were made, included
an exclusion of any kind of fried or junk food, fruit salad was included and various other foods
that were included were bananas, toast, rice and other such things that are easy to digest. Cereal
was also included in the meal plan so as to make sure that the child recovered faster.
Occasion 3: Cultural or religious requirements – There was another instance wherein
the child was a vegetarian and hence, they did not eat anything else. Thus, I was concerned about
this and hence, made sure that any kind of animal food such as meat, eggs or fish were excluded
from their meal plan (Maharaj, 2021). I ensured that the child only received a fully vegetarian
meal but to also make sure that they received appropriate nutrients in the required amounts, I
included, milk, cheese, yogurt, fresh fruits, cereal as well as rice in their meal plan. This ensured
that the child received the required nutrients in an effective manner and that they were eating a
healthy diet.

In order to role model healthy eating habits among children, I ensured that I had all my
meals at regular times. Also, I ensured that my meals included a balanced of all the healthy foods
as well as snacks. As a role model, I tried to involve the children as well which helped them in
learning about the healthy eating habits. The food choices that I made included fresh fruits,
vegetables, cereals, milk products such as cheese, milk etc. were included in the meal. In order to
encourage the children to make their own healthy eating choices, the parents were also informed
about the cooking healthy meals at home as well as making healthy snacks available to the

children. Apart from this, the children were given choices of different food items so that they
develop knowledge about the foods that are healthy and the ones that are not.

The three different meals that were prepared for children included breakfast, lunch as
well as snack. These included French Toast and a banana, vegetable sandwich with fresh fruits as
well as yogurt and a salad. On the other hand, the drinks included fruit juice and strawberry
smoothie. There were different food safety procedures that were followed during the preparation
of the foods. For instance, before the preparation, I washed my hands properly and cleaned the
cooking tools as well as the counters properly (Nikolova and Nikolaev, 2021). Apart from this, I
ensured that the meals were served hot and the food items that were not in use, were kept in the
refrigerator straight away. Also, the food items that were not in use were kept in airtight and
suitable containers. There were different food storage procedures that were followed such as the
dates were checked and special care was taken for high risk foods. The disposal of foods is also
equally important as their storage and in the respective scenario, it was ensured that the food
scraps were removed from the kitchen daily and that regular collection of the garbage was done.
It is important to make sure that all the various hygienic practices were followed. The garbage
containers were not allowed to be overflow and hence, these were the different disposal
procedures that were followed.

To ensure that the children enjoyed at least one of their meals, one of the strategies that
were followed was that child friendly furniture was used. Apart from this, it can be stated that
there are various utensils that are designed especially for children and hence, offer flexibility and
allow to the children to, enjoy their respective meals in an effective as well as easy manner
(Palaiologou, 2021). Other furniture that is child friendly that can be used includes multi child
daycare strollers. It should be ensured that the furniture that is being used is sturdy and not
slippery. One of the routines that was undertaken to promote a relaxed as well as an enjoyable
mealtime was that a separate space was create for the meals. The space was designed in such a
manner that it promoted an enjoyable meal time. Also, a mealtime routine was set up which
means that the meals has a specified time. In order to promote healthy eating among children,
they were taken to a farm where they were showed how different food items such as vegetables
as well as fruits were grown. Various conversations about healthy eating were conducted to

make sure that they were aware of the right foods. Apart from this, the children were spoken to
about the portion sizes that they should eat and the right foods were also explained to them to
promote a better understanding about healthy eating.

While teaching the children about team work, they were involved in the process of menu
planning. They were taught about the importance of team work and also about how to decide the
different components of each meal. During the process of menu planning, the children were
spoken to about how to do meal planning for a week in advance (Papadakis and et.al., 2021). To
ensure that the food met Australian Dietary Guidelines and Infant Feeding Guidelines, it was
ensured that health and well being was promoted. And also, any kind of diet related issues were
also reduced. Another occasion was when the children were being taught about healthy food
habits. This ensured that they were spoken to about the different ways in which menu planning
can be done.
Children are always eager to help in the kitchen and this can serve as a great opportunity
for the children to learn about meal preparation. One of such occasions was when the children
were being taught about concept cooking. The children were involved in the kitchen where they
were made to participate in a meal preparation activity. This helped them in understanding the
different concepts related to cooking as well as the different ways in which various meals can be
prepared effectively (Sanders-Smith and et.al., 2021). Therefore, it can be stated that this helped
them in enhancing their knowledge about the different safe as well as hygienic practices that
should be followed at all times. This is because the practices were demonstrated to them during
the meal preparation. Thus, it can be said that these are the different occasions when the children
were involved in the preparation of the meals in an effective manner. As a result, the children
were able to learn many new things and also, they will be able to implement the same in a
practical situation effectively.

One of the occasions when food tables were used to identify the nutritional value as well
as nutrition content as well as the ingredients of concern in a food was during the preparation of
the meals along with a particular meal that was prepared for a child with particular food allergy.
It can be said that during these two occasions, it was kept in mind that the food tables were
referred to so that the nutritional value was taken into account in an effective manner.

To make sure that the children had access to water and healthy food throughout the day,
it was made sure that water cooler was made available to the children so that they could help
themselves. Also, healthy snacks were offered to them in between the meals to make sure that
their nutritional intake was adequate. Apart from this, another strategy that was undertaken was
that the children were encouraged to pour their own water from the jug and to bring their own
water bottle as well as lunch box.

in order to ensure that the meals met children's specific dietary requirements and like and
dislikes, they were asked about the foods that they like and also, nutrition tables were also
referred to. The parents and guardians of the children were also asked about their meal wishes as
well as cultural and religious preferences. The parents and guardians were informed about the
meals that were provided to their children at the start of each week. Counselling sessions were
held once in two weeks to provide healthy eating information to the families.

All the care givers were responsible for developing a cycle consisting of written menus
showing the food that was provided to the children. I helped them by contributing during the
process. This ensured that a proper cycle was developed and that the food that was provided to
the children was nutritional. The menus were displayed on the notice board for the reference of
the parents, guardians of the children as well as the staff of the care facility.

taken into account while developing the food safety procedures to ensure that appropriate food
safety procedures were followed. Also, the food safety legislation was taken into account during
this process.
CHCECE009 – Use an approved learning framework to guide practice
1.
The different approved learning frameworks were investigated by taking into account
their application in various practical situations. Also, the employees were asked about the same
to explain the effective implementation of the same.
2.
The framework that I implemented was different from other frameworks because it takes
into account the different aspects that have to be taken care of in order to ensure that children
were able to receive proper guidance. Also, the framework is one of the most important in child
care.

The clarification from the supervisor and other service personnel was obtained through
email (Grimmer, 2021). They provided some useful insights that helped in ensuring that the
implementation of he framework was done in an effective manner.

Children were made to learn about the different things by engaging in various activities.
The relevant outcome was that the children were able to enhance their existing knowledge as
well as implement the same into various situations.

The five principles of Early Years Learning Framework are partnerships, high
expectations and equity, respect for diversity, ongoing learning and reflective practice, secure

and respectful decisions etc. And each of these principles was represented in the service as the
children were taught about that they have to speak with the elders respectfully.

The principles were implemented in such a way that the children were not only able to
experience the different learnings but also that they were able to implement the same into various
practical situations.

Activities were developed to ensure that the different experiences for the children were effective
and that they implemented the same into various practical situations.

The feedback from the supervisor was obtained over the mail to ensure that the feedback
can be implemented into practice (Haslip and Donaldson, 2021). This ensured that the overall
performance as well as implementation of the learning experiences was improved.
CHCECE003 – Provide care for children
Part 1: LEARNER
1.
To manage the children's toileting accidents, they were offered fresh pair of clothing as
well as they were taken to a private area where they could change their clothes. This helped in
protecting their self-esteem as well as privacy. They were communicated to in a polite manner as
well as positive manner. The main reason behind this was to ensure that the children did not feel
uncomfortable and hence were able to communicate with the staff in an effective manner.

While the children were eating and drinking, they were made to watch a presentation
about the good habits that they should inculcate as well as the bad habits that can have a negative
influence on their behaviour. The interaction also involved them to ask as many questions as they
liked and that there was not any confusion.

In order to foster the children's participation, the were encouraged to participate in
different activities as this helped them to enhance their skills ad learn more about the importance
of physical activity.

An improvement was made to the service's code of ethics by improving the way in which
children interact with each other. Positive and healthy language was used.

In order to make the children aware about the importance of physical activity, they were
made a part of the physical routine to make sure that they get into the habit of physical activity
(Kusnawawati, 2022). One of the difficulties that was faced was the some children not wanting
to participate in the physical activity.

The main points that were discussed about how their bodies were that they were involved
in different interactive discussion sessions so that they were able to talk about the importance of
physical activity as well as their impact on the overall well being.

In order to meet the clothing needs, the clothing needs as well as preferences were made
by the overall planning process in an effective manner.

The child was offered a colourful hat of their choice and the sunscreen was applied
saying that it would help them from the sun and its harmful rays.
