E-commerce Authentication
The authentication of e-commerce is about maintaining the confidentiality of the user's
identity those have information on the online platform. The digital certificates provide security to
the transaction a customer makes on the online platforms. At the time of processing any
transaction via the internet, a notification is received by the receiver from the sender assuring its
authentication is known as the digital certificate. Hence, it provides a sense of security
(Chaudhary, Ahmad & Rizvi, 2014). One of the important role played by the certificate
authentication is representing the integrity of the individual or organization. It validates the
identity of cyberspace. The certificate allows the sender to share the data over the internet
securely. It reduces the chances of data-stealing, authentication hampering, allows encrypted
message, allows verification from the recipient, etc.
The need to verify the legitimacy of the certificate authentication is present while
browsing in online websites or at the time of doing any payment transaction through the online
websites due to the security concerns. The inability of the presence of the encryption will redirect
the webpages to unauthorized or virus prone websites. The chance of occurring vulnerability of
the personal as well as payment details increases (Gruschka, Iacono & Sorge, 2014). While
browsing through the website, the information about the users is required by the websites; hence
the security of the personal information was maintained by the website. Hence, the legitimacy of
the certificate is needed to be verified. The organization is also required to maintain the security
layers too.
