Title: Entry 1a- Reflective report on Cesim Simulation Game
1. Introduction
Reflection is involved with examining as well as evaluating thoughts, assumptions as well as
beliefs and also actions. In order to understand reflection, it is required that we have to look for
definitions provided by authors. Easterby-Smith and Cunliffe (2017) defined that reflection is
such an active persistent considerations of belief and supposed to form of knowledge into light
of grounds which support it. Vince and Reynolds (2017) concluded from different perspective
that it is such generic term for effective activities in which the individuals are engaged to explore
of experiences towards new understanding. The reflective report is based on Cesim Project
which is considered as group based initiative for the digitalization of insurance documents. This
report is provided with reflection on PPDI module and the learning contract along with Cesim
simulation project. In this project, we are a team of 4 and had conducted of 4 simulation tasks.
As per the group plan, I managed my tasks and finished the project work on time. We had a
great collaboration among the project team members which helped us to meet with our project
objectives (Taylor, 2017). There were also good interaction among us which helped is to track
movement of our project and individual works. The total completion time of this project is four
months (four simulation rounds). This particular project is being carried out by the project
streams those are interdependent. Each of the project stream are divided into 40 tasks those are
of quality tasks. Quality tasks are not needed to complete the project, but completion of those
project is increased the customer satisfaction.
2. Importance of reflection
It is better to learn through reflection in any module as reflecting on the works will enhance
meaning. Reflecting on the experiences will encourage insight as well as complex learning. We
all foster growth when we can able to control our learning, some reflection is best for us to
conduct work into this Cesim simulation project. Reflection helps me to link current experiences
with previous learnings. It involved to draw forth cognitive as well as emotional information
from various sources (Easterby-Smith and Cunliffe, 2017). In this semester module, our teachers
promote of reflective classrooms make sure that the students are to be engaged into process of
creating meaning to the course work. In this reflective theory, we are using REFLECT theory to
gain a better understanding of simulation project.
3. Selection of reflective model
In this study, reflective model is used for articulate development of work related skills
mapped to evidence drawn from the project. It is demonstrated of knowledge as well as

understanding of background relative to chosen project and placement. It is evaluated
effectiveness to prepare and plan the project to placement and project implementation
(Greasley, 2017). REFLECT model is used in this simulation project as a path to reflect on skills
and knowledge and learning from this study.
4. Things I learnt from the PPDI
I learned to tackle of work related issues throughout customer satisfaction activities that
was performed by me. It helped me to solve of the problems that was being planned for Cesim
simulation to conduct of 40 tasks and 4 simulation tasks. Therefore, in this case I learned of
problem solving. This simulation project helped me to solve of relational capabilities as well as
informative inclinations. I learned that customer satisfaction is the mail goal of this project. I
experienced of estimation of the time which was required to complete the project on time
undertaking of project objectives as well as measurements like cost, time as well as so forth
(Reynolds, 2017). I learned what my project is, how it should work and what must be done to
complete it. I also learned to use of Gantt chart to design the project plan. Apart from the
planning stage for the simulation project, the chart demonstrated of arrange d time and time
span for particular undertaking of the project work (Easterby-Smith and Cunliffe, 2017). It also
showed the tasks which were allocated to each individual team members.
I remembered that I have to complete this project work on time to meet with the project
deadline. Therefore, at first I prepared an action plan which helped me to conduct each tasks as
per scheduled time. I managed the project tasks as per it is group planned to finish the program
while focused on quality, financial value and timelines for achieving the project objectives as
well as goals (Gould and Taylor, 2017). I remembered that I had to complete the work based on
two learning outcomes such as LO1: Demonstration of ability to relate of academic theory
towards work environment and then recognition of contribution of work practices to
development of theory. LO2 is confidently of applying of work related skills into the professional
context. The outcomes are to be assessed considered of aggregate costs, hours used to
complete the project, project quality to complete the tasks.
5. Difference of knowledge
In this PPDI module, we had used four types of skills for simulation project such as
developmental skills. I set up of perception of societal issue space for the satisfaction of
customer that include of thoughts fall inside as well as outside of breaking points for this
particular project. We had computational experiences which helped is to examine arrangement
of the facilities related to the customers. It is connection skills for the project work. I also

executed the project through my execution skills (Baldwin, 2016). In this study, the aim is
respect to learning controlled by means of knowledge and people to get by long shot vital factor
of the upper hand into the learning throughout the simulation. As project leader, I put aside of
the project goals which helped to dispatch, lead and also refine the tasks which are required for
the process of simulation. I applied of translational skills for impel progress towards satisfaction
of customer that made with help of intensive responses for identification of issues into the
Cesim simulation project. Therefore, those are experiences which we had used to work into the
simulation project.
6. Value gained in knowledge
The Cesim project is group based and undertaken administration recreation. It is enabled the
members for encounter elements to deal with the project that is piece more extensive with
complex cross venture conditions. My main focus in this project is to complete the project on
time and achieve of the project objectives (Kolb, 2014). As the main focus is related to customer
satisfaction, therefore I concerned on their requirements. Thinking about what has happened is
part of being a human. It is difficult to find of opportunities for shared reflective practices into
the workplaces. With comprehension of interchange of the community oriented as well as
focused components into the domain, it puts of relational aptitudes at testing for satisfying the
customers. Therefore, I was mainly focused on project planning which provide project with
innovative authorization before it is undertaking director that can proceed with the project
tasks.
It is required for me to achieve the project aim as objectives as well as goals are critical to
vital arrangement since there is transformation of mission along with vision into quantifiable
targets. I evaluated the project work and ensured that all the project related tasks remained on
plan and conveyed required level of quality work. When I saw that the project work is behind
calendar, then I asked the team members to work extra hours to meet with the planned timeline
(Kumar, 2016). I utilized of outsourcing for errands which are to be accessible for the purpose of
outsourcing (Baldwin, 2016). I also evaluated that it is required to reflect on the learning as it
helped to develop of skills as well as review effectiveness, rather than carry on doing of things as
it is always done (Brunstein, Sambiase and de Novaes, 2017). Self-reflection is also important as
it helped to build of emotional self-awareness and better understanding of the emotions,
strength and weakness of each individual persons.
I considered some of the actions which are taken by me to create of abilities into distinguish
as well as investigate of key factors which impacts fruitful fulfilment of program along with

interlocking of undertakings. I upgraded of certainty based on the expository basic leadership
while connection of utilization of assets to apprehension implementation (Vince and
Reynolds, 2017). I also helped the team members and cooperated with all the project
related tasks. I helped the team members in critical thinking as well as energized focused
on spirits into community program along with undertaking of administration conditions.
I should consider that I have to change my leadership skills as sometimes I am not able
to motivate my team members (Hislop, Bosua and Helms, 2018). The outcomes of this
project are assessing of aggregate costs and time to finish the work on time.
7. Change in practice
The project supervisor has allocated the tasks among four people as we are a team of only 4.
Each of the tasks were allocated based on the skills in the team members. Each of the team
members are being allocated with maximum of 4 assignments for each of the project round.
Group page is incorporated about the data on expenses for each of the team members. Work
costs demonstrated of expenses for standard hours, slack time and extra hours (Greasley 2017).
There were also fluctuation of expenses while staring first round and moved one by one. I
related the project analysis with knowledge and understanding of skills. The activities into the
simulation project helped me to understand where actually I am, where I meant to be after
sometimes and achieve in terms of career skills (Rokooei and Goedert, 2015). I also conducted of
SWOT analysis to identify the strengths and weakness in my learning which helped me to reflect
models into my writing.
Title: Entry 1b- Reflective report on Cesim Simulation Game
1. Introduction
I and my classmates had a great experience through this course and learnt great things that
will help me in career growth. The practical work in this course was also of great help as I got a
chance of presenting my knowledge that I gained from the lectures being given in classes. I will be
presenting in my learning diaries to demonstrate brief explanation on the concepts learnt from
lectures, group activities along with workshops and mostly through studying by myself. I have also
learnt building a project team is the most essential activity while planning for a project. I decided to
use the Gibb’s Reflective Cycle Model to the prepare this reflection report on chosen “CESIM Online
Game” which is a business simulation game so that the participants can improve their business skills
and learn by doing things (Hislop, Bosua and Helms, 2018). Gibb’s Reflective Cycle Model is defined
as a theoretical model and acts a framework for students to complete their reflective writing for

coursework assignments. In this model, there are six steps such that the next step is informed by the
previous step. I have presented this reflection on one week by following Gibb’s Reflective Model
(Quinn, 1998) to provide a detailed analysis of my experience gained through this course and
practical work. I have chosen this specific model so that I could think of ways to do something
differently or perform better next time.
2. Description
I executed CESIM online project which is a business simulation game available online and it
was being played as group. There were four group members decided by our tutor and a team named
“All Stars” was formed in week 4 and I was the Project Manager for a Digitizing and Payments
project. The customer is an insurance company, InsCorp, who wishes to automate the handling of
paper insurance claim documents. In this project, our task was to complete it in four months that is
four simulation rounds were being played by us (Husebo, O'Regan and Nestel, 2015). The project
was carried out by four project streams that are all interdependent and each project stream was
divided into 40 tasks.
We played one practice round and four simulation rounds means there were all together
five rounds. Every team member in the project invested their workdays since beginning of the
month and each team member was assigned with four tasks per month. In the first round, we have
read thoroughly through the case description and also browsed through every simulation pages as
those contained clues as well as insights that were useful. Our team also implemented plans and unit
testing was performed in the second round then at the next stage implementation was tested to
specify the steps required prior to deployment (Reynolds, 2017). At last at the final that is fourth
round, we started to prepare for deployment and ensured that all required tasks have been
completed with suitable level of quality. The project was completed successfully with active
participation and contribution of all the team members of All Stars group.
3. Feelings
I felt very happy and pleased after playing the CESIM game which was assigned as the
course project and I had a great experience while playing the game. It was full of entertainment as I
had to undertake certain tasks that were required to be fulfilled within the determined timeline. I
also gathered knowledge of time management while playing the game as I had to complete the
assigned tasks within provided time. I also enjoyed a lot during the game as it was attractive and
addictive as may main focus on completing the allocated duties with suitable pathway. I have also
found that it has improved my business skills and I have also learnt many things through various
methods to achieve the desired goals of the project (Rokooei and Goedert¸ 2015). I have also

acquired the experience of working as a team to ensure success of the project further, I have also
developed leadership qualities through the project.
Previously, I never had such great experience that I have gathered while executing the
project. My feelings have never been such great and remarkable as I had with this project. I believe
my feelings are valid as I felt myself like I am in real life environment rather than playing a game. I
would like to always welcome this situation if it arose again in the future as I would love to
participate in similar games to enhance my business skills (Smith and Roberts, 2015). Moreover, I
would participate in such projects next also so that I can increase my capability to work as a team.
4. Evaluation
In my opinion, the reflections will not change even if any other model or technique is being
followed for writing this report as the context will be same but process of presenting them may
differ according to the chosen method. I have analyzed that Gibb’s Reflective Cycle model. It is a
compact method for reflections as provide step by step presentation of reflection in well organized
and structured manner. The event helped me to determine the steps or actions that are required to
perform better next time (Sweet et al., 2018). From the event, I have learnt that effective learning
can be achieved through reflection as in-depth knowledge is gained on the subject while writing
reflections. I also found that from this particular event, I was able to organize as well as summarize
my experience to demonstrate my knowledge gathered from a project. I was able to carry out
proper sequencing and ordering of the information across various dimensions. I have demonstrated
that there were various difficulties while executing the project but I never got disappointed as I had
faith in my team mates that they will help me out to complete the project.
5. Analysis
From this project, I had an awesome experience through this course and learnt incredible
things that will help me in career development. I have likewise learnt team development is the most
basic action while planning to execute a project. I needed to embrace certain tasks that were
required to be completed inside the decided timeline (Taylor, 2017). I likewise developed learning of
time administration while playing the game as I needed to finish the assigned tasks within the given
time. I have additionally procured the experience of working as a group to guarantee achievement of
the project further, I have likewise created initiative characteristics through the project. I have
examined that Gibb's Reflective Cycle Model is a conservative strategy for reflections as it gives well-
ordered introduction of appearance in efficient and organized way. I have likewise determined that
the chosen technique is reasonable regarding deciding the steps or activities that are required to
perform better next time. I have analyzed that for better execution next time, there is a necessity to

have established that proper scheduling of activities is required to guarantee achievement of project
objectives. Hence, from this project I was able to develop my skills and knowledge besides the things

6. Conclusion
Overall, it can be said that I was able to demonstrate my skills and knowledge throughout
the course project work and I was able to complete the project with the help of my team members. I
have improved my business skills and I have also learnt many things through various methods to
achieve the desired goals of the project. I have also acquired the experience of working as a team to
ensure success of the project further, I have also developed leadership qualities through the project.
I was able to fulfill my roles and responsibilities while executing the project to achieve the desired
goals. I also found that team development is the initial requirement while planning for a project. I
have also analyzed that the Gibb’s Reflective Cycle model chosen for this reflection is suitable in
terms of determining the steps or actions that are required to perform better next time.
7. Action Plan
I have analyzed that for better performance next time, there is a requirement to design
project plan so that desired outcomes can be achieved from the project. I have identified that
scheduling of activities is an essential element while executing large projects as there may be issues
during the project. Hence, the project schedule will help to identify whether the project is on track
otherwise it have to be brought back on track with the help of proper corrective measures. I have
also identified that a proper quality management approach is also necessary to ensure quality level
of the project is maintained as per the requirements (Vince and Reynolds, 2017). The allocation of
resources is also another requirement to ensure success of the project as over allocation or resource
allocation issues may even result into failure of a project. I have found that the model chosen for this
reflection is suitable in terms of the determined goals and objectives. I have determined that a
proper risk management plan will be also suitable for executing the project as it will ensure
mitigation of risks if required such that the project could be completed on time with desired quality.
Finally, the plan for the project have to be evaluated thoroughly and approved by the stakeholders
prior to executing the project.
