CW2 Report: Examining Challenges, Skills, and Action Plan for Growth

INTRODUCTION
Developing a new skill set as well as gaining knowledge about different aspects is one of
the most important as well as crucial aspect as it is very essential in a market environment that is
highly competitive and dynamic in nature to gain various types of knowledge so that it can help
in personal and professional development and growth (Al-Htaybat, Hutaibat and von Alberti-
Alhtaybat, 2019). In this report there is a brief discussion about various challenges that are faced
by me in order to achieve different things that are very crucial in developing different things that
possess a lot of value in the current scenario. Apart from this the report also covers elaboration of
four challenges that are debate, presentation, t-shirt, and hotel challenge and the skills that are
acquired by me while facing these challenges in an impactful manner. Further this report also
includes a detailed action plan so that the above things that I want to achieve can be
accomplished well within a limited time frame.

Elaboration and examination of different challenges and the skills that are acquired by me in
order to achieve them by making suitable action plan for the same
There are various challenges that are faced by me during my studies in the university and
thus all of them are explained in a detailed manner below-
Debate challenge- It is a challenge that is faced by me at the very starting of my education in the
university as different projects were there that requires debate to be done in a seminar and thus I
faced this challenge as I lack necessary communication and attractive skills that is very critical in
a debate.
Skill developed- As I keep on practising again and again in order to achiever perfection and at
last I was successful in accomplishing it and that too within a limited time period and it had
proved very beneficial for me in the long run as it helped me in interacting with others in an
effective and efficient manner. Apart from this I also developed other skills top while working in
this aspect in a detailed manner and those skills are time management and teamwork, skills that
are related with operating business effectively, and meeting skills (Baird, Davidson and
Mathiassen, 2017).
Action plan- Since it is a very important aspect I made a plan with utmost accuracy and
preciseness so that it can be implemented and executive in a successful way so that it can help

me in building sustainability in the long term. I used various tools and techniques in it like
watching professionals videos, meeting people so as to know each ones prospective, etc. and all
these helped me a lot in acquiring this skill effectively.
Presentation challenge- This challenge that I faced was at the middle of my studies in the
university as different presentations were required in order to present personal as well as team
view point and thus it is very essential to put the mind set in front of others in a positive way so
that it can add value in the long run context. Since I was not that good in managing and leading
teams it poised as a big challenge for me initially but I overcame that in even more stronger way
(Kuh, 2016).
Skill developed- Main skill set that I developed is the way to manage every single individual in
a team in addition to personal management that helped me to gain advantage over others that are
also facing same challenges. Apart from that I came to know the moral values and ethics that are
very important in a team and also came to know the value of teamwork and its impact that it can
pose in front of other personnels. Also I developed good communication skills, time
management, and different business skills that possess a lot of importance in the current market
scenario.
Action plan- The action plan that I made so as to overcome this challenge in an efficient and
effective way is to do a detailed research, analysis, and evaluation of all the aspects so that I
would not do the same mistakes that the previous teams had made. Apart from this I carried out
different tasks personally as well as in a team so that a preview can be build in order to do all the
things in an impactful manner which can lead to the personal development and growth of me as
an individual too.
T-shirt challenge- It is one of the most unique as well as a big challenge to offer a t-shirt and
also design it accordingly so that it can reach maximum number of people and attract as many as
possible and that too within a short time period in an impactful way. There are a number of
different aspects in it like marketing, sales, HR, financial part, etc. and since I was not that good
in all of them it poised as a challenge for me which is very crucial and must be overcome as early
as possible so that it can add market value in the long run (Li, Luo and Peng, 2017).
Skill developed- The main skill that I developed in this aspect is time management, and meeting
skills as I met a lot of different individuals while facing this challenge and each one of them
taught me a different lesson which helped in the development and growth of me as a person.

Apart from this I developed communicating skills too since I interacted with a number of persons
during this period and also teamwork is also developed as I came to know that it is very
important to work as a team rather than managing all the aspects alone. Also I acquired different
business skills that possesses a lot of value in the industry which is highly competitive in nature.
Action plan- The plan that has been formulated by me to overcome this challenge was highly
practical so that it can hold its value in the current market scenario and it laid the way for my
success in this aspect and also made me understand various things that is not possible to acquire
without facing this challenge. Also I took help of different tools and techniques that are
prevailing in the current market circumstances so that it can prove beneficial for me in the long
run and the things that were used by me is a detailed evaluation that has been done by me during
this period and with the help of it I gathered necessary and appropriate information which proved
useful for me in acquiring the desired skills in an impactful, effective, and efficient manner (Liu,
Chung and Hsuan-Pei, 2020).
Hotel challenge- Since hospitality sector is one of the biggest as well as organised sector which
at times becomes complicated as it involves a lot of aspects and thus it poised a big challenge for
me to gather all the required information so that it can help me in analysing and evaluating all the
aspects and that too in a systematic and sequential manner. Apart from it hotel education is very
much necessary as it helps in understanding a lot of things which can help in the long run.
Skill developed- While facing this challenge I developed a lot of skills staring from good
communication since a lot of different people come in a hotel of all ages so it is very crucial to
talk to each one of them in an impactful way so that it can help in the growth and development in
the near future. Also I developed teamwork, managing and business related skills while facing
this challenge in addition to meeting skills that are developed at the starting only since I faced a
lot of different individuals with different mind set (O'Neill, Johnson and Mandela, 2019).
Action plan- Action plan for this challenge is very important as it is one of the most crucial
things and I have also done this in a very precise manner keeping in mind all the different things
that can be done and will impact the working both directly as well as indirectly. Apart from this I
used different techniques that are used by reputed hotels so that I can change things that are not
feasible and adopt the ones that are good for overall operations.

CONCLUSION
From the above it can be concluded that there are a number of challenges that are faced
by me while studying in the university and since all of them carriers a lot of importance and is
helpful in acquiring different skill set after successful accomplishment of the challenges. Apart
from this it can be concluded that making an effective action plan is very necessary and has to be
formulated in an efficient way so that it can help in improve the sustainability in the long term
context.
