Introduction
Managing team is an important goal for every organisation with the increasing business
competition, expectations and new technology. It is critical to build teamwork in an
organisation that could be achieved by trust, communication and effective leadership skills
(Ulrich, Wallen, Cui, Chittams, Sweet & Plemmons, 2015). It is observed that without trust
and communication teams cannot be managed. In this report, the challenges that are faced
while managing the team is discussed and the opportunities and its best practise that should
be followed are discussed (Prasad,Perera, Padmini & Bandara, 2018)
. Team management is an ability of an individual and is achieved if they are able to
communicate, and develop a relationship with the members of team is critical for building
trust, promoting collaboration, and enhancing teamwork (Engstrom, Cardoso, Lacerda,
Teixeira, Belmonte & Bodstein, 2018). Thus, the major challenges faced and the practices to
resolve them are listed below.
Challenges faced while managing team
There are various challenges that are faced by an individual while working in a team
(Prasad,Perera, Padmini & Bandara, 2018)
. The common challenges that are faced by team are:
Communication gets muddled if the teams never meet face to face. Thus, it becomes
hard for the employees to coordinate about a particular event. Thus, the major
challenge is adapting to the new environment (Engstrom, Cardoso, Lacerda, Teixeira,
Belmonte & Bodstein, 2018).
Culture conflicts also arise at time of working in a team, as employees come from different
culture and location. They differ completely in terms that may cause an issue while making
decisions (Cleary, Flammia, Minacori & Slattery, 2015)

. Employees come from different background thus they think in a different way that
can lead to cultural conflicts.
Lack of creativity and participation is another challenge; poor attendance at time of
meeting can cause low energy at the work (Cleary, Flammia, Minacori & Slattery,
2015). Creativity is an important component of an organisation. For an organisation to
be successful it is necessary that employee keep on innovating new things (Chen,
2016).
Ineffective leadership can cause failure if vision is not defined in a particular
direction. Team engagement is important for business success. Thus, if business
suffers from lack of engagement can lead to ineffective growth(Kroll, Mäkiö &
Assaad, 2016) . To overcome this strong leadership is required in an organisation so
that a team works in a common direction.
Poor change management- Change management is important as it helps the business
to grow, but managing these changes is a difficult task. Change management is an
important and it need to be adapted (Kroll, Mäkiö & Assaad, 2016).
Lack of transparency- In an organisation due to lack of transparency there are
chances that conflicts may arise while working as employees remain unaware about
the direction in which other employees are working (Line, Tøndel & Jaatun, 2016).
Additionally, it is important for the teams to walk in a same direction for that
transparency is an important factor (Bakar, Yaacob & Udin, 2015). Retaining employees and handling negativity is challenging as a negative employee
create negativity n other employee. Thus, negativity should be stopped by organising
programs so that a positive workplace is created.

Opportunities and best practices
Some of the best practises that should be followed for managing the team effectively are:
Be confident- It is important that while managing the team the leader should be
confident so that they can raise their opinion and others can easily agree upon it.
Confidence is an important asset while managing the team (Bakar, Yaacob & Udin,
2015). Get involved- It is necessary that a team member should effectively involve in all the
activities so that they can make the team members connected (Gore & Osborne,
2017). Good communication- It helps in removing all the conflicts that can arise between the
team mates (Gore & Osborne, 2017). For working effectively in a team,
communication is an important component. Training- Organising training programs can help employee to know about new
innovation and technologies (Ramserran & Haddud, 2018). Thus, appropriate
technologies should be selected so that virtual teams can run effectively. Apart from that regular meetings and feedback should be offered so that all the team
members remain connected and the ways for improvement could be found (Tøndel,
Line & Jaatun, 2014). Motivating the tea members is the best practise, as it will help them remain
enthusiastic towards work. This could be done by acknowledging and appreciating the
employees for their good work by offering rewards (Dikert, Paasivaara & Lassenius,
2016). Encourage creativity ensures that employees remain clear about what is
expected from them. Be decisive- It is suggested that an organisation should have team leads that is
decisive so that they can make important decisions for the team (Ulrich, Wallen, Cui,
