INTRODUCTION
Employees are the backbone of the organisation. They play important role in smooth
running of the organisation. Human resource is the department which is responsible for hiring
the skilled and knowledgable employees in the organisation who the capabilities to achieve the
business goal in effective manner(Paisley and Tayar, 2016). Tesco is the multinational retailing
company which deals in electronics, furniture, toys, financial services, clothing and books. It is
established in Welwyn Garden City, England, UK. It is the top leading company in retailing
industry. This report will cover the practical and legal challenges that organisation experience in
managing the employment relationship within company.

Evaluate the practical and legal challenges that organisation experience in managing the
employment relationship with the contemporary workplace.
Employees are the major factor for any successful business so It is necessary to have
good employee relationship within the organisation for effective achieving the business goal and
leads the organisation to generate higher sale. In current scenario, the employees are facing
various challenges within the organisation and they are explained below:
Problems with co-workers: Employees are facing work related issue in the organisation.
This is the issue which arises due to lack of understanding between colleague in work
place (Lloyd-Walker, French and Crawford, 2016). People having different perception
will leads to create problem in the business. When employees become stiff to their
thinking and not understanding the point of view of other person. This reach out with big
conflict in the organisation and If the employees are not efficient enough to maintain their
professional relationship in the workplace this will leads to decrease the productivity of
the business.
Workplace ethics and integrity Issues: These are the principles of the individual which is
followed by the employees in relation to their job. Poor working environment and
individual ethics can be risky to anyone's job (Leonard, 2016). It may leads to lose the
job of the individual. There should be strict rules for those who say to compromise their
integrity and loyalty toward work. Review the employer's work ethics and In case any

loop holes is found, then just report to human resource or legal representative. Tesco is
the leading organisation and work with large number of workforce in the organisation so
IT is necessary to maintain the employee relationship within the organisation.
Conflicts with boss: Problems with the boss is the major challenges in the workplace. It is
difficult to solve the problem with the higher authority who completely involved in the
problem and they are the only listener to the problem(Kuhn, (Ashcraft and Cooren,
2017). This can be due to personality differences or changes in perception of individuals.
Problem can be unnecessary creating hurdle in the business activities to show their
superiority of being boss and leads to create conflicts in the workplace. Tesco having
good working culture but it is mandatory to keep checking that is there is any problem
with the employees and the boss within the organisation.
Minimum wages act: This act is concerned with the employees that each employee will
get minimum wages for their specific job role. There should be no discrimination or
favouritism in the workplace. All the employee should be treated equally and reward
them according to their performance. If there will be a problem in the organisation that
they are not getting their deserving wages for the specific job role this will leads to
decrease the productivity of the employees and Tesco will slow down their business
operation and the market share of the company will fall down.
Occupational safety and health act(OSHA): This act is concerned with the health safety
of the employees within the organisation. This will leads to create risk for the individual
and may suffer employee's health. It says that each employee should get safe working
environment for effective productivity of the worker in their various business operations.
An employees should take a step, practice for the change that bring positive environment
that will leads to good health of the employee. Tesco is conducting various campaign to
promote the good working environment and leads the business to growth with positive
and safe working environment in the organisation.
Family and medical leave act: This act says that an employees should get job-protected
leaves and other benefits when any employees is facing any serious health issue and
family health problems(Breunig, 2016). There are major disease that effect the health of
the individual. There are various health related issues that need paid leaves for the
employees.

For any organisation, It is important to maintain the employment relationship in the
organisation. It is recommended that Tesco should follow all the legal laws to create positive
environment in the organization. When employer do not discriminate the employees then It will
leads to create conflicts with the co-workers(Small, Shacklock and Marchant, 2018).It will be
beneficial for the Tesco to give proper management of wages and working hours of the
employees to increase the productivity of them this will leads to achieve the business goal in and
effective manner.
CONCLUSION
This is concluded from the above report that employees relationship within the workplace
play have a major impact on the business goal. There should be equal employment opportunity
for each employees so that they can give their best to achieve the business goal. This report
evaluate the challenges faced by employed in the workplace and organisation should create
positive and healthy environment for employees.
