Enterprise Leadership 1
Today’s business environment has become very much complex and this has created new
challenges for the leadership and management roles. According to the changing business
environment leaders also requires bringing flexibility in their approach. There are two types of
enterprise leadership i.e. the individual leadership and network leadership (Watkins, 2012, P. 65).
Individual leadership effectiveness can be enhanced by attaining its objectives and leading their
team leads to the higher individual performance, whereas, network leadership contributes to
performance of other units and teams and also leading their own team to effectively perform.
Hence, enterprise leadership links itself with the organizational objectives, teams, meetings and
their own goals as well as helping other teams also to achieve the organizational goals (Miles, &
Van Clieaf, 2017, p. 57). Other than this, when we talk about leadership and management roles
certain differences are analyzed as leadership helps in formulating actions of leading group
towards the common goal. Moreover, they also inspire others to work over the companies’ goals
and objectives. Not only this, they also motivate employees towards individuals and
organizational goals. However, in terms of management, it is the process of dealing and
controlling resources along with people. Mainly it plans, organizes and coordinates activities and
measures the progress of the organization and adapts the process accordingly (Bower, & Paine,
2017, p. 165). But if we see management and leadership both work towards the common goal
and are concerned with the overall success of the organization (Nienaber, 2010, P. 663). This
essay mainly talks about the enterprise leadership, which highlights about the leadership and
management roles and the challenges faced by them in an international environment.
When we consider the personal challenges of the leadership in a global environment, it mainly
highlights about the emotional dimension of working in different cultures having different
mindset of people. Dealing with different languages, habits and different thinking style of the
individuals all comes under personal challenges, which the leadership faces. Other than this,
certain external challenges mainly talks about the interpersonal connections, which were
established because of the ineffective communication aspect and the ways in which information
is shared globally (Mendenhall, et al, 2017, p. 57).
Moreover, certain transformative challenges are also highlighted and faced by the global leaders,
which shows the relationship between the psychological wellbeing and the transformational
leadership (Maranga & Sampayo, 2015, p 85). The effects of management by exception and

laissez-faire behaviors negatively affect the employees’ well-being, which reduces the trust
within the organization. In this the most important aspect is that employees need to be respected,
feel valued, developed and cared for. In this, leaders need to create the culture in which
employees can display their skills and values to perform better in an organization, which not only
helps the employees at the personal level, but also organization as a whole (Maranga, &
Sampayo, 2015, p. 86).
However, when we see the challenges of roles management in global environment it mainly
highlights about the lack of clarity due to the change in language, translations and poor phone
connections, which mainly highlights about the lack of communication, hinder the working
conditions, and affects the overall workings of the organization (Miles, & Van Clieaf, 2017, p.
59).
Another challenges faced by the management in the global environment highlights about the
slow decision making aspects and that slow decision makes the process even more slower which
hampers the growth of the business. Another reason can be the disjointed conflict resolution in
which working through the mails makes the situation difficult to deal and with proper
communication makes the situation even more worst (Simonet, & Tett, 2012, P. 202)
Hence, the notion of global mindset is quite reverse and concern as, openness to awareness
among the diversity in both the cultural context and the organizational context in between the
countries and the ability to think about the business challenges are the only solutions to the
aroused challenges (Cseh, Davis & Khilji, 2013).
Alternatively, the nature of the encounters that international executives or the leaders faces but
accordingly there are rapid changes occurred. For example, global situation is more multifaceted
in nature, erratic in nature (Simonet & Tett, 2012, P. 202). For this, enterprise leaderships are
developing on the job experience, training, filling the communication gap, providing various
training sessions and lastly, they are also organizing coaching and mentoring session for
improvements and also preparing them to deal with global issues. They are also focusing on
developing the leadership vision, which are associated with the implementation plans, and
creating the combined business culture and accomplish through the growth of both inner as well
as outer relations arrangements (George, Howard-Grenville, Joshi, & Tihanyi, 2016, p. 1889).

Roles of enterprise leaders’ highlights that they needs to break down silos and for that, effective
communication is required. As unnecessary silos invites the hidden agenda rather than effective
cross-functional teamwork (Nienaber, 2010, P. 664). It is seen that administrative silos are the core
cause issue of workplace, which mainly affects the entrepreneurial spirit within employees.
Other than this, developing and maintaining the managerial effectiveness is one of the major
challenge for that leader will work on those tasks that helps in maximizing the specific value to
the organization (Reiche, Bird, Mendenhall, & Osland, 2017, p. 74). Leaders should also take an
active role in mentoring, coaching and developing other who belongs to the other culture. This
step will be helpful for both the employee as well as organization to understanding the workings
and will leads to the success of both in long run (Reiche, et al, 2017, P. 556). Moreover, it is an
argument from the modern day business is that being open-minded is also majorly required in the
business. Solution to such challenges is to maintain strategic perspective in which executive must
have clearer views for the future of the company (Miles, & Van Clieaf, 2017).
Other than these aspects, the best leaders know how to build highly engaged and committed
teams. Hence, for that, they create the spirit de corpes within their team, which leverage the skills
and commitment of others to accomplish the goals and objectives. However, it is not easier to
develop a multi-cultural team. Moreover, the best international administrators are eager to take
risks and exploit the unrealized potential (Simonet, & Tett, 2012, P. 203).
Lastly, they also need to work on understanding and managing the external forces. For this they
require leaders to learn the governmental, legal, economic factors which majorly affect the
businesses. Hence, this proves that external forces impacts on the entire organization. In
additional, leaders should also find a common ground for honoring and respecting cultural
differences and at the same time creating and generating alignment in work and the set mission
by the organization (Bush, Bell, & Middlewood, 2019, p. 23).
From the above essay, we can conclude that leadership and management plays a major role in
creating challenges in the global environment. Both individual and organizational challenges are
faced by the company. It is the role of the management to motivate people by understanding their
needs. In this regards being a transformational leader works for the company. In addition to this,
there are certain solutions to fight against these challenges just as creating the shared goals and
implementing the shared work. Along with this, effective communication aspect was being

adopted by the organization across barriers and managing the relationship between the corporate
