I. INTRODUCTION
1. Background:
Coronavirus Pandemic came suddenly in the year 2019, which reversed the
normal life of billions of people all around the world. Coronavirus as known as
COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which existed
since 2002 in China. The virus can spread through the air from the infected people
when they speak, breathe or cough… Because the way it swells to society is extremely
easy so as of 15th November, 2021 nearly 255 million people were affected and more
than 5 million deaths worldwide (statistics by Worldometer). Besides the damage of
humans, there are countless impairments can not be reckoned by any numbers or
words. A long-obscured and terrifying truth has been ripped away by the coronavirus:
economies were unconsciously weak, assisted by low-wage employment, and human
health services were tissue-thin. Numerous employees lost their jobs and students in
many countries could not go to school for months included Vietnamese students. The
surprising pandemic has made people transform their studies from in-class lessons to
online-class. During Covid time, many habits have been altered and students have to
deal with many more problems with lockdown protocols.
2. Statement of the problem:
Because of the modifications during the Covid-19 Pandemic, I decided to do
research for the target is that sum up all the issues that young people have to deal with.
There are many changes in lifestyles and problems when students have to modify from
direct studying to study applications, get used to new schedules and control time of
themselves…

3. Research purpose
First and foremost, I would like to share the difficulties with all my IBD friends
and discuss them together. As the result of the modifications during the Covid-19
pandemic, I decided to try to groundwork for the target to sum up all the problems
about individuals’ time management and education that teens need to deal with.
Moreover, the mark that I aim for is to raise the awareness of self-protected from the
Coronavirus, remind IBD students of self-educated and find out the most effective way
to control timetable during the pandemic.

II. LITERATURE REVIEW:
1. Status of quarantine:
Because of the infection, Viet Nam’s government decided to promulgate
“Movement Restrictions” rules. All citizens of all provinces and cities of Viet Nam
have not been allowed to move to other places and stay in their homes until the
restrictions are being loosened. Hence, every student can not go to school or university
for a long period includes IBD s8 students.
2. Advantages and disadvantages of restrictions:
Advantages:
Got safe by staying distance from society
Help the country to against COVID
Having more time with families
Time to improve personal skills and change bad habits
Saving transportation fees
Disadvantages:
Modifying from direct taught to online lessons
Lost connections with relatives, friends, lovers…
Hard to adapt to university as freshmen

A. Participants:
The respondents to this survey are NEU IBD Intake 17 class S8 students. I chose
this group because they are my classmates and we are all freshmen who have the same
difficulties thus they will give me suitable answers. Moreover, due to the quarantine, I
have not had a chance to communicate with other friends in different classes so my
classmates are fit for my investigations.
B. Research tools:
1. Primary research
I have designed questionnaires on Microsoft Forms and sent them to all the
participants. Their answers will be recorded to supply figures and opinions to the
research, therefore I will summarize them by using charts and analyzing figures.
2. Secondary research
I will organize all the data with the statistics that I have collected from the
participants and consult information from different resources such as newspapers,
blogs, e-books,… Therefore I will write a report concludes my perspective.

The pie chart demonstrates the scale of IBD s8 students’ attitudes with the
impact of lockdown protocols. Overall, there is no student in s8 class who has a
positive posture with modifications during quarantine.
It is clearly witnessed that the proportion of students who felt neutral and the
one who found tough are approximately the same with 44% for the former and 45% for
the latter. The rest of the students (11%) assessed that the alteration was extremely
hard. According to the OECD, 188 countries have imposed countrywide school
closures, affecting more than 1.5 billion children and youth, the sudden changes made
many students must take a long time to adapt to.

The bar chart illustrates all the drawbacks that s8 students have featured
throughout internment time. Overall, none of the participants has struggled with the
infection, however several of their problems involved learning stuff and relationships.
Initially, tediousness was the most formidable challenge caused by social
distancing. Students have been bolted in their house for nearly two years (February
2020 to December 2021), staying removed from society, not hanging out with friends,
lovers, looking up at screen hours per day… with increases in depression, anxiety and
irritability were reported, about 17 out of 32 s8 students have problems with laziness
and boring.

There are several difficulties for s8 students as a result of they are all freshmen
and they are not guided directly by the teachers. 19 is the highest number of the entire
chart, which responds to the arduousness of students. As new students in a university,
the sudden existence of Covid-19 caused many disadvantages for newbies because they
have to get used to new learning methods and explore university settings that they
haven’t got any experience before.
Moving to the next stage, 14 students responded that they were felt depressed
because their parents lost their job during quarantine. When the living expenses such as
electricity, water bills, eating costs… stay the same but adults are not allowed to go to
work, the arguments in the family were started because of the lack of money and stress
of paying expenditures. According to Verywellmind, the consequences of lacking
money in some countries have been reckoned that early half (46%) struggled with
sleep, 39% of individuals were less interested in leaving the house. Moreover, 39%
saw modifications in their eating habits. Over a third reported feeling more irritable
(33%) or were less interested in spending time with friends and family.
The report shows that one student had a special problem during the lockdown
period and his drawback was being stuck during his vacation. He travelled with his
family to Phu Quoc island and during his trip, the government promulgated restriction
rules, which made him could not return to his house for nearly two months. Through
his stuck time, his family must pay various expenses for renting accommodation,
eating costs and some private types of equipment.

The given graph shows the typical difficulties of s8 students from the start of
their university life. Looking from an overall perspective, most students have struggled
with adapting to new education platforms.
According to the illustration, 9 participants have issues with the new teaching
way at the university. The academic system in college is completely different from
high school. At college, teachers are the supervisor for students’ work, thus it might be
strange to freshmen, who have just graduated from high school. In high school,
students get used to being guided in every aspect of problems by both teachers and
parents, however, at the university, it is more about self-educated and self-solved
difficulties. In addition, the academic style of doing research, assignments,
examinations will be another factor that freshmen have to take time to get used to.

Another difficulty that students have to cope with is the vast quantity of
homework, examinations and assignments. The chart peaked at 15 students who
struggled with the workload. Academic workload, separation from school, and fears of
contagion had negative effects on faculty students' health via perceived stress. In the
COVID-19 crisis, multiple prevention and control measures focusing on college
students may lead them to different degrees of stress and health problems.
The figures show that the quantity of s8 students who have difficulties with the
workload is equal to students who lacked community activities. It is undeniable that
collective activities play an essential role in the education path of every student.
Cooperative learning groups for college courses are a compilation of collaborative
learning activities suitable for use in college-level courses. All the activities will be
postponed until the restrictions are removed and NEU allows students to go back to
direct classes.
About 11 students claimed that they have arduousness to arrange their timetable.
Procrastination will chop students to bits in an online course. There is nobody to remind
them to get to class on time, no one reminding them that assignments are due or that exams
are coming. Subsequently, 10 students reported that they did not know how to choose
appropriate majors for themselves. It is a common difficulty of any student at the age of 18,
when they have to decide the right way for their career. In addition, 8 participants have
problems with study fees. During the pandemic, many of the students’ parents lost their
occupations, hence their finances were unstable cause them depression about study costs.
There are many perfectly understandable reasons to feel stressed or anxious. Tuition
fees are high, students have got food costs, study materials, transportation, health
insurance and lots of other expenses.

The given bar chart indicates the participants’ perspectives of how they feel
about the benefits of limitations. Overall, although the Covi11d-19 restrictions caused
many drawbacks for the participants, there are still some advantages that the students
can gain from quarantine.
First and foremost, it is undeniable that lockdown protocols have helped us to
have more private time. 13 out of 32 participants said they loved the flexibility of time
that the restrictions had brought for them. Psychological flexibility was improved
significantly and positively associated with greater wellbeing and inversely related to
anxiety, depression, and COVID-19-related distress. S8 students could have more time
to relax, gather with family and more time for their favourite things such as playing
games, watching movies, drawing,…. Moreover, the number of participants who
preferred virtual learning more than the traditional way of studying is tantamount to the
number of participants who were satisfied with the flexibility of time (13 participants).

The reasons may come from various benefits that studying online creates for students
such as allowing students to organize their own learning environment. When students
are studying at home, they can customize their own unique atmosphere that is
conducive to what they need for concentration. Another skill that participants had
developed during the online learning process is self-motivation. In an online
environment, they will have to develop proper time management skills and keep
themselves motivated to complete tasks and stay on track to finish the coursework on
time. This will involve setting their own tasks and deadlines and constructing days so
that they can meet those goals.
Furthermore, 12 out of 32 participants evaluated that they could improve their
self-educated skills and 6 participants said that they had better time managing by
studying at home. Choosing to continue education online will have greater flexibility to
juggle career, education, and home life without the confines of a fixed schedule.
Participants will be able to log in and complete their coursework, study, and do
homework, all at times that can fit in with individual schedules, instead of rearranging
schedules to work around traditional class times.
As can be seen from the graph, 8 students reported that online learning helps them
to reduce the expenditure and time on transportation. It is widely known that
transporting in a big city like Ha Noi will take the students a lot of time. Every time
they go to university, students have to cope with tons of issues such as traffic jams,
high cost of fuel … However, by staying at home, participants do not need to pay any
fees for transporting and they can spend time on other more worthy things.
