INTRODUCTION
Challenging behavior is linked with any kind of disability or any other disease which
individual is suffering from. Further, learning disability is regarded as the major situation which
gives rise to learning disability and in turn individual is not able to read or write. In order to deal
with individual having learning disability within health and social care it is necessary for
providers to have proper knowledge along with skills (Peate and Fearns, 2006). The present
study is based on learning disability clinic that works in partnership with SEN and has two
departments where one is for children and other one for young people. Report focuses on various
areas such as different concepts of challenging behavior, effects of behavior on healthcare
organizations etc.
4.1DIFFERENT CONCEPTS OF CHALLENGING BEHAVIOR IN
SERVICE USERS
Challenging behavior is regarded as the problem behavior in which any individual is not
able to react in proper manner. Further, individual is not in a situation to identify whether his or
her behavior is favorable for the society or not. Apart from this, the real impact of this behavior
can be seen in the form of self injury, aggressiveness, stereotyped and non person directed. It is
most commonly regarded as expression of distress by the person to communicate (Ranson,
Abbott and Braithwaite, 2014). Considering the present scenario the learning disability clinic is
indulged into practices of delivering different type of services to the users where two separate
departments have been developed. One department is linked with children and other one is for
young people who are diagnosed for the challenging behavior. At present some of the users have
Autistic spectrum disorder which is considered as a developmental disorder whose main
attributes involve difficulty in social interaction and communication.
Along with this it involves repetitive pattern of though and behavior. One of the main
challenge is that individual is not able to communicate properly with others and they do not
prefer to interact with each other socially. Apart from this, the unfavorable situation is present in
case of both young people and children who are having some sort of learning disability. The key
concepts involved in challenging behavior are that it prevents individual from interacting with
other and in turn they are not able to learn new things (Lloyd, 2012). Further, social interaction
becomes difficult as thought along with behavior of individual totally changes. Learning
disabilities can directly make it hard for specific child to read, write or to do simple calculations

in math. The most common learning disorder take into consideration dyslexia, dyscalculia, non
verbal learning disability and dysgraphia. Through learning disability clinic proper treatment is
rendered to large number of individuals who have to face some sort of challenge. Apart from
this, the main reason behind occurrence of learning disorder involves genetics where reading and
math disability may be due to hereditary. Medical condition is also regarded as one of the main
reason behind learning disorder where conditions such as consumption of alcohol in large
amount lead to unfavorable result. Apart from this, learning disability need of every individual
differs from each other and on the basis of same providers in healthcare have to deliver treatment
(Grant and et. Al., 2010). It is necessarily required for every healthcare practitioner to understand
about the challenging behavior as on the basis of same it is possible to deliver treatment and its
absence leads to unfavorable results for the healthcare unit.
4.2 POTENTIAL EFFECTS OF CHALLENGING BEHAVIOUR ON
HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATIONS
Learning disability clinic is indulged into practices of delivering treatment to the services
especially who are not able to read, write or performing math calculation. Further, challenging
behavior has direct impact on healthcare organization where business has to deliver services on
the basis of requirement of users. Moreover, it is well known fact that learning disability of every
user differs from each other due to which understanding the same is necessary. Apart from this,
modification of the service range is necessary for healthcare enterprise as in case if any
individual is not able to read or write then treatment is provided in same manner. Moreover, care
and support has to be delivered in proper manner to the service users so that they can behave in
positive manner (Cooper, 2012). It needs to be ensured that staff members present within the
workplace are supportive so that they can assist service users in appropriate manner keeping in
view overall requirement. Healthcare organization has to deliver proper training to the
employees so that they can meet with the requirement of service users. Sometime, it may be
possible that healthcare practitioners are not able to understand actual need of the users and due
to this main reason training has to be delivered. Apart from this, challenging behavior of service
users encourages organization to ensure that adequate amount of resources are being present
through which patient need can be satisfied in most efficient manner. Without understand real
requirement of service users healthcare organization is not able to operate efficiently and it
sometime leads to decline in overall level of performance. Learning disability clinic is indulged

into practices of rendering services to young adult along with children. So, learning disability of
every individual requires rendering proper services so that healthcare enterprise can serve service
users in appropriate manner (Bering, 2010). Practitioners have to develop themselves in such a
manner so that they are able to service individuals with Autistic spectrum disorder or any other
type of disability. Healthcare enterprise has to develop each and every department so that
satisfaction level of the service user can be enhanced easily and in specific period of time.
Sometime, the challenging behavior has adverse impact on entire firm where practitioners are not
able to understand the specific needs of service users. Different types of learning disability are
being present such as dyslexia, dyscalculia etc where it is necessary to identify well in advance
which type of behavior any individual is highlighting and on the basis of same service can be
delivered easily. So, this highlights the real impact of challenging behavior of healthcare
organization such as learning disability clinic.
4.3 STRATEGIES USED WHEN SUPPORTING CLIENTS WITH
SPECIFIC NEEDS
In order to support individuals with specific needs various strategies are employed by
learning disability clinic and they support in delivering proper services as per the needs. One of
the most effective strategy involves direct communication where practitioners communicate with
service users on continuous basis through which it becomes easy to understand about their
specific requirement. Moreover, it builds trust along with confidence in the service users when
practitioners interact with them (Soni and et. Al., 2014). Sometime, it may be possible that
service providers are not able to understand the requirement of service users due to lack of
knowledge or skills. Another type of strategy being employed is training to healthcare
practitioners and this directly supports in providing services to users with specific needs.
Training being rendered supports in enhancing the knowledge and skills level. This strategy is
considered to be most effective in providing services to the patients with different needs.
Introduction of feedback system is another strategy which is being employed within the
workplace. Through feedback system it is possible to know whether the service being delivered
on the basis of disability was effective or not. In short, healthcare organization can easily identify
the major areas where its performance lacks and improvement is needed (Understanding
challenging behavior., 2016). This strategy enhances satisfaction level of service users as many
time it is possible that presence of feedback lowers down confidence level of users and it may

have adverse impact on firm. Due to this reason, introduction of effective feedback system is
must and its presence can surely bring favorable results for the entire firm. In short, main stress
must be on building trust in them which must be in favor of healthcare organization. Healthcare
organization has to ensure whether the services delivered are up to the mark or not. This can
surely enhance performance of healthcare entity in long term and can provide favorable results
for the business. Apart from this, communication on continuous basis and in informal manner is
fruitful. This can encourage individual to deal with the different type of disabilities and in turn
unfavorable situations can be avoided easily.
CONCLUSION

which is of different types. Further, learning disability clinic is indulged into practices of serving
different type of individuals who have issue in relation with reading, writing etc. Apart from this,
it is the duty of healthcare practitioners to understand the actual requirement of service users
which can differ from one individual to another. They must indulge into practices of
communicating with service users in better manner through different channels. Direct
communication can easily assist in avoiding unfavorable situations and can act as development
tool for the entire healthcare organization operating in the market. Moreover, obtaining feedback
from them on continuous basis is also appropriate through which healthcare practitioners can
understand actual requirement of the service users.
