Creating Change and Innovation
From the four selected weeks, I have learned several things that I trust are essential in
enhancing my knowledge. Some of the things that I have learned include the importance of
leadership, innovation, change, communication among others. Organizational growth is one sign
for the effectiveness of business and the most crucial concern to many managers (Jim 2013, p.
76). One of the essentials for organizational growth is change. In this case, change is dealing
with alteration and conversion of organizational process, technology and goals. Undergoing
these units helped me understand that change helps employees in learning new skills, explore
new opportunities and also enable them to exercise their creativity which is essential for
organizational growth. Undergoing this online activities enhanced my knowledge concerning
change by helping me understand that without a change, a company can lose its competitive edge
and fail to meet the expectations of attaining loyal customers. For example, customers who were
comfortable with the ovens in the past years are sometimes impatient with the microwave today.
This is because as the world evolves, customers need a change advancements to so that they can
be able to cope with the changing world. This therefore means that organizations must strive to
innovate new things and introduce change in their organizations to ensure the changing customer
needs and desires are addressed.
The readings also helped me understand that creativity is an essential tool for business
growth. According to Eleanor (2015, p. 57), creativity means coming up with new ideas whereby
something new and more valuable is formed. A combination of creative mind helps an
organization to put its business ideas into reality. However, most businesses only engage top
managers in this creativity decision but it is also good to engage all employees because this will
help them enhance self-confidence and feel motivated (Jatuporn 2011, p. 35). When employees

are motivated, they are able to work hard hence putting business into a success. Engaging in the
online activities assisted me to understand that creativity in an organization may include coming
up with new techniques on sale and promotion, introducing new goods and services, and so forth
(Tamara 2015, p 65). I also learned that having creative minds within the organization helps in
coming up with imaginative ways of approaching business problems which can lead to failure.
Creative thinking can make an organization to do better than others hence making consumers to
choose its products and services over those of competitors (Jatuporn 2011, p. 37). Implementing
creativity in workplace also help employees from different departments come together hence
improving social interactions in the organizations. This helps in sharing and learning new ideas,
hence improving performance.
The various activities I have undergone over those weeks have assisted me to understand
that innovation is also an important tool for the growth organization. According to Jim (2013, p.
77), innovation in business growth means translating ideas into goods and services which are
valuable to the customers. From this assertion I realized that innovation is important because it
helps an organization to grow fast regardless of the size. It also helps an organization to add
more employees which helps them grab more customers and have biggest share in the market.
Moreover, a company that innovates is able to stand out in the market (Tamara 2015, p 69). For
example, in an industry where there are many companies producing light bulbs and one want to
stand out, it can do so through innovating bulbs that are unique as compared to those of its
competitors. For instance, this can be through implementing light bulbs that automatically goes
off when people leave the house. Through this kind of innovation, many customers can be
attracted to buy and use such products hence creating a big market share (Eleanor 2015, p. 59).
Innovation also helps an organization to meets its customer needs. This is because consumer

needs keep changing day by day and through innovation an organization can be able to predict
change and come up with possible solutions before even consumers realize they need them.
Various reading materials that I have covered over those weeks have helped me realize
that an organization that aspires to grow and retain customers by providing quality goods and
services, good leadership is fundamental (Storey 2011, p. 34). Through engaging in group work,
assigned readings and assistance from my tutors, I have learned that leadership helps in
exploiting efficiency and accomplishing organizational goals through introducing actions to
address matters that hinder success. This includes communicating to employees about the plans,
policies and where they should start working. This is important because it helps every employee
to fully understand his or her duties hence reducing the issues of low performance or lack of
completing tasks (Popescu 2016, p. 89). I have also learned that good leadership is also
important because it enables the management to provide guidance to employees on how they
should perform their work more effectively through supervising them and giving them clear
instructions. Giving them guidelines minimizes chances of business problem and customer
dissatisfaction. Good leaders in organizations are important because they help in solving
conflicts that may arise under the weight of their influence. This may be either between an
employee and employees or employer and subordinate.
Organizational culture is also another important aspect that I have learned is crucial in
organizations. According to Tamara (2015, p. 66), organizational culture can be defined as the
beliefs, ideas, principles and values of a company. From this definition, I have realized that
0rganizational culture is crucial because it directs employees on how they should relate to each
other at the workplace. I have also realized that this aspect important because it brings all
employees at the common stand, hence making them to feel that the management treats them

equally irrespective of the factors that differentiate them. Bacon (2011, p. 56) asserts that
employees should adapt to the organizational culture because helps them to exercise their skills
well and deliver the best to their customers. A healthy organizational culture also unites
employees who are from different backgrounds and have varying altitudes and mentalities.
Therefore, an organization should form a culture whereby all employees have to respect
irrespective of their different backgrounds.
Communication is also another tool that I have realized plays a crucial roles for
organizational growth. Communication within a business is necessary because it helps in
improving workflow as well as increasing productivity. Effective communication also helps to
build a strong relationship between employees at all levels. This leads to effective work flow
because it makes employees to freely share ideas and come up with innovative solutions.
Employees are also able to trust one another and work as a group without isolating others.
Effective communication also reduces misunderstandings among employees and helps them to
appreciate each other. According to Ryszard (2015, p. 56), communication also makes the
management to come up with clear set out of duties and responsibilities to every employee, and
also aids in ensuring the right information concerning how tasks should be accomplished is
given. For managers to create a competitive business, they should have an effective
communication in all parts of the organization.
