INTRODUCTION
Change management is a cooperative method for each and every tactic used by an
organisation in order to prepare, support and assist people, teams and organisations in making
organisational change (Esfahbodi and et.al., 2017). The present case study is based on a French
car part manufacturer, Composants Perfectionnes having several plants in France, Spain and UK.
The case study is related to change management in the organisation to increase production of the
products for competing in the market.
1. Concept of Change management
Managing change is an organised approach used for dealing with the transformation or
transition of an organisation’s objectives, technologies or processes. The motive behind
managing change is to imply strategies for incorporating as well as controlling changes. Change
management refers to implement strategies for effecting change, controlling change. In order to
be effective, the change management process requires to consider how a replacement or
adjustment will affect employees, systems and processes within an organisation.
In context to Composants Perfectionnes, change management is very much necessary as
the new strategy of the organisation is focused on increasing production with the use of new
technologies in the manufacturing process. In this case the manufacturing organisation needs to
implement Engineering change management as the team of product development engineers plays
a major role in Composants Perfectionnes to manufacturing car parts and maintain the quality of
the production. Along with it manufacturing change process can assist in maximising the
capabilities of the technology, tools and available labour(Chan, Ngai and Moon, 2017).
According to the ADKAR model founded by Jeff Hiatt there are five essential steps which can
applied in the Composants Perfectionnes. –
Awareness of the need for change, as Composants Perfectionnes is facing tough
competition in the industry and due to closure of the UK plants it needs to increase its
productivity with the use of technologies.
Need to involve in the change management process
Gaining Knowledge of manging change
Capability to imply behaviours and change altogether
Strengthening to sustain change

2. Changes needed by Composants Perfectionnes
In order to sustain in the competitive industry Composants Perfectionnes needs for
adapting several changes within its production process. For example - In order to improve
the manufacturing process, the company needs to implement Computerised maintenance
systems (CMMS). A CMMS track system maintenance, breakdowns, examinations, system
disruptions smaller and even obsolete. Instead of manually tracking issues, a CMM handles
all of this remotely, enhancing productivity. The company can use Advanced manufacturing
– on autopilot, Automation is also an important aspect of the future of car manufacturing
industry. More than 50% of Flex’s manufacturing processes are already turned fully
automated. In addition to this, IOT and industry is at the centre of industrial transformation,
accounting for more than $178 billion in 2016 and proving critical to provide competitive
edge to the manufacturing companies. The incorporation of IOT and industry 4.0
demonstrate the vision of the highly interconnected factory that includes online equipment
and is intelligent as well as capable of making own decisions(Kusiak, 2018). Composants
Perfectionnes also require recruitment and training program to make stronger workforce so
that productivity can be increased effectively. But in order to make these changes the
company also require a lot of investment which is a huge challenge for the organisation.
3. Challenges in implementing change management and recommendations
There are numerous barriers and challenges in implementing a change management within
an organisation, these challenges are as following –
Financial resources – It is a major challenge for implementing the change management in
an organisation, in order to implement or manage change in the company. Composants
Perfectionnes can utilise their shares or attract investors to implement changes in the
production.
Lack of understanding digital culture – Many organisations fails to understand the
importance of developing a digital culture in the business even prior of planning for a
transformation. In order to overcome this challenge, it is very essential for the company to
motivate employees and other stakeholder to get familiar with digital tools, culture,
technology and solutions(Zhong and et.al., 2016). It can assist businesses to persuade the
employees during change or transformation phase.
