Changes in the Workplace
Change management focuses on an approach that would bring benefits to the
objectives of the organisation. The impact would generally be based on an individuals and
team (Hayes, 2018). There were two types of change in the organisation that was a new shift
timing and new leave policy. The new shift timing was difficult for me to implement as it has
increased an extra hour. Working for an extra hour without any benefits have made me
demotivated towards my performance. Another change was the new leave policy that was a
new leave for vacation. Any employee can take two weeks of vacation holiday every six
months. I felt good about the new policy as it has allowed me to take leaves without
compromising with my pay.
Occupational Health and Safety Act
Alberta has formulated minimum standards for health and safety practices within the
workplace. As per Alberta (2020), the amendment for health and safety program is the
establishment of joint worksite health and safety committee for delivering safety regulations
towards the employees.
The major advantage of this amendment on the workplace is the increase in safety
within the workplace. The joint committee would build a relationship between the workers,
along with the management of the workplace. Another benefit would be a promotion for
assessing along with controlling the workplace hazards infrequent intervals. The major
disadvantage is time-consuming as it would involve an equal opportunity for giving their
opinion. Another disadvantage is a unanimous decision, as the committee would prefer
opinions of the majority and the minority decision would not be addressed.

Strategy for Implementing the Amendment
Human resources team would get efficient knowledge from the multiple sections of
the occupational health and safety act and regulations. For establishing the joint worksite
health and safety committee in the workplace, human resource team should know the nature
of work performed within the workplace. Human resource team should analyse the
occurrence of illness or injury while performing work or workplace. They should also analyse
any external factor that is affecting the health and safety of the employees within the
workplace.
The first strategy is to formulate a committee with that would be governed by the
senior leader of the organisation. The next step is to educate employees about the committee
and then a policy that is being formulated within the committee for safety and health of the
employees.
