1. Bob is diagnosed with Down's syndrome and has found a job that involves using
public transport. Phobias related to travelling and feels nervous, anxious and
breathless in crowded vehicles . How you be expected to care for this client and help
with his skills development.
Generally, a person who is suffering from Down syndrome have also suffered from psychiatric
disorder like anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, fear to gaining weight, and obsessive
compulsive disorder. In the case of Bob since, he is also suffering from this diseases and some
phobia during the transport like feel nervous, anxious, and breathless in crowded place but he
got job and now travelling is necessary to him so, he have to develop his skill. For this, some
help should be provided to him, for his skill developments like:
Enhances the travel skill of Bob.
Reducing the cause of fear by giving him proper guide.
Increase his confidences by providing him clear, and accessible information.
Improve his confidence by giving him support his surrounding people during the
transporting period.
Try to make their journey simplify by providing him special transport services like as dial
a ride.
By giving him travel training increase his travel skills and confidence and also providing
some experience using the public transport.
By providing travel assistance card and better training to staff for doing the help of
mental impairments people can increase the confidence of these people to approach staff
for any help.
Doing some publicity campaign for increasing the awareness of people regarding these
people.
Providing some medical facilities in public transport to overcome the anxiety, breathless
and depression like symptoms.
Tom is 65 year old client has a stroke and this resulted in right-side paralysis. He is right
handed and was working in the IT field. Tom has slurred speech, muscle weakness in the
right-hand and leg, swallowing difficulties and and is at high risk for falls.

What skills does Tom need to relearn and who can assist him with it?
Due to the stroke Tom has facing the problem of paralysis and Dysarthria in which
cranial nerves or brainstem and midbrain regions has been damaged. People who has suffering
from dysarthria facing the difficulties in controlling the muscles. Due to these paralysis tom also
faces some problem like slurred speech, and weakness of muscles. In the case of Tom, since he is
in the IT sector and he is right handed so, he has to gain his stability and relearn some skills for
rejoining his work. That skills and the persons who assist Tom to relearn those skills are
following:-
Tom has to regain his neural control for this a physician can help him who give him some
medical treatment also provide some pain management or spine problems management
treatment.
Tom has also assisted by rehabilitation nurse who help him to describe the key function
for his rehabilitation and help him in regaining the normal function of paralysed part.
A physical therapy expert can assist Tom in the relearning process of normal functioning
of motor and sensory impairments. Physical therapy expert are trained the Tom in both
of the aspect like anatomical that is for gaining his normal expression and physiology that
is his normal movement related function.
Occupational therapy practitioners assist Tom for his occupational related problems that
is what activities is necessary for tom and which muscles is important for that activity.
After getting the knowledge therapist suggest Tom for some physical activity which help
him to get the strength of muscle back.
Since Tom has also suffering from slurry speech so, he has to meet speech languages
pathologist who help him to relearn for his normal speech. For this expert suggest him to
increase tongue and lip movement, strength speech muscle, slow the rate of speech, and
so on.
