Answer to question 4
I could improve my social awareness by improving the active listening skills. I will take
a short course in effective communication skills. By active listening it is possible to understand
the other people’s emotions, and feelings. It will affect my response to people and situations.
Further, to develop social awareness I will engage in volunteer opportunities. I may visit home
of senior citizens who are lonely or socially isolated. In this way I can be part of community and
learn about different people from different cultural and social background and address their
concerns.
Answer to question 5
The three strategies for resolving the workplace conflict –
1. Use of mediator- as he/she will be neutral and listen both sides of conversation
to facilitate resolution. It is effective strategy when the situation is volatile
2. Be proactive and compromise – I will address the issue at a very early stage by
recognising the warning signs of conflicts. Compromising will prevent the
procrastination of the problem and its escalation
3. Accommodating- I will apologise whenever wrong to foster cooperation to
avoid any perceived significant threat. It helps in preserving harmony by
ignoring the assertiveness.
