The youth centre has not considered forming a partnership.

organization can be greatly mutually beneficial for both.
i) Community service is an essential aspect of youth development.
Through the partnership the members can actively engage in community
service for the organization. This will definitely improve the reach and
influence of the local youth centre and contribute towards the better
development of the young members.
ii) The community service organization and the local youth centre can
arrange events that can help in the better engagement of the local youth
in the organization. This can promote the youth centre among the local
communities. There can be increased participation and membership in

2. a) List the benefits of networking and collaboration for
There would be significant benefits of collaboration and networking that
will tend to be affect various stakeholders in different but positive ways
Clients-
The clients would benefit greatly from networking and collaboration. The
organization will develop essential sources through the networking and
collaboration with the local youth centers. The clients for the community
service organizations are essentially, the local communities in need for
development, the large sources of donation and the local NGOs. The
communities can get better representation in the media and their issues
can reach the government. The clients that give donations to the
organization can know that their money is being used for the betterment
of a people through the large network. The local NGOs can reach more
people in their local communities.
Organization-
The organization will be greatly benefitted from networking as this will
mean better reach, better movement of funds and better contribution
from a large number of philanthropist. In the organizational context there
can be rapid growth
Personal and fellow workers- The fellow members can develop better
communication with a large number of important people. Personally a
person can develop contacts with important people. This can foster both
individual development and increase the contribution of the individual
towards the organization.
b) List 3 limitations of networking and collaboration
Three limitation are-
 1. Collaboration and networking often requires the working together of
organizations with distinct cultures. This can mean that there are
chances for clashes of culture.
 2. There can be issues in regards to the operations of the two
organizations. Hence, implementation of decisions can take more time
or can cause potential disagreements.
 3. The management of the two collaborating organizations have to take
decisions based on mutual agreement. This can limit the flexibility of the
decision making process leading to delay in undertaking essential tasks.
 

3. You are a community service worker who has developed a partnership with the
local youth centre. The youth centre claims that your organisation has
damaged some resources (a training hall) and failed to deliver some promised
training. Relationships between the two groups have broken down. Explain
what steps you would take to rebuild the relationship and hence the partnership
The most important thing to do will be to develop good communication between
the two organizations. There is also significant requirement for crisis
management as the issue can potentially lead to the ending of the collaboration
between the two organizations. An investigation team needs to be set with the
task of finding the actual cause of the incident that led to the damage of the
resources in the training hall. The issue in regards to failure of delivery of
promised training would also need to be investigated. It is important that the
investigation team consist of members from both the organizations. Relationship
management should take place through a dedicated mediator. It is important
that if the investigation does find that there have been discrepancies from the
end of the community service organization the workers focus on new mutually
beneficial agreements that can serve to be a guiding path for new and effective
mutual relationships.

4. Define the term “chain of command”
In an organizational context the term chain of commands refers to the
organized nature in which messages are passed from one person to the other.
This normally happens through an essential hierarchical framework within the
organizations.
a) Is this term relevant to networking? Explain
This term is also relevant to networking as chain of command is required to
maintain essential levels of communication throughout the networking process.
It becomes important that networking is done to emphasize the mutual interest
of the interacting parties more clearly. Chain of command would help to improve
the effectiveness of the networking process. Thus, it can be said to be very
relevant in terms of its usage in the networking process. Without proper chain of
commands the organizations would not be able to interact effectively. Thus,
proper exchange of information cannot take place between the organizations.
Networking also involves the setting of social and professional contracts. Chain
of commands helps in developing communication that can create an
environment of mutual respect, trust and cooperation.

5. In your own words explain the different types of networks and provide one
example of each
The different types of networking:-
Organizational-
Casual contact network is a type of organizational network. These are business groups
that help in growing interactions between the members of various business oriented
professions. The business professional usually meet after significant periods of time to
discuss and exchange knowledge in informal ways.
Example-
An example of this type of network is any chamber of commerce that are present across
the world. The chambers hold monthly or annual meetings to discuss aspects related
mainly to their respective businesses.
Individual-
Individual networks mean the human contacts that are present for any given person.
These are the contacts with which a person normally interacts. A person lives his/her
daily lives interacting with a number of people that are either necessary for his effective
functioning or for his communal life.
Example-
A good example can be given of a person interacting with his friends or family. A person
may have strong contacts with a Doctor or a Lawyer or the local councilor. These are
part of his networks.
Virtual-
Virtual networks are referred to communications systems that help in building networks
between people with access to these networking areas or devices. The virtual networks
are made possible through the usage of technology. The technology is hence optimized
to enhance communication between various information and communications devices.
Example-
The internet is a very good example of a virtual network. The same is used to improve
the connection between various devices. This in turn help to create a shared platform
for information exchange.
Formal-
Formal network is the communication network that is present in any organizational
environments. The formal network is used to facilitate communication and exchange of
ideas between the people situated across various levels of an organizational
environment.
Example-
An example of this kind of network can be said to be the meetings or group sessions
that are held in organizational groups. Moreover, the organizational network hierarchies
can be said to be an example.
Informal-
It is a kind of network that does not rely on the aspects connected with formal
networking. There are people in an organizational setting that are more experienced
than the others. These people can be said to be the group that have a better
information sharing network. They can communicate their knowledge to their junior
employees. Likewise many other essential networks can be created in a given office
environment.
Example-
One example can be the sharing of information in an office between peers.
 

6. How would you communicate with a partnership organisation that was
represented by people who were:
Non English speakers?
Non English speakers can be communicated with using a translator. This can
be a person if the communication process is taking place directly. In case of
indirect communication, this can be done with the help of software or
applications. It is important the main people that will be interacting with the
partnership organizations either already has enough knowledge of the language
of the counterparts or develop essential learning to communicate with them in
their language. The negotiators can also be selected on this basis.
Hearing impaired
Hearing impaired people from the partnership organization have to be
communicated with the usage of sign language. This can help them to identify
better with the information exchange process. The hearing impaired partners
need to be communicated with a dedicated person for effectively using sign
language.
Vision impaired?
Vision impaired partners need to be communicated through the usage of braille
for the written communication and audio devices. It is important that
communication is used that can be effectively used for feasible perception
through non-vision senses.
Not in the same or neighbouring location?
The partners that are not in the same location need to be communicated with
through the usage of virtual communication mediums or telecommunications
medium. Mediums such as video calling is effective in these situations as they
combine the element of face to face interaction with audio-visual
communication.

7. a. The director of the Macyville community health centre has contacted
you, a community development worker with the Macyville town council,
and asked for assistance ion developing a network of relationships with
the local AFL football clubs. Discuss how you would help them develop
network. Please include the following points:
The most appropriate clubs for creating networks with Macyville community
health center can be done on the basis of proximity, community
engagement and following of the club. The clubs that have a larger fan base
and are more engaging towards the local community or the greater
geographic area need to be selected.
Primary communication should be formal. Sending an important email to the
management of the club would be an important part. Moving forward in
accordance with the response, a formal meeting can be held. A special
request should be made on behalf of the town council.
The results would need to be documented through the internet records of
the town council. A detailed report can be created in regards to the various
phases of networking negotiations that are to take place.
Local clubs want to be engaged with the community around them more.
This creates better fan base and improves the very important public
relations functions of the clubs. Hence, the association with the community
health center can help the club to garner a larger fan base. More importantly
the club can engage more effectively with the followers.
b. Get fit Now! a local sports equipment store have contacted you and
advised that they would like to support the local AFL football league.
Discuss how you would prioritise the needs of the organisations involved
It is important to understand the prospects of a deal with Get Fit Now. The first need will
be to understand how much support they can provide the local AFL league. The next
most important thing to consider would be the quality of the equipment that the
organization can provide. The third important requirement would be to assess how
much support the company will be able to meet out given their current financial position.
Fourthly, a strong negotiation meeting need to be held in order to understand how far
the organization is capable for supporting the league. If the results of the above
mentioned priorities are successful an important phase will be to move forward the
negotiations.
c. Three months into the partnership … You have facilitated a partnership
between the Macyville Bulldog’s (the top AFL team in town) and the
Community Health Centre. Things are going well however you cannot
stand the Bulldogs club manager. Discuss how you might manage this
situation
The manager of the Macyville Bulldog is the only person that can be a potential threat to
the partnership in accordance with individual subjective perspectives. It is important in
this moment to approach the most important people of the health centre and the club. A
negotiation need to be held and needs to be clarified why exactly the person does not
like the club manager of the AFL team. The conflict management team needs to get
involved and a proper negotiation meeting need to be held including the manager of the
club. The focus should be towards sorting the issues.
 

10. List one method of protecting the confidentiality, when collaborating with
another organisation, of your:
a. Client
For the client it is important to use encrypted data when transferring confidential
files. It is also important to not disclosing any client information to any of the
collaborators. A list needs to be created in which the client would need to
mention the confidential parts of information that shoul not be reveled under any
circumstances.
b. Organisation
Organization should classify data that should not be disclosed to anyone. There
should be a pact signed between the organization and the partner firm that
limits the disclosure of mutual information only till it is not endangering the
confidentiality of the important information contained in any of the organization.
An information monitoring system should be used.
c. Associated Networks
Associated networks have the right to information that they deem to be
confidential. It is important that the partnership agreement has a separate clause
to incorporate the confidentiality of the associated networks. The data transfer
should be done through networks that cannot be intercepted or hacked.

practices
Copyright and intellectual property
Copyright and intellectual property can affect the collaborative partnership
negatively if essential levels of confidentiality and respect is not provided to the
same. Intellectual property and copyrights are the rights of any individual or
organization. In this case there should be clear agreement between the
participating organizations in any collaborative environment about the usage
and treatment of copyrights and individual properties of both the organizations
Privacy and confidentiality
Privacy and confidentiality need to be maintained for those information that are
classified in case of all the organizations that are participating. There should be
pre discussed agreements prior to the partnership being commenced. It is
important to consider that all the participating firms have some or the other kind
of confidential information that need to be treated with care and mutual trust.
Disclosure
Disclosure is important as all forms of collaborative partnerships or networking
depend on effective disclosure of information. The partnership organizations
need to disclose the most authentic data in regards to their current performance
and their future growth forecast to each other for building mutual trust.

program is called Macy Mansions and your main responsibility was to
overseas the building of 10 new homes in the town as research has shown that
lack of affordable housing is the biggest issue in Macyville. The federal
government was to fund you project however they have withdrawn that funding.
You are aware that Phillip Morris, a major tobacco company, has a history of
funding similar projects in the area.
a. Discuss any ethical considerations relating to this partnership?
The ethical consideration in this regards can be the proposition of collaborating
with a tobacco firm that engages in the sale of intoxicants. This could send a
wrong message to the community. However, at the same time there is lack of
funds that can affect the project.
