“Child abuse and neglect”
Background of the study
Child abuse can be explained as abnormal behaviour of others against the children which
hurts and them and develop sense of fear in the mind of kids (Child neglect, 2005). Statistics
show that in the year 2006 905000 children in US have suffered from sexual, physical abuse and
child neglect. Maltreatment of child has become the burning issues in the United State (Young
and Widom, 2014). As per the report of 2007, 59% children of US have found victim of abuse
and neglect. Even 20% kids those who were medically neglected they were younger tan 1 year.
Abuse and neglect not only impact physically but it affects mental status of victim to great extent
(Nemeroff, 2016).

Present study will discuss impact of abusing and neglect on children. Furthermore, it will
explain factors that contribute to child abuse and neglect. In addition, it will define types of child
cases in which kids have to suffer from maltreatment and will explain intervention strategies that
can prevent child from such type of issues.

Significance of the study
Child maltreatment is burning issue in United State. Health and Human services and child
Burean of UK concerns for kids and it is continuously trying to minimize such type of abusing
cases from the nation (Widom, Czaja and Dutton, 2014). This study will be beneficial for society
because by this way root cause of such type of incidents will be identified and government will
be able to take strict action to minimize such type of cases. Furthermore, child abuse and neglect
cases are increasing in the country to great extent. The research project will help in making
control over the environment so that child can live their life easily, it will help in making families
aware with the causes so that they can take care of their children (Sperry and Widom, 2013).
Rationale of the study
The main reason of conducting this research is to identify the actors that contribute to
maltreatment with kids. Another reason of carrying out this study is to make effective control
over such type of incidents so that condition of the nation can get improved (Widom and et.al,
2013).
Specification of Research
Research methodologies are strategic process tools which supports scholar gathering
information about subject. Such type of tools support scholar in conducting the study in effective
manner. For the present topic of child abuse and neglect scholar will take support of

interpretivism philosophy. In order to describe each element effectively individual will use
descriptive research design. This is considered as one of the great tool that supports in
developing understanding about the topic. It is generally used in qualitative types of
investigation. Present research project is qualitative in nature so by choosing this method scholar
can meet with the objective. Furthermore, investigator will collect data by using primary and
secondary methods (Easton, 2014). In the primary data collection technique individual will use
interview technique and will take interview from medical professionals. They can give realistic
information about child abusing and their long term consequences. Apart from this, researcher
will also collect some information from secondary sources such as books, journals.
Child abuse and neglect is sensitive case and for conducting the investigation on this
topic scholar will take support of thematic analysis method. Through charts and graphs
individual will be able to get accurate results (Child abuse and neglect by parents and other
caregivers, 2016). Research will follow all ethics and will conduct the study as per the
guidelines. Individual will not copy any material from any site and all information will be
collected from authorised site.

Budget
The overall budget of the research project is $1,500. In this cost researcher will be able to
complete this project in effective manner. Scholar will have to spend amount for data collection
of relevant materials. Furthermore, cost of salaries to involved persons, overhead expenditures
will be involved in this research project which will consume cost.
