Lecturer / Facilitator Feedback:
Matthew I really enjoyed reading through your assessment. I can see that you take careful notice of children's interests and
strengths and consider how you can respond to these in meaningful ways. You have a grasp of the various observation
methods and I can see you use a strength based and professional approach when documenting children's learning and
well being.
It was great to see that you used some of your examples from your work. You will see from the criteria that there are some
gaps in your assessment. I think that when you used some of your workbased examples there a
re some aspects of the assessment that this clearly relates to,
however there are some aspects that were not covered or
in not enough depth.
I have written comments throughout your work for you to consider. We can have a competency conversation regarding these
gaps/ verbal assessment or you can provide it to me in writing by 2/12/16. You will see the gaps on the criteria sheet that still
need to be addresses. Some of the key areas are:
how you followed childrens voice and ideas throughout the experience
developmental factors
support needs of children within the group
deeper reflection on your own skills in building relationships and
maintaining interest
mentor/supervisor signature
NQS reference
It may be helpful with future assessments that you refer more closely to the criteria. Please call
me with any questions.
