A genogram is a realistic depiction of the family hierarchy, which shows a thorough fact of the
relations amongst the persons. The genogram is not a typical family hierarchy but more than a
family hierarchy. It has all the hereditary features and also analyzes those patterns to find out the
relationship patterns.
A genogram is being made out through the representation of different symbols and completed as
a relationship tree showing different aspects of the family. There are some advantages of using
the genogram model as it provides a summary of a family in a small period plus in a humble
way, offers a vehicle for having vision into family growth and operative, offers new visions into
the family as well as be able to be a facilitator of transformation, involves families, parentages
and teenagers in the valuation procedure. (Abatemarco, Kairys, Gubernick & Hurley, 2012)

In the nursing practice the genogram plays a very important role as it helps the nurse to
understand and gain out more information in a genogram than going out for a typical interview,
the genogram also helps the nurse to know about the family’s construction and also helps in the
identification of the health risks and also make diagnosed related to biological disorder, family
relationship, medical condition, and addiction nature of the family. In the nursing profession, the
genogram also helps to make the family associates alert of their fitness sickness, validate the
reserve of a family that can be used to overcome the illness. (Piasecka & et al. (2018))
The nurses use the Calgary Family Assessment Model (CFAM) to conceptualized plus establish
the statistics gathered operational by the families. It is used to address the family any specific
health issue if they are facing. There are three parts of CFAM they are as follows: (Meiers,
Krumwiede, Denham & Bell, 2015)
Structural Assessment: It can be fragmented down into the interior assembly of a family that
describes the relationship between the family associates and the exterior structure and the
relationship with the family as well as the system. (Meiers, Krumwiede, Denham & Bell, 2015)
Developmental Assessment: The developmental valuation is the phase faced by the family.
Functional Assessment: It describes the current interactions of the family with each other and
how they perform as a unit. (Meiers, Krumwiede, Denham & Bell, 2015)
The benefit of the Calgary Family Assessment Model in the nursing discussion that this model
helps in giving the nurse a structured model which comprises the family, the organization of the
family as well as the emotional bond of the family. In this model, the nurses can divide the
family structure into three ways the internal structure, which will comprise the family
arrangement, gender orientation, biological order of the children plus the subsystems. The

which concerns diverse communal establishment and individual by whom the family maintained
their relation. So these are the benefit of Calgary Family Assessment Model, which aids the
