This case study individual report examines the multifaceted issue of child labour within the context of supply chain management. It begins with an introduction highlighting the prevalence of child labour due to poverty and the global efforts to ban it, while acknowledging the counter-argument that such bans may exacerbate poverty. The main body of the report presents three key claims: the detrimental effects of child labour on children's physical, social, and educational development; the argument that poverty is the root cause of child labour, and that banning it might worsen the situation; and the organizational perspective that views child labour as a source of cheap labor to increase profit margins. Each claim is supported by evidence and examples, followed by counterarguments that challenge the initial claims. The report concludes that while child labour is harmful, addressing the root causes of poverty is crucial. Recommendations are provided for organizations to find alternative ways to increase profits and for governments to create employment opportunities to reduce child labour. References to relevant books and journals are included to support the analysis.
