ESSAY
Child marriage can be termed as marriage of girl under the age of 18 years likewise there
are around 12 millions girls that are married before the age group of 18. Child marriage is an
harmful practice that negatively impact on health, education and opportunities of women as they
are get married at early age. There are various reason regarding the way child marriage needs to
be banned such as
Controlling Idea #1- Girls have right to get educated instead of early marriage
 It happens across various countries that leads to gender inequality or discrimination and
situation of poverty. It has been identified that child marriage is highest in central Africa
and Nigeria that is around 68 and 76%.
 At the same time child marriage is violation of human right so each individuals needs to
adhere to them so that women rather than getting marriage can get educated or get more
knowledge (Sharma and et.al., 2020).
 It affects their rights such right to education, right to speak, health and opportunities to
fulfill their dreams(de Meireles Guimarães, Julião and Doria, 2020).
Controlling Idea #2: Child marriage adversely impact on health and well-being of girl
 There are various reason which state that child marriage need to be banned is that it
create barrier in personal development and leading well-being of women at risk.
 Child marriage affect the life of the girls in different ways such as depression, post-
traumatic stress disorder etc. The belief of the people that girls are inferior to boys
increases the percentage of the child marriage even if it is banned.
 It has also been identified that child marriage so leads in limiting the potential, growth of
women and their contribution to the economy (Girls Not bride, 2021).
 Moreover, it has been identified that girl is not physically as well as mentally ready to get
married at early age in any circumstances.
From my views, in order to stop the child marriage social change is necessary and which
is not possible without community engagement or child marriage need to be banned so that
women have more opportunities to learn new things.
