Concise annotation
The following article focuses on the involvement of a father in the parental activities of a
child, which further corresponds to the consequences of childhood obesity. The author has
stated that with time, there has been a rise in the involvement of fathers in the parenting
activities, yet, there are few reported instances, where a father has been the one who is
responsible for taking care of his children. In order to examine the aim of the research on
parenting and childhood obesity a systematic review of quantitative analysis has been
conducted that has helped in documenting the involvement if fathers relative to that of

mothers and has further focussed at examining the characteristics of studies that did not
include fathers. After the conduction of data analysis test, it had been inferred from the test
results that fathers are underrepresented in the society. The underrepresentation of fathers
has been highlighted for effective family involvements that would help in the prevention of
child obesities.

Concise annotation
The chosen article aims at analysing the discourses that surrounds the issue of childhood
obesity, parenting practices and children’s leisure. The author in this article has focussed on
critical discourse analysis that has been quite effective in exploring the possibilities
associated with obesity among the children with major focus on the leisure of the child and
the responsibility of the parents in grooming of a child. The author has done a qualitative

research from various articles, journals and magazines associated with the topic and have
found out that there are three themes that have emerged from the findings of the data. Firstly,
the fear of being fat among the children, thought about parental choice and the obligation of
enjoying leisure. The author has thrown light on these three themes that has provided
valuable inferences to parenting activities and health of the children.
