Safeguarding children legislation as well as procedures had been implemented in UK in order to
avoid abusing of child. The safeguarding of children is a multidisciplinary team procedure that is
aimed at helping the children as well as reducing their risk arising from lack of primary child
protection. As directed by Burton and Reid (2017), safeguarding of children involves initiatives
aimed at mitigation of the above spoken risk by prevention of the lack of the health as well as
overall development conditions of the children of UK. These initiatives are mainly aimed at
reducing the risk of trafficking of children within or outside UK.
The legislation of safeguarding had been implemented in order to protect the children
from being abused. The main objectives of this legislation are to save the child from the
following outcomes:
 Severe mistreatment
 Making the children aware of the fact that they are being abused and recognize the
activities related to abusing
 Hindrance of the proper growing conditions of the child where more than 18% of the
children are exposed to the threat of trafficking.
The following implies that every child in UK should have the means available to them for the
fulfillment of the wishes and aims that will help them to prosper in life. On the contrary, it is
evident that the all children in UK do not have the chance of getting proper scope of
improvement and development in life because of being abused as well as neglected. 16% of the
children in UK are indulged in to the consensus of affection by means of which they are allured
to their abuser or trafficker. Out of that 16% abused children, one third of them experience more
than one kind of parental harassment, coming from any of their family members, who are

perpetrators under domestic sexual violence. There are ample kinds of child abuse including the
likes of physical, emotional, sexual as well as negligence.
Child abuse has long drawn impact on the lives of the children as well as severely impairs
their emotional feelings. The statistics provided by NPSCC, shows that approximately 50500
children in UK are supposed to be under the risk of being abused in the current moment (Frost

approach against sexual crime that is practiced in UK.

have been facing. In order to combat the issue, the government introduced the regulations like
safeguarding Children act 2008, Children act 2004, Working Together to safeguard Children
2007 as well as Common Assessment Framework 2006/7 (Hawkins & Shohet, 2012). These
legislations equip the practitioners to work together as well as ensure that each child is safe and
is loved as they are. Safeguarding has to be met by all the practitioners in order to prevent any of
them from being abused or being neglected.
